HT4623 Error -1 on brand new iphone 4s?
Got my iphone 4s replaced yesterday by warranty due to greyed out wifi options, but now when i've came to restore my backup im stuck in recovery mode and i keep getting the -1 error, can anyone help or do i need to go back to apple?
I would take it back to Apple.

repeatedly tried from diffierent computers and the same error code pops up (error -1)That's a hardware problem which will require a trip to the Apple store for evaluation, unless your phone has been jailbroken, then it's a corrupt hosts file (and we can't help you with that here as it is against the forum's terms of use).

I'm about to hulk out guys! Brand new iPhone 5 and need to update iTunes for recognition. Keep getting "the installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail." Can anyone help? I may smash something very soon.

That's consistent with another application (other than QuickTime) having dropped old QuickTime componentry in non-standard locations on the PC.
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view options on the PC.
1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
5. Click OK.
Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
Open the "Windows" folder.
Open the "system32" folder.
What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.) -

Are you getting any error message or other data that helps to understand why the SR # is not working? Sometimes when entering a serial number a letter or number is entered incorrectly because a 1 looks like an l or an s looks like a 5. Make certain that this type of an entry error is not your problem.

Have brand new iphone 4s. Wifi signal is very weak even when very close to router. Wi-Fi in range, ID and Password Correct.... What is going on?Check that the email address is correct for your login. You'd be surprised how many times I've seen people see the prompt and just go with a password and not realize that the email address was wrong.
Aside from that, you can try resetting your password via the iForgot app.
If you forgot your password, you can easily recover or reset it using iForgot. For security reasons, Apple cannot reset your password for you. To protect yourself against unauthorized purchases to your credit card, do not give out your password to anyone.
NOTE: If you attempt to sign in to the Apple Online Store numerous times with the wrong password, you will see the following error message: “This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons." To reset your account, use iForgot. -
Brand new iPhone 5s will not turn on
I purchased a brand new iPhone 5s for my daughter and when we went to turn it on this morning, it would not turn on. I charged the phone, in case that was the issue but still nothing but a black screen. I connected to itunes and tried to restore the iPhone features, it recognized that it was an iphone but gave me an error 40 and the apple logo and progress bar was only visible. Once I diconnected from itunes, the screen went blank again. I also made sure that our iMac updates were completely up to date and that there were no security settings blocking its use, but still no luck.

Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

Second (brand new) iPhone 4 stuck on "connect to iTunes" while trying to update.
My iphone 4 was stuck on the "Connect to iTunes" screen, and NOTHING I did fixed it. I took it to the Apple store, got a brand new iPhone 4, and it bricked again while trying to update to iOS7. Same thing... stuck on "Connect to iTunes". I'm connecting to a PC.
What else can I try??The iTunes version is 11.1.2.32, and there are no error messages. I'm trying to restore from backup eventually. But for now I can't even restore to factory settings. I've tried DFU mode, and that does not work, or at least I'm can't even be certain it's going into DFU mode.
Windows gives and audible noise to signify that a USB device is connected, so I know that somewhere beneath the surface Windows knows it is connected, but iTunes doesn't react at all, and the Windows file explorer, and even the drive manager in adminstrative tools, don't even show a volume connected. -

I have a brand new iphone 4s unlocked version from singapore and I am experiencing constant network fluctuations on my iphone , no service, call failed, invalid sim, sim failure, bars fluctuating from 5 - 3 - 2 - 1, no signal/bars searching etc... Ifeel miserable after trying out all the options changed multiple sims, tried multiple carriers, restored the phone back and have set-up as new device but the problem does not get solved... its is so frustrating that after investing on a world's most expensive phone you cannot enjoy the calling features which the phone offers which is the main thing you own the phone for.. Rest of the things are working.. The funniest part I am not able to make calls or receive calls but can access the internet.. I have tried every possible thing and really very frustrated with this iphone of mine...I hope the problem gets solved.. would anyone have any solutions to this problem.. Does it mean one should never update software as I hear that after updating to IOS.5.1 the problem has started coming and same has been with there.... Apple says its a hardware failure which is very difficult to digest as sometimes I get 5 bars and able to make and receive calls but 95% of the time I am unable to. If anyone has any solution I will be very happy if he or share can share the same. Many thanks. its so disgusting to experience this on top of this apple does not support global warranty for the phone as you need to go to the country from where you bought the phone for replacement.. Truly sad state of affairs.. very very very dissappointing.

I have a brand new IPhone 4G. I can't get it to ring. I have gone into settings and disengaged vibrate, and have engaged the ring button on side of phone. But everytime I dial my number from a different phone, it doesn't ring. Rather the call goes directly into my voice mailbox (ogm heard immediately); not even one ring! Please advise
Well, if it goes to VM immediately the call isn't reaching your phone, so no wonder it isn't ringing. Do you see a network displayed in the upper left of the screen? Have you activated the phone by connecting to a computer with the latest version of iTunes? Have you called your carrier to make sure they have provisioned it correctly?

I just got a brand new iPhone 4S on a contract from my local Three store. When I used the cloud restore to put the data from my old 3GS onto the device, it's prompting me for an Apple ID login with an email address (hotmail) that isn't mine! My old phone has NEVER had any Apple ID other than mine log into it, and the new one's a sealed box that I've opened and set up from scratch. Can anyone please explain this? I'm worried there's some kind of problem with my iCloud data being mixed with someone else's or something... Since I logged in with my own ID, it's downloaded the data perfectly fine, but I just got the Apple ID prompt again a moment ago with this same hotmail address in it... I'd be very grateful for any explanation!
In iTunes on your computer, select the Purchased section under STORE in the left column. Click on the first track and choose "Get Info" from the "File" menu.
In the "Summary" tab you'll see details of the purchaser of the track. Click Next to go through all your purchased music one by one until you find the ones you need to get rid of.
Unfortunately, there are no smart playlist rules that can filter tracks by the purchaser that I know of. -

If you can't restore from your backup you could try 3rd party software such as iPhone Backup Extractor to see if you could extract your notes from the backup.
