According to the iTunes download page, it still supports Windows XP.

If your XP computer was updated, then it should work. Again, the links I posted earlier contain the current USB drivers for the iPhone and Windows.

What drives to buy depends an awful lot on how you will use them, what your budget is, and your preferences.
In the case of your DP Powermac, for online storage used primarily for editing, I would add one or more internal drives first. Look for drives that are at least 7200rpm and have at least an 8MB cache. 10,000rpm/16MB cache is even better, but more expensive. Seagate Barracudas have always been good choices.
For backup purposes, I'd pick some good external FireWire drives; you can also use these for online editing, lots of people do. Your Mac has both FW400 and FW800 ports - either kind is fine but if you get drives that support both, you would want to connect them to the FW800 port for the added performance.
In my experience, the Lacie d2 Extreme drives have been very very good. In fact I have 3 of them daisy-chained off my iMac G5 right now and they work flawlessly with FCE. Weibetech and Granite Digital drives are further upscale in performance and price. RAID configurations would be even further upscale. Do stay away from consumer level hard drives, however ... the Western Digital MyBook series & no-name drives come to mind ...
Don't use a FireWire hub for your external drives, it's just asking for trouble.

I kept all my iPhones after I upgrading to the latest one each time my 2 year contract was up so I have an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 & iPhone 4S. I actually still use all 3 phones for different purposes. My iphone 3gs is not activated, but I still use it for apps among other things when connected to wifi. My iphone 4 & 4s are both activated with 2 saparete phone numbers, but I have all 3 devices on the same iTunes account. I never noticed this to be a problem until just recently when I was thinking about selling one of my iphones since I'm now due to upgrade again to the iPhone 5. Well my problem is that when the latest iphone software update came available I noticed that all 3 iPhones had a notification letting me know that there was a new update available & I didn't want to update my iphone 4 & 4S until I had a recent back-up on my pc just incase anything went wrong like once before. Referring to the last time I updated my iphone 4s for some reason right in the middle of the update it lost connection. So I had to restore my entire phone from scratch & because I didn't check to make sure that had a recent back up right before I updated I ended up losing a lot of important information. So anyway since my iphone 3GS I knew had a recent back up & plus it doesn't have a lot of important information stored on it I chose to go ahead & update it first. Then later on when I went to update my other two iPhones I noticed the notification that was there before on all my phones to let me know the update was available was now gone & it would not give me the option to update either of my other two phones. I don't know if this is true or not, but I was later told that Apple will only let you download the free update software on only one device on each iTunes account & since I have all 3 devices on one itunes account I could only choose to update one. I didn't know this beforehand so I used the update on my 3GS which I barely use except to play with on wifi & now my other two iPhones which are the main ones I use are both activated now function very slow & constantly crash. Also if I was to choose to sale one of the iPhones without the latest software update on it does that mean that the new owner will not be able to get the latest update meaning the phone would be out of date without having that latest software installed? If anyone knows how to help me fix this or give some advice I would really appreciate!!
That's utter non-sense.
Just connect your 4 & 4S, iTunes running, & hit the "Check for Updates" button, or you can update directly on the phones(if running iOS 5.0 or higher): Settings>General>Software Update.
iOS 6.1.3 is the current iOS version for both phones. -
i can't use my iPhone after i updated it. It says that "your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting you iPhone to iTunes to activated it, or try again in a couple of minutes" and the iTunes says that "There is no sim card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. Please disconnect and insert a sim card in the iPhone." i've already done what it says but it still no use. what shouls I do?
This happens when a jalbroken/hacked phone is updated to iOS 6. Your phone is now bricked. You will never get it activated.
You need to buy a new phone. -
After updating my iphone4 to iOS 7.0.4. I am having a problem with my iCloud. Message keeps coming up you must accept iCloud's terms and conditions. Options are not now or ok. Choose ok and message comes up unable to connect to server.. Does anybody no how to fix this problem???

import photos using iPhoto on your mac.
plug your phone in, open iphoto if it doesn't open automatically.
your device should open up in iphoto so you can view your pictures. click import all and you can choose to delete from device after import or not. -
Just upgraded to I-Photo 11 but now cannot import my photos anymore from my Nikon digital camera to my MacBook. Worked fine until the upgrade.The camera first shows a message "ready to import", then a message "communication error".Thanks for any suggestions?

Hi guys, When I try to update my iphone4s to the latest software on itunes via my MacBook a message displays a message: 'This iPhone "Seans iphone" cannot be updated at this time because the iphone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable'. This has happened a few time s now. I have look through the FAQ's but no luck. Can someon help? Cheers

I updated my iPhone 5 to the new iOS7 and the phone keeps asking me to log into my iCloud account. but when I do, a pop up window asks to Review Terms and I select View Tems vs. the Not Now button and nothing happens. I have turned the phone off and back on and the same thing happens. It asks me to go to Settings and when I do, the iCloud icon is grayed out. I cannot seem to log into the cloud. HELP???
I don't recall where, but if you hunt, you will be able to find an "accept" button. I think you also need to check a box that says something like "I have read and agree ..."

I updated to the new IOS and I cannot access the App Store -- everything else works -- even ITunes -- what do I do to fix this?
1. Make sure internet is working
2. Make sure you are using the latest software
3. Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
4. Make sure Time Zone is correct

If you do not have any Apps that *need* iOS 7 or any real need to update and you are updating just for the sake of updating, I would just wait. You could very well have an issue-free update as the majority of people have but you also stand the chance of running into issues reported here and elsewhere.
You will eventually have to update though due to apps eventually requiring iOS 7. In my personal use, I have no need nor desire to update at this point...there's no big rush. Wait for a few more iOS updates that will hopefully clear up some of the more common issues users are having. Remember that once you DO update to iOS 7, it's impossible to go back to the previous iOS version. -

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup. -
How do you upload imported cd's onto an ipad with the latest ios.

Assuming that you imported the music into iTunes on the computer ....
Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. If you auto sync, let the process complete.
Click on the iPad name on the left sidebar under the devices heading.
Click on the Music Tab in iTunes on the right.
Click on the Sync Music heading
Click on all of the songs, playlists, albums, etc. that you want to transfer to the iPad.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. -

It is not telling you to update your iphone, it is telling you that you need to update itunes on your computer.
