HT4623 Hello, I was trying to update my phone and while doing so, the itunes icon and plug sign shows up. For the longest time the phone wasn't even turning off. I plugged it into my computer but the it asked me to restore to factor settings????
Hi there,
When I turn my phone on, it asks me to plug it into iTunes. I already tried that and then it prompts me to restore to factory settings.
Here.
Your iPhone is in Recovery Mode. You can try this to get it out of it:
Unplug the device from the USB cable if it's connected. Then hold down the sleep/wake button until it turns off. Let go of the button and then hold it down again until the Apple logo reappears. Let it go and the device may boot up.
This only works, of course, if your device was working properly previously. Otherwise, or if that doesn't get it back to normal operation, you'll need to to try to restore it:

I updated my ipad 3 with the ios7 update. Now the screen shows the itunes icon and a pic of the plug in (as to plug into itunes) When I do this it wants to restore my ipad, which I have already done. I can't get out of this screen. Any hints on what to do next?
Something went wrong with your update; you are in Recovery Mode.
Follow step 1 to 6 closely to recover your iPad.

I was attempting to download the latest update to my ipad which was to take 2 hours so i left it alone, when I came back my ipad would not turn on, now it has the itunes icon and a plug on the front, what does this mean? And now it can't be recognized on my computer at all?
I did a restore but nothing has happened. How do I get it to come back on?You'll have to restore your iPad. With your iPad still connected to your computer, press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time and your iPad will restore.

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

After the download was done, it was starting to install, and then an error came up and didnt get a chance to check it. Now my Iphone is stuck on the screen with the USB pointing to the Itunes Icon and wont do anything else. My ipod touch needed to be updated so I did and now it won't turn on all it does is show the itunes icon and says toconnect it to itunes so I did and let it be updated and now it wont turn on and I tried resetting but nothing changed.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

i just plugged my iphone in to download some pix to my computer and my phone is now showing a plug with the itunes icon and its telling me I have to restore my phone and will lose all my data. *** is going on and how can I go back?
"I have logged in to my itunes account on a different computer and none of my purchased music is showing up."
Correct. it does not magially appear in other places. It will only be where you put it.
"I also have plugged my iphone in to get updates but it says I will lose all media and apps if I don't update on the computer where I sync everything. "
Correct as well. Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one. -
Tried to update iPhone 5 to latest OS. When I looked at the phone a while later, the screen was dark except for the iTunes icon in the middle of the screen and another icon showing the charger cable and an arrow point to the iTunes icon. Now I'm bricked out of the phone. When I hold down the power button after the screen goes completely dark, the Apple logo appears, then the iTunes icon I described.
Hi Aphthonius,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you only see the "connect to iTunes" screen on your iPhone, this means that the device is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. The information and steps in this article can help further:

How do I fix my apple TV? Since I did the latest update, it has been frozen on a screen which shows the itunes icon and an apple TV with a cord going from one to the other. I have tried unplugging it and plugging back in. I have also tried plugging it into my computer and updating it through itunes and nothing has worked.
It is in recovery mode, it must be connected to a computer and restored via iTunes.
What happens when attempting this?
