I have iPhone 4s how to update to ios 6.1 when my update software is not working when I click software updates the gear is turning and there is a message downloading and estimating time remaining but I stays like that for two days now nothing is happening what can I do?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

Here's why you should use Wifi to do a wireless software update:
While you'd be able to download an update over 3G/4G, the updates are so big that you'll be waiting a really long time (also, you'll eat up a ton of your monthly wireless data), so Wi-Fi is much easier here. You should also make sure you've got plenty of battery life. The download and installation process can take some time, so if you've got less then 50% battery, you may want to plug in to a power source.

two days ago i`ve tried to download updates from software update option on Mac OS X 10.5.2 and then it tells me that: you`re not connected to the internet, try again later...
when i come home from work, ive tried again and then the update software tells me that i have new updates but does not appear any updates and i cant select Install option too.
anyone who knows anything about it,

I have an older iPod Touch with software version3.1.3(7E18). The device does not give the option to update under settings and the Summary in iTunes says that it is updated so I need to know how to get it updated? The referenced article gives only these two options. Can it be updated or is it to old? Many apps require ios4.0 and above so it limits my access to many apps. Any answers, suggestions or direction would be much appreciated. Thanks!

we have 2 iphone 4's synced to the same itunes account for apps and music since the day we bought them, but each has a different icloud acct. they have both been updated on the same itunes account with every update that has come out since we bought them in december of 2010. nothing on either phone has ever been lost or duplicated. having said all that, maybe i'm missing something here, but we have had no problems. we do have itunes setup to sync manually. i do believe i'm a piker compared to lawrence finch, but i'm just telling you what happens in my house. maybe check with apple? is there a store near you?
