HT4623 I am trying to update my iPad 1 to iso5. And in the generals settings it does not say software update. Can you help?
I am trying to update my iPad and under my general settings there is nothing that states software update. Can someone tell me how to do this.
If you are on a version earlier thatn 5, you will not see that option. It was introduced in 5. To updare from 4x.x or earlier, you will need to connect to a computer running a current version of iTunes: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972

HT4623 My iPad does not say software update?
How do I update my iPad to iOS 5. My settings/general does not say software update?
The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11). You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes (on iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

My iPad 2 does not say software update between about and usage in general setting anyone know why this any help welcome thanks
Keith. Look in settings, general, about. About halfway down the screen is an entry labeled version. If it is anything lower than 5.0, then you wil not get wireless updates. You need to plug your pad into your computer that you set it up with which is running the current version of I tunes to get the update.
When you plug it in to i tunes, be sure to do a backup. Also, the machine will ask if you want to transfer purchases. Tell it yes. This saves your content and purchased apps and music to your iTunes on the computer. When you do the software update, it will then reload that material onto your pad.
If you have taken any pictures on your pad, be sure to upload those to I photo, or whatever photo library you are using so that they are not lost when you do the upgrade.
Once you get to the current version, any future software updates can be done over the air, not requiring you to use the computer. That feature was enabled with version 5. But it is a good idea to do backup and syncs with your computer from time to time. -

My iPad 4th gen does not show AirPlay icon can you help
IPad 4th generation is not displaying AirPlay icon that is supposed to be next to airdrop icon.
i Don't see any AirPlay settings available in settings,
i am running the latest software, what's going on Apple?SO what you are saying the AirPlay icon is not visible until you have an airplay device active to hook up to,
this seems quite a ridiculous logic most people wouldn't even know they have AirPlay and what it is as it doesn't pop up anywhere in settings or on screen, seems to be a poor marketing decision again by Apple. When I bought my $1000 device I expected to be able to wifi to printers direct and to mirror to other devices without all this mess.
are you saying something better ic coming around the corner? -

HT4623 My iPad does not have Software Update option?? How do I update to iOS5?
My iPad does not have Software Update option? How do I update to higher versions???
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you are updating using wifi, locate your iPad close to your router so you don't get a wifi dropout (can cause update corruption).
