HT4623 "could not activate your iPhone" -- activation server cannot be reached. Any ideas? Waited for 20 minutes now.
Just keeps saying the activation server cannot be reached. Am I too impatient or is there something actually wrong?
Check to see if your antivirus or firewall is blocking access to gs.apple.com. You might also see this message if your phone was jailbroken or if your computer was used to jailbreak in the past.
If neither of these apply, just keep trying. There's a very heavy load on Apple's data centers right now.

My ipad gone crazy a few days ago. It is always trying to activate itself. The first message that appeared was "Your iPad could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable". I' was able to restore the iPad and backup it but iTunes does not recognize it anymore. I've tried to connect to iTunes using my Macbook and iMac. All my software is up to date.I've contacted for technical asistance and they said they could do nothing to repair it . I can not believe that there's nothing Apple can do. While Apple is still working to bring its developer site back up a week after taken offline due to a security breach, the company appears to be experiencing another problem with its systems today, as a number of MacRumors have reported they are unable to activate their new iPhones. Other reports are showing up on Twitter as the problems continue.
According to one tipster who called Apple about the problem, the company's activation servers are currently down. Another AT&T employee has told MacRumors that AT&T has also confirmed the outage, and posts in Apple's discussion forum offer similar information.
Reports of problems began surfacing nearly three hours ago, and there is no word yet on when users can expect the issue to be fully resolved. -

I bought a used Ipad model A1397. Connected it to Itunes and upgraded to 6.1.3.
After that, I can not activate it because it is constantly writes:
"Your IPad could not activate because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting IPad to iTunes to activate, or try again in a few minutes." using WiFi and Itunes. The process of restoring the firmware also did not help ...

Got an (unlocked) iphone 4s from US and tried activating in India but it throws an error saying 'unable to activate bcos the activation server cannot be reached' ..I tried connecting to itunes through my laptop but it does not detect my iphone..pls help

As kb1951 states, unless this phone was purchased directly from Apple, it is not officially unlocked. In the US, only Apple sells officially unlocked iPhones. The message you got generally means your phone was hacked to unlock it...jailbroken...Apple's servers have detected such & are preventing your phone from activating...there's nothing wrong with the activation servers.
You'll need a sim card from the carrier your phone is locked to in order to activate it. If you don't know what carrier, you'll have to call AppleCare in the US to determine this info. Be aware, US carriers will not authorize official unlocking unless you are a customer that used the phone on their network. Thus, there is most likely no way for you to get this phone officially unlocked.

thanksAs you are running a beta you must be a developer. You will have to go to the Developer forums for help.
I suspect there is nothing wrong with the activation server; more likely you hacked the phone to get the beta. Now you are stuck. -

The servers are getting slammed. Bunch of people trying to download iOS7 at the same time.
There is a chance activation servers might be down/slow for now. Just keep trying throughout the day. Some other forum users are experieincing similar things.

ThanksIf you are developer (the only official way to get iOS5) then you are keenly aware of the non-disclosure agreement that states IOS5 issues cannot be discussed in open forums.
If you are not a developer, restore the device to the latest version of iOS 4 or try google for assistance.

I updated to IOS 6.1.2 which has been a total diaster. I am regulary losing signal, baterry life and more importantly the service from my provider - 'Searching' keeps appearing.
I have reset my phone via itunes four times over the last three days. Now I have unable to activate my phone. Any ideas how to solve this problem?

hacked/modified/jailbroken and the update relocked it to the
original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.

What wireless carrier did you use before this problem?
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier? -
