Are you trying to transfer music to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process? If so, do you have Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?
If you are trying to manually transfer music to your iPhone, do you have Manually Manage Music and Videos selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?

  • Got an IPOD nanno last year. Used Itunes often and got a lot of music. Bought another nano for a family member who is using their own laptop . Anyway for me to get music from my Itunes library onto family members ipod? Thanks

Can i get music from my itunes library (created with different computer) onto wife's ipod library (created using different computer)? Hope this makes sense

iTunes and Apple's devices work as an ecosystem. iTunes is designed to sync with Apple's products, not anyone else's. You'll need your songs in a format compatable with the Samsung phone and to use the software transfer program supplied/recommended. It is essentially not an Apple/iTunes problem. You may have better luck finding the information you need on Samsung's forums.

The implication here is that the other computer belongs to someone else, along with the content on it.
Since you do not own this media, you have no legal right to it.
If you want the media, purchase your own copy.

  • Getting music from my itunes to my my Nokia 6500

Is it possible to get music from my i tunes to my nokia 6500.
The 6500 apparently isn't compatible with the nokia media manager, and pc suite software doesn't work on macs.
Is there a way around this??

Not sure about OSX but can you just drag and drop the itunes files onto the memory card using a card reader? Any protected itunes files (purchased) will not play, in theory itunes plus file (drm free) should play but apple have modified the tag which stops these being played on a Nokia phone (there are messy workarounds), but any CDs you have ripped yourself should work.
Your not missing out on anything regarding Nokia Music Manager as its a very poor application, hopefully Nokia will realise this soon and give us a decent Music/Video application!

  • Getting music from your iPod onto your hard drive?

    Hey,
I am trying to transfer some music files from my iPod on to my hard drive. I have tried dragging them on to the hard drive and I went through all the options and configurations and yet I can't seem to figure it out.
Can someone please help me out and tell me how to get music from my iPod on to my computer hard drive?
    Thanks,

You cant drag your music from your ipod to your computer, you have to use a third-party program to do it. There are many you can use, so try searching it on google. Some i can rememeber are yamipod, and copyipod.

  • How do I get music from my itunes (new version) to my ipod touch?

I can't seem to put my music from my itunes library on my computer onto my ipod once I updated the itunes to the newest verson (on the computer).  SO frustrated.  Thanks for you help.

Figured this out--click on iPod button at upper right; click on Music from list on left. Click "Add To" on the upper right. Make sure Music is showing  in drop down menu on left, and choose Songs, Albums, etc from menu across top.  Drag desired music into the Add Files section on the right.

Im making a wedding video and cant figure out how to get the bridal music off my itunes and onto my computer.. Im using the windows movie maker

    Marian,
Let's be clear on one thing here. The manual setting is an iPod setting, not an iTunes one. So, once you've set it to manual (and you appear to have done that correctly), then you can connect it to any number of computers without changing that setting.
"The grey thing occurs on one pc only"
This is the thing that I don't understand, if your iPod is set to manual, then it shouldn't happen on any computer. If you connect the iPod that is set to manual to this pc, and then click on it in the source listing, then you would be looking at the songs on the iPod, and they should not be greyed out. When you connect to the "other pc" under these same circumstances, they are not greyed out?

  • How can i get my music from my itunes onto my mac itunes

is there a way where i can get my music from my old pc's onto my macbook pro itunes?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library, though you'll need to find a different tool such as Carbon Copy Cloner for the Mac.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.

  • Cant get music from iphone to itunes

Title says it all really, I'm using an iphone 4 with windows 8. When I got the new computer and downloaded itunes I was missing my favorite album and it will not sync when I try to. Its still on my phone and if my phone is plugged in it will still play the album via itunes but it will not sync at all. I've tried the "make sure its checked" and I can't check anything. Everything else will sync except this one album which, before you ask, I bought off of itunes itself awhile back. How can I fix this annoying thing?
Also when I get to the sync menu it won't even display or recognize the album, like it doesnt exist.

    Hello ibonner
It all depends on what type of media it is. If it is purchased content from the iTunes Store, then it will transfer. If it was something that was ripped from a cd and then copied to your iPhone, then it will not copy to iTunes. You can also download previous purchases as well.

  • PC hard disk replaced. How do I get music from iPod back onto PC

My pc hard disk crashed. I replaced it and reinstalled Windows XP. I have lost all the music I had on my laptop. I don't want to reload from CD's again and I don't want to loose the music I downloaded.
Can I get the music from my iPod mini back onto my computer and if so, how?

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
