HT4623 Cannot update iPad?

Cannot update iPad tells me it up to date offers no new upgrades

The original iPad is now 4 years old.
Apple is already on their 5th or 6th generations of the iPad if you include the IPad Mini.
The next generation is coming ssometime this year, again.
This is the plight of the early adopter.
I got over two years out of my iPad 1, I bought an iPad 3 and my wife got the use out of my iPad 1 for over a year before I got her an older, but great shape 64 GB storage iPad 2.
Technologies keep moving ahead.

  • HT4623 Cannot update iPad Apps- iPad 3

I've owned my iPad 3 since it was issued and now all of a sudden, it will not update my apps. It says I have 4 apps that need updates but the page is blank. I've checked everything in settings and have backed up to the iCloud. Everything else in iTunes is functioning. Any suggestions?  (I'm running the latest version of all software and have the 64GB iPad3)
    Thx!

Many discussions on this issue.  I contacted Apple.  Although they did not admit there is an issue, they gave me a couple work rounds (below) until they correct my issue.
What I am suggesting you do is update the apps directly on your computer, then connect your iOS device to sync the updates over automatically.
On your computer, follow these steps:
-Click View on the top menu bar
-Within the "View" drop down menu choose "Show sidebar"
-You will then notice under "Library" the category "Apps" and a number beside it (this number represents how many updates you have available to you)
-To switch to the Apps area in iTunes 11, select "Apps" from this Library menu. It'll show you a screen full of icons representing each of your apps in the library. Look on the lower right and you'll see two critical buttons ("#" updates available) and (Get More Apps)
-To update your apps, click the "updates available" button. You will then get a full screen view of every app that has an update available.
-You can now choose to update each app individually or choose the "Download All Free Updates" on the top right corner of the screen.
-Enter your password now and click "Get"
-Once the downloads are done, plug in your iPhone or iPad and it should sync automatically, updating all the apps on the device.
Another option is you can also try going into the App Store and go into the purchased page (As if downloading from iTunes in the Cloud), then you can click the "Update" buttons beside the applications requiring update.

Cannot update iOS software on iPad no software update option

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

Also read the instructions from the section entitled "Update your device using iTunes" at the link below.

  • Ios7 cannot update ipad apps

Ever since the update, I cannot update my iPad apps. The message says that all the update notices are from the US store and I must go to the Canadian store to update. I have signed out and signed back in, checked my account, and nothing has changed. Very frustrating.

    Hi,
I had the same issue. All you need to do is to re-verify your credit card details on the your phone once again and that should do it.
    Change App Store
    1. Tap "Settings"
    2. Tap "iTunes & App Stores"
    3. Tap on your Apple ID
    4.Tap "View Apple ID"
    5. Enter your user name and password.
    6. Tap "Payment information."
    7. Re-confirm you credit card information
    8. Tap "Done".

  • Cannot update iPad with iTunes 11

Cannot update iTunes 11 giving me message on my computer that I need to upgrade with 10.6.3
    Help!!!!

Ckuan's advice is good, here's a small supplement beacuse you said "10.6.3".
I think what's happening is you really meant "10.6.8", which is the minimum version of Apple's Mac OS X operating system that you need to run iTunes 11.  So I suspect you're really behind in lots of software.  (The current version of OS X is 10.8.2.)
Anyway, presumably you have a Mac and need to get it up to at least OS X 10.6.8 to run iTunes 11.
    Good luck.

    Try a reset Carole ...
    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

  • HT4972 Cannot update iPad 1st generation!

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you are updating using wifi, locate your iPad close to your router so you don't get a wifi dropout (can cause update corruption).

  • HT4623 Cannot update from iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 7...says that I cannot verify because I am not connected to the internet when I am clearly connected to the internet. I've tried from home and school.  Now what?

I am trying to update an iPad 2 to iOS 7.  It hasn't updated since iOS 6.1.3.  When I try to update it, I get a msg box that tells me I cannot verify because I am not connected to the internet.  This is not true because I AM connected to the internet here at school.  I've tried at home and it does the same thing.  What to do now?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • I cannot update iPad to newer s/w iOS 8.0.2

I am trying to help my parents with an iPad that is probably a couple of years old.  I was trying to update to a newer s/w push to 8.0.2 and it says it needs 1.8 GB to upload.  I tried to update an app that needed 915 MB and both of them would not upload.  They both said I needed more storage space.  I deleted all apps that I could and the device says I have 1.9 GB available and 11.4 GB used.
My parents received this iPad after purchasing a cadillac vehicle but it does not seem they can do a lot with currently.  Do I need to reset this iPad?  I attempted to back up stuff to the iCloud but I cannot seem to check to make sure the back up worked.  I pushed the Back up now tab and it says it took but I thought I could sign into the cloud to actually check but I cannot find the actual sign in screen to check.
    Thanks for the help.

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • Cannot backup therefore cannot update ipad

Ok im having issues and im extreamly frustrated and over it.
My ipad 2 currently on 5.1.1 wont backup onto my computer and therefore wont update to current 6.1.3 It attempts to back up but then cannot backup to this computer, last time i was able to back it up was nearly 12 months ago, it had been backing up to icloud but apparently that isnt sufficient to be able to do a software update.

    Tara8430 wrote:

It is if you update over WiFi. You are already running iOS 5.1.1 which is all that you need in order to update that way. I updated over WiFi when iOS 6 came out and have done every updat over WiFi since iOS 5 was released. Settings>General>Software Update.
Is your computer's hard drive almost full? That will prevent a backup in iTunes from taking place.
You may have a corrupt backup as well. Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. See if you have multiple backups. If you do delete all but one backup. Quit iTunes, restart your PC, restart the iPad and try again.

  • Cannot update iPad or iPod to ios 6

I have an iPad 2 and two 4th generation iPod touches that I cannot get to update to ios 6.  When I try to update within the various devices the download appears to happen, but then I get a message that the there was an error downloading the file.  When I connect the devices to iTunes and try to update from there, the download appears to complete, but during the "unpacking" phase I get a message that the download was corrupted.
I have been trying daily to update since iOS 6 came out, but I'm getting the same error every time.
I have no other problems with my Internet connection, and all other firmware upgrades have gone perfectly.  I have updated iTunes to the latest version.
Any suggestions (other than not to upgrade)?
    Thanks!

    You are welcome.

So why did that setting fix the problem?  What would a DNS server have to do with not being able to download an update file?
    Thanks again!
There are many things involved during a DNS lookup.
I think it has to do with your Internet provider DNS. Too many sharing a connection? DNS Spoofing? Cache corruptions? There are too many to mention.
