I cannot get to the wifi in the house that I am in right now. I have it in my home. The router number etc seems not to be working

Paul--you are a life-saver!! Worked great. I did have to look around to make sure I was getting 4.9 instead of 4.7 (even when the file was named 4.9 at techspot.com), but I finally got the right file, did the install as you suggested, and everything is now fine. One note, though, that I haven't seen mentioned in any of this thread: when I first tried to open up iTunes after getting back to 4.9, the following message appeared: "The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." I merely went to the old .itl file that was created when I did the update to iTunes 5, renamed it, moved it over to my now new 4.9, and iTunes opened fine. My library was a few days out of date, because of the few days' lag from the time I did the iTunes update, but that was easily taken care of, and everything's now working fine. Thanks again!!!

Trying to add another DB under SCAN via DBCA "Default listener LISTENER is not Configured in the grid infrastructure home"

Trying to install another DB under RAC using SCAN listener on a new port. DBCA gives error "Default listener LISTENER is not Configured in the grid infrasturcture home".
Have tried srvctl config listener, srvctl start listener to start the listener. Still not able to get past the DBCA error. What am I missing? Do not want to start LISTENER on port 1521 as SCAN is running on 1521.

No your Database config does use hostname/ip + port or a tns-entry pointing to the local_listener. Neither method does care for the home the listener is running from.
You will however have to take care of the entries in the clusterware, as the listener is a controlled resource. If you manually relocate it, then it will only work until next restart of crs stack.
The simplest way to switch the home is by running first netca from database home and delete the listener and then switch to grid home run netca again and create the listener.
netca will take care of registering it with crs with the correct environment settings. You will have a short period where your rac won't have a listener and therefore won't accept new connections until the new listener is up and running.
Relocating the current listener requires to modify several parameters via crsctl in the cluster registry, but allows doing this node by node without complete outage.
If you want to go that way, then create another listener from grid home and compare the settings of current listener and of the new listener. You will need to update several parameter before you can relocate it.
Run this command to show the current settings and compare it to the listener from grid home:
crsctl stat res ora.LISTENER.lsnr -p
You will need to modify serveral parameters, ACTION_SCRIPT,AGENT_FILENAME,ALIAS_NAME,ORACLE_HOME and the ACL
Modify works like this, for ACL you must use the encasing single apostrophe ' and run it as root:
crsctl modify res ora.LISTENER.lsnr -attr "ACL='owner:oracle:rwx,pgrp:oinstall:rwx,other::r--'"
I would recommend Version 1 if short outage is acceptable. For both variants verify that you can resolve all tnsnames entries in both homes.

Do you have restrictions enabled? Settings>General>Restrictions>On? If you have it set to on, you may have disabled making changes to mail accounts in which case you would not be able to add another email account.
If that isn't the case, try the basics ...
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of thebutton.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons

HT5330 I'm trying to add another iCloud email address; it refuses password???

I am trying to create a second iCloud email address; I followed directions for Snow Leopard and get account created, am using my Apple ID signin as password. Account will not go online and keeps asking me for password. Then rejects what I type in...
Any ideas.

Firstly, it's a really bad idea to post your email addresses - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove them.
You can create an alias with anything you like before the '@' provided of course that it hasn't already been taken. However what follows the '@' can only be @icloud.com - @mac.com addresses can no longer be created, though existing ones will continue to function (and have equivalent @me.com and @mac.com versions).
As your current Charter.net address is (something)@charter.net and you are going to change it to (something)@icloud.com you are still going to have to notify all your friends as it is a change of address.
You don't say whether your charter.com address is completely independent of your iCloud account or whether it is its login (though if you have an @mac.com address that is likely to be the login). If your login is any non-Apple address you can change it to any other non-Apple address, but you cannot change to you @mac.com, @me.com or @icloud.com address (or alias address), and if your login is an @mac.com address you cannot change that.
When you add an alias you cannot access it as a separate account in Mail (it's not an account which is why when you try to add it you can't find a password for it); you can access and use it as the 'From' address as indicated in my post above.

I'm trying to add another mail account to T-bird but keep getting an "Incoming server already exists" error.

T-bird was hanging when trying to get email from my elitemail.org account (sub-domain of Fastmail.fm) so I tried deleting the account and starting over. I "thought" I cleaned out all instances of the incoming/outgoing servers and passwords, but apparently there's still a file that is hanging on to them somewhere. Before doing anything though, I 'did' .tar.bz2 the .thunderbird dir so I wouldn't lose any mail. Heck, I even went so far (after getting the above error the first time) of removing T-bird from the system, and deleting the .thunderbird dir! So I'm still getting the error, even on what is effectively a new install. What I want to know is, what file do I need to edit or delete (even AFTER backing up then deleting the .thunderbird dir) so Thunderbird really IS starting from scratch? Migrating my old email dirs is easy - but apparently getting rid of the mail servers takes an act of Congress.
Running Thunderbird 3.1.9 on Salix 13.37.

As far as Thunderbird is concerned, you can keep the profile (and any existing mail in that profile.
In any case, it should work with a new profile. Deleting the .thunderbird directory would cause Thunderbird to create a new profile when starting the next time. It would then come up empty, and you'll need to create an account again.

Trying to add another audio track to slide

Hi,
I've got a slide already containing a track that contains
typing sounds. Can I add a second audio track for my narration?
When I try to record, Captivate warns me that it's going to delete
an existing audio track.

Hi, Bob.
The warning is because it detected that you already had sound
established for that particular slide and wants to know if you've
changed your mind. There are dozens of ways to accomplish exactly
what you want. I'll outline some of the things to consider.
The number of sounds and the timing of when you hear them
depends on how and where you add the sounds. You can attach them:
1. As a background audio that runs throughout the entire
movie
2. An audio/narration track at the Slide level (that's the
waveform you may have seen in the time line)
3. An audio clip attached to an "object" such as a Text
caption/HighlightBox/Click Box, success/failure captions etc., etc.
Depending on how you attach them and spread out the objects
on the time line, you can have lots of control over when various
objects appear/disappear in "synch" with the narration.
If I understand your scenario, you could attach the the
typing sounds to an empty "dummy" object so that we hear the typing
and then add the narration at the Slide level. - that's just one
way to do it.

Trying to add another Airport Express to a network

One of 2 Airport Expresses that we use to extend signal got wet, and apparently isn't going to work again now that it's dry, so we bought a new one. I have gone into Airport Utility, and I see the Time Capsule, the non-working Airport Express, and the working Airport Express.
We've plugged in the new Airport Express, but nothing shows up in the utility. The light on the new Airport Express is flashing amber.
What am I doing wrong? How do I add this to the network?

Hi I have just aquired a Mac Pro 2006, Dual Xeon 266, 3Gb RAM 360GB HD, I have tried to add another 2TB HD but for some reason it is not identified properly and will not erase

I have spoken to Apple tech, who suggested upgrading to Snow Leopard, but reading through the tech specs I believe my Mac Pro can support Lion OS, any thoughts on this matter? I also added a 2Tb HD, which 10.4.1 the current OS on the machine, does not recognize properly. Will Snow Leopard solve this problem? Or will I have to remove the 360Gb HD and Format/erase the 2T disk and set it up as the new Boot disk? JackTar1957

We will share my account, use the same cradle, itunes library etc. I was able to move my music to the shared music folder, per online instructions. I just can't figure out how to ask the computer/itunes to recognize his ipod. THX!
