Resync the iPad with the computer, but before doing so, click on the device once it is hooked up to iTunes. You will see the Device Profile to the right with several tabs - Photos being one of them. Select the Photos tab, and either uncheck the Sync Photos box at the top (if you don't want any of the photos to be on your device), or uncheck the selected photos you no longer want to sync.

And now a second newbie question. I have downloaded the additional content and booted up logic for the first time, but the apple loops have not installed and logic is asking me to reinstall the apple loops. But how do I do that? I can see they are in the libray so have downloaded.

But you could use the iPhone Simulator of Xcode if you have access to an Mac. Like the name explains, it simulates an iPhone on an Mac, but you cannot use all standard apps

Just for clarity, do you have iTunes 11.1 now on your computer? If yes, when you connect your iPhone via your USB / Lightning cable is your iTunes opening with a small box near the top right of screen that shows your iPhone connected? If yes then you can click through the various views of your iPhones content areas, such as Music, Photos, etc. You will eventually get to a screen that is Status. On that screen you should see the iOS Update option.

View what photos?
Photos taken with the iphone are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.

If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.

Make a backup of your computer first before doing any updates. In rare but unfortunate cases an update seems to result (from what the people posting here say) in libraries being deleted. Then too, sometimes people update and discover they really don't like the new version. Downgrading without a backup is difficult. My company is on a VERY slow internet connection, and at the moment we are using a cellular modem to increase our bandwidth. This connection is a metered connection. The 1 Gb download for IOS 7 will kill all of my purchased bandwidth, and has a potential to both take a while and/or cost a fortune. We are using iTunes to do this update as the update utility on the phone has caused 3 of our units to crash and lose all their data. 2 of which were bricked and had to be replaced by applecare. We had a utility for that when I worked for apple a few years ago that used iTunes in this manner, but I am not sure this exists on the consumer side. Does anyone know where i can look for this solution?
