I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums, but you can use Google to find information on how to install an older version of iOS on any iDevice.

I regret, that I updated my iOS5, can I get it back?Sadly, Apple is amazingly good at keeping users from downgrading an iPhone. For some reason, a prior update (5.1.1) bricked my 3GS, and that's how I learned the hard way how firmly Apple had control of the upgrade/downgrad process. I find that annoying, as well as the fact that Apple "pushes" (figureatively and literally) updates on users, many of whom simply update immediately, without realizing there could be a downside. I've been amazed at how many non-techy iPhone using friends have complained to me about maps, and they wish they had never updated to iOS 6.
Anyway, I'm still using iOS 5 on my iPhone 4S, as I just feel too attached to my good old Google-based Map app (and the web version of Google Maps is really very different than the App version -- I tried it, thinking I would finally update my iPhone, but was really dissatisfied with the web version). I do know iOS 6 is superior in many ways, but for now, I am just that attached to my good old Map app. -

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

My iPad ISO version is 4.3.5(8L1). I followed the steps to go to General but do not see Software between About and Usage. Can anyone tell me what I can do in order to update my ISO? My iPad is connected to wifi and a power source.

Update iPhone from iOS 5.1.1 to iOs 6.1.3?
I have been wary about updating my iPhone 4 from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 6 (now 6.1.3) because of all of the grief I'm hearing about iOS6 and succeediing updates. My iPhone works fine, no issues. It seems to me that I should just "stand pat" until this thing works itself out. Does that make sense or am I missing something here?
Up until I updated my iPhone 5 with the version of 6 that was supposed to address wifi issues, I also had never had a problem, and did not know anyone who did. It is true that there is a small percentage of users who have problems with each update. I waited on updating my 4 to 5.1 because some small number of people lost wifi with that update. I finally bit the bullet and had no problems. However, after updating my iPhone 5 with the update specifically for iPhone 5 wifi problems, I had what now seems to be the fairly common problem (among the still small percentage of users affected) of losing internet access when more than 5 feet from my home router. The wifi connection appeared to be fine, but no input or output. Public wifi was fine. Apple replaced the phone for me at the store, after I had jumped through a few unpleasant hoops. I have not updated my OS again, though I will do so soon, when I know I have time to go back to the Apple store if necessary. I've been reading about problems with iOS 6 updates since that OS came out, and I do believe there are more problems with it, re wifi and battery life/overheating than I have seen with previous OS's. I have also not updated my iPad 2 and iPad mini yet, but intend to do it before my warranty is up.
It's really a personal decision, but there are definite, though small risks, involved. -

The same way every other model of iPhone is updated, plug it into iTunes.
If it is the original iPhone, the most current version of iOS supported is 3.1.3.
If it is the 3G iPhone, the most current version of iOS supported is 4.2.1.
The 3GS and newer models can all be updated to the current version of iOS, which right now is 5.1.1. -

Apple only supports updating to the latest iOS available for the device. For the 3GS, 4, 4S and 5 that is iOS 6.1.2.
