Sometimes - and I stress sometimes - this can help. Sign out, restart your iPad and sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap your ID and sign out. Restart.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and sign into your account. Then try to update your apps.

Why do I get "communication error" when selecting Contacts in Backup Assist Plus?

Have reset Backup Assistant Plus due to sync Errorcode 5 using Verizon response to others in this forum. After running Backup Assist Plus again, I find that I cannot select Contacts for backup. I get a message that says "Error - There was a communication error". I was able to select pictures and these were successfully backed up. Any suggestions?

We absolutely want to make sure your contacts are backing up as well! I'm sorry you're running in to this concern. Let's figure this out together. Just to clarify, you mentioned you reset Backup Assistant Plus. Was this by following these steps: http://vz.to/14Iv5eS and clearing the data for the Sync Service and Backup Assistant apps?

Error when selecting volume

Hello,
I just restarted my Maxtor external hard disk (which I use for time machine) because my Mac did not recognize it anymore.
Now it does but I get an error when selecting the volume for Time Machine. The error says:
"The file '.0011246f8842' can not be saved in the map 'Time Machine-reservekopieen'."
Does anybody have a clue what I need to do to get my Time Machine working again?

I'm not sure if that's the same message, but it sounds like a common permissions problem.
Try this: Open the Terminal app (in your Applications/Utilities folder).
In Terminal, the prompt looks like this: user-xxxxxx:~ <your name>$
(where <your name> is your short user name). It's followed by a non-blinking block cursor (unless it's been changed via Terminal > Preferences).
At the prompt, type the following exactly as shown, substituting the name of your TM drive exactly, including any spaces, between the quotes:
sudo chmod 644 /volumes/"TM drive name"/.0011246f8842
Press Return. You'll get some warnings and a request for your Administrator's password. Type it in (it won't be displayed) and press Return again.
Then try a +Back Up Now.+

Error when selecting system during scheduling of background job in RAR

Hi,
I am getting an error when I attempt to schedule a background in RAR. It happens when I go to the multiple system selection option. I select a system and click copy. An error example below appears in the logs even when I dont go ahead and schedule the job. The job still runs and returns results when scheduled. However these errors in the logs concern me. Anybody else experience this?

Did you check the connector whether the background system is connecting or not.
Goto RAR-Configuration>connectors> select the connector of the background system and then press on test connection.

Error message is FAILED TO GET DISPATCH FROM IBRWSR2. Then when you click on it the next error message says: PHTML IS NULL. You have to click this error message twice and then the PDF finally loads. Happened every time
Does anyone have a solution since Adobe will not respond?
As a last resort I will try uninstalling the Adobe Reader XI and install Adobe Reader 10 instead. It seems to work ok. But when I try to install version 10 the Adobe site tries to install XI. Any ideas?

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

These ones are tricky. But the following instructions are worth a try.
First do a complete uninstall of iTunes and related components (but don't reinstall just yet), as per the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
a. Launch regedit (Start >> Search Programs and Files >> type Regedit and open the regedit that comes up.)
b. Access the following Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData \S-1-5-18\Components
c. Perform the following actions
i. Right Click on Components Folder
ii. Select Permissions
iii. Select Full Control and Read Permissions options
iv. Select Advanced Button
v. Select Owner Tab
vi. Select to Change Owner to the Administrators
vii. Check the option “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects”
viii. Select OK when prompted that it may not change all.
ix. Select Apply
x. Select Apply again
xi. Exit the Registry Editor
Now try reinstalling iTunes again. Does it go in properly this time?

Solution:
Open Disk Utility.
Select your external hard disk and run a “verify” on it. After a few minutes (depending on the size of your drive), you should be good to go. You don’t need to run a “repair” on it... (at least I didn’t have to). See photo for reference.
This should fix the permissions issue, because on my Mac running Mountain Lion I was unable to edit the permissions in the get info dialog window even after "unlocking" the drive.

I get an error saying that selected videos will not play on the iPhone. They were purchased from iTunes and have been played on the phone previously.
So far I've only noticed it on SD/HD videos, but not all SD/HD videos. Not had an issue yet with the judt SD files.

Getting an error when running OPENROWSET on remote SSMS

I'm getting an error when I execute OPENROWSET command
from a remote SQL Server Management studio. But has no problem when directly execute the command on our database server.
Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 2
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)".
Is there anything I need to enable or configure?

OK, this is the information that we need.

Please check those 2 options:
* "already opened": at time the connection is ot working try to open the file localy with the excal application. If the file is in used then the excel will promp about this. If it is not give you any error localy then
try again from remoe (since the excel might take control if the connection is opened but not in used by remote connection). If you get that this might be the problem pls repeat this several time to make sure.
* "you need permission": This is much more common situation

You can change the SQL server to run as a AD user (with the security implications it has) and then give that user access to the file on the network
