I cannot find the update section under Settings. What do I do?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

  • I CANNOT FIND THE OPTION "PROFILE" UNDER GENERAL SETTINGS IN MY IPHONE 4 VERSION 4.2.1

I CANNOT FIND THE OPTION "PROFILE" UNDER GENERAL SETTINGS IN MY IPHONE 4 VERSION 4.2.1

So, when in doubt, check out the manual (this one is for 4.2 and 4.3: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPhone_iOS4_User_Guide.pdf).
This is what I found under the General / Settings section. Not super helpful!
    Profiles
This setting appears if you install one or more profiles
So I guess my question is, did you already set up the profile somewhere??  I searched through the manual and didn't see anything super helpful, but since you know specifically what you're looking for, maybe you'll find something I missed.

  • My iPad will not connect to the update section under the app store?

My iPad will not connect to the update section under the app store I've tried everything what do I do?

Can you download new apps? If you can, go to the App Store featured tab and do a search for one of the apps that tells you it needs an update. When the app appears in the search, tap on the app icon and the description window for the app will pop up. Try updating the app from there and see if that works.
Have you tried rebooting your router? Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again?
Look at this article and see the section about the DNS settings on the iPad.

  • I cannot update itunes because system cannot find the data itunes64.msi. What can I do?

I cannot update itunes because the latest version cannot be deleted (system is looking for itunes64.msi and cannot find). Update is going reverse. I tried to install the full version, but there is the same problem. What can I do?
When I try to deinstall the old version by windows, the same problem

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • HT4623 I am trying to update my 3GS but cannot find "software update" in general settings. Am I missing something?

I am new to the iphone world and have an older model (iphone 3GS).  I need to download ios5 and have checked out how to's but they all tell me to go to settings-general-software update.  I cannot find "software update" anywhere. Please help!!!!

Yes. You missed the part of that article which explains how to update it from iTunes on a computer; since it's running an iOS version prior to 5, it must be done from there.

  • HT4623 I cannot find software update under General in settings

I cannot find how to update software on my iPad there is nothing in settings under general

Then you are not running iOS 5.0 even though your tag line indicates that you are. You have to update using a computer running the latest version of iTunes. You can check Settings>Genera>lAbout>Version and see what iOS you have on the iPad.
You can read about how to update here.

  • I cannot find the "save as" under Lion.

I frequesntly reuse documents I have created and change sections. I want to save the changed document in a new folde. I used to go to "Save as" and change the document name and location. This is the procedure described in the pags help section. Using pages under Lion I cannot find a save as command. If I try save a version, I do not have the option to change the location. I can save as a template and put it anywhere I want and rename it, but I that is an ackward solution. How do find and install the "save as" command

Apple engineers failed to update the help but they updated the User Guides.
Since the Lion delivery there are numerous threads upon the Save As… removal.
Every asker is supposed to search in existing threads before creating a new one.
Searching for the keyword Save As was the logical behavior.

  • HT201210 iTunes cannot find the update server

After months and months of not being able to update my iPhone 4 to the new technology due to storage usage, i was finally able to. Now after two hours of waiting, my phone says it was verifying the update. My phone turned off and then turned back on and i got the plug into iTunes icon. After i plugged it in it says that the iPhone update server cannot be found.

Temporarily disable any security software on the computer then try the update again.

  • Has anyone noticed apps that they didn't purchase in the update section under the "not on this phone" tab?

As I update my apps in 4S and go to the purchased section that is in iCloud but not on the phone, I'm noticing apps that I didn't purchase in the first place. Has anyone else noticed this?

That is weird. I can't figure out why [http://maps.bing.com Bing Maps] won't hold a thumbnail but I do know why iCloud.com can't. It's because Firefox doesn't save thumbnails for sites that have https:// addresses. HTTPS is used by sites for security reasons. And last year there was a issue w/ Firefox saving thumbnails of HTTPS web pages, that when these thumbnails were enlarged or zoomed in, you could see privacy sensitive details like banking info, etc. This was b/c Firefox took random thumbnail screenshots anytime during the https:// site visits instead of just saving a thumbnail of only the very 1st visit to the https:// page and then taking no more thumbnails for that site.
But my idea above maybe not be fool-proof either. B/c if you have already saved your password and username for the https:// site to auto-login, then the very 1st page for the https:// site could contain sensitive personal info and get included in the thumbnail.
So I believe they are working on a solution to fix this problem.
Could you list the other 6 of the 9 sites you mentioned don't save thumbnails so someone else can test them?

  • Cannot find the update of Defender Chronicles of 1.2.2 (itouch/iphone game)

The admin of the support forum said that the update is submitted on 8/18/2009 to Apple.

    why why why

some other comments of the post, but still waiting apple to answer.
"Maybe they forgot about it and this could jog their memory or something"
"lets remember Apple is in a big dilemma with iphone exploding n OS 3.1 to worry about n they are being a little b**chy with which app to let through n not lol"
"taking this long, they must be low on staff, maybe bunch of pple got laid off due to current economy"
    "this is insane "
"Ahh apple must have only one staff who passes out after to much using of the brain!!"
"Really though, cant they like get a buncha interns to help approve apps? They must be really low on staff if it takes this long to approve an update O.o"
"i think they are lazy... not more =/"
"They're just busy approving useless apps to boost their app totals. I was first amazed that there were 50,000 apps in iTunes, but come to think of it, 30,000 are books, 15,000 are travel guides and weather apps to every **in town on earth, 4,500 are tip calculators, and probably only about 100-500 are actually useful apps/good games."

The sound function cannot be activated anymore under settings. I can modify the sound associated with a call for example, but cannot access the list of all sounds anymore

The first thing you'll want to do is double check to make sure the headset is plugged all the way in. The white part of the headset should be flush with the body of the Nano.
Next, reset the iPod by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

The wiFi is connected and working

Also the 1st gen device was discontinued awhile ago, since it runs on a different OS compared to the newer models it hasn't received any updates for 3 or 4 years now. There would be no update to check for.
