HT4623 I cannot update to iOS 8, please help!

I cannot update to iOS 8 because i get the not enough storage error, even though i have 4.6GB free, according to usage. What can i do? Except using itunes because i'm on holiday and i do not have acces to a computer.

StylishedTomato wrote:
I see, but how large is this update? Aren't 4GB enough? This is pretty weird
It seems to have ranged from about 4.6 to (in my case on a 5S) 5.6 gigs. As with any software download, the amount of space required to download and install the update directly on the phone is much larger than the amount the software actually takes up.

  • HT4623 I cannot update my iOS even when I use the update button from iTunes.

When I use the update button from iTunes it gives me this message " the iPad soft where update server could not be contacted (that's in boldface). Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connections is active, or try again later." my network settings are active and correct (I think it is correct) and I tried again later many times. Please help me I want to go to iOS 6.1.

This happens a lot! Go to settings> general> reset> reset network settings. When this is completed, anything stopping the update will be removed. Try it again after that.

  • TS3694 Tried to update to ios 6 please help

Tried to update to ios 6 and the download got to 99% before error code 3194 displayed and I cannot reload any software now, please help

    Goto --
    My Computer --> C Drive--> Windows --> System32-->Drivers-->Etc--> Host File
-Cut (remove) this host file and past it on desktop.
-Now comeback to itunes - provided you have fresh itune installation after removing it COMPLETELY from your system (Ref- http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923?viewlocale=en_US).
-Plug in your iphone to  your windows via active USB port (no hub) and with good internet connection.
    - Repeat  the ios update process and avoid doing multitasking ( I was lil careful... :)).. And that worked for me ...updation took max 10 min's.
    - Once the ios updation process is done , follow the instructions and complete the ragistration process. restart your iphone and its on ios 6 EnJOY !
    - Put the HOST file back to its original  path.
If this resolves your problem , Like it :-)

  • Im having Iphone 3GS purchased from USA right now im in India so if i update my ios from 4 to 5 will my phone get locked..? if so can how to unloack that? i want to update the ios 5 please help

im using iphone 3GS with ios 4.1;the iphone is purchased from USA and unlocked;I live in India so if I update to IOS 5 will my phone get locked? if so how to unlock in that case? please help

No 3GS sold in the US was ever unlocked officially. Any attempts to update a hacked or un-officially unlocked iPhone will likely result in it being relocked to the original carrier.

  • Cannot update songs into ipod, please help.

    Hello,
Thank you for your time in advance.
I have updated my iTunes and that is fine. However, I cannot update my iPOD update. There is a message, "iPOD Setup.Exe is not a valid Win 32 application."
I suspect that's why I cannot update my songs. I have tried everything for the last 4 hours, including restoring my ipod and my itunes, to no avail.
    Can anyone offer a suggestion?
    Thank you.

hmmmmm. it might be a good idea if you do a check through your PC for malware. that message is suspiciously similar to one folks can get as a result of a Pretty Park infection:
You Are Unable to Start a Program with an .exe File Extension
but if the PC seems clean, try downloading a fresh copy of the ipod updater installer. (that message can also sometimes show up if the installer file gets damaged during the download.)

  • PROBLEM UPDATING TO iOS 7 PLEASE HELP!!

Hi! So i own an iPad Mini, and i tried to update it through iTunes, but it only showed a message that Authentication Services were unavailable at the moment, i tried to update it via software update but it showed me the same message since this morning.
I resetted it! the iPad, and now i can´t get past the "Slide to set up screen" (i can´t get past the wi-fi authentication for the iPad)
I purchased this iPad on December 2012.
    PLEASE HELP!
    IT WOULD MEAN A LOT!

The "unavailable" message most likely has nothing to do with the setup on your end. The servers are crazy busy right now (everyone and their brother seems to be updating right at release), so it could just be that it's having problems establishing a connection. May want to try it again later tonight or tomorrow.

  • Error (3) in iTunes. iPhone 4S cannot be restored [iOS 7] Please Help.

It all started a couple of days ago. My phone was already on iOS 7 only, as in 7.0. I kept checking for software updats. Your phone is on the latest version it told me. No it wasn't. I wanted to upgrade to 7.0.2. but it wasn't showing that I need an upgrade (on the phone itself or in iTunes) thus, I couldn't update. This is when I INTIALLY RESTORED my phone.
    1st:
Restored my phone. Finally updated to  7.0.2. but it COULD NOT pass the activation screen when setting it up as a new phone.
    2nd:
I did a full restore again - not from a backup and somehow got my phone completely back to the way it was before I started ANY of this process only difference was I was FINALLY on 7.0.2. like I wanted. Great, just what I wanted. My phone worked fine I was able to recieve / make calls, texts, etc. I was connected to my (Sprint) network and it was all normal...until the next day.
    3rd:
My phone lost signal (so I thought). All it said was "Searching..." and contacted Sprint. They tried to fix the issue but couldn't. After a long while the Sprint Rep reccomended that I should restore my phone again. He told me to do it from my phone "Erase all data or whatever" but of course I didn't listen, not to be defiant but I didn't know how much to trust the phone vs the computer backup...BIG mistake. I figured I should backup my phone from my computer so I attempted to restore my phone through computer / iTunes anyways.
NOW my phone will not restore no matter how hard I try.
I tried DFU mode and restore it. I erased and updated the hosts file via the users> windows>system32>etc>hosts. NOTHING is working.
I'm stuck in recovery mode with the plug into itunes symbol.
Every time I do attempt to restore hoping MAYBE this time might be different the restore progress bar goes all the way full nearly...with the tinest sliver almost not even visible left that won't be completed when iTunes then pops up with the error message.
I used to get error message 3194 but now I'm just getting error message 3.
*ABOVE ALL I want to be able to access into my phone again but **KEEP IN MIND** somehow, as I previously explained, I skipped the activation screen. So I don't even know if my phone is activated any more.
Luckily my iTunes still recognizes my device and that it is in recovery mode and tries to restore it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH if you can help me! I really appreciate it all!

I have purchased unlocked phone which i had a broken rear glass and got the same replaced at Apple for $200 and have had a problem with network it was going to searching for eternity. For restoring had to disable Find My iPhone which was not working and so was advised in the community to erase the phone and restore it from iTunes on Mac. I did the same and even took the help of Customer Care Executive who tried along with me to hard reset the phone and restore it.
It would throw up the Error couldn't restore Error (3)
Tried on multliple Macs ( Thankfully have two of them) wouldn't work and then also tried on windows 8 machine wouldn't work even then.
Now i will have to go to the Store again.
Somehow suspect if the replacement phone i got was a refurbished one not a brand new one. moreover consistent issues on the network suggest that the activation wouldn't have happened in the first place.
Need help if my assumptions are true. Else would have to sue Apple in India for supplying defective handsets.
I will sue them the moment they want me to pay again for the replacement.

  • Ipod is not read by windows, and cannot update!!! please help...

I have a 30GB, 7500 song ipod Video, just bought last year. The issue all started a month or so ago. I use the "iPod dock connector to USB 2.0 cable" to connect the ipod to the computer. I have tried both USB ports that I have, and both do not work. The ipod is not read by the computer, therefore, the computer acts like there is no connection. Itunes as well, does not read the ipod. I cannot add new songs to the ipod, or even charge it. I have tried all the things the website has said (i.e. restart computer, reset ipod, reinstall itunes, download latest version of itunes). I just updated to itunes 7 today, and this problem has gone on for awhile, therefore it is not because of the itunes 7. Since I figure it is the dock connector I have put in a self service request.
Apparently this is a common problem...Anyone have any advice? I am desperate...Thanks in advance.

On iTunes go click Store (on the top left side) then click Authorize computer...

When I go into Settings > General there is no "Software Update" for me to click. How am I supposed to update my iPod???

To update as far as your model iPod will allow
The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5 and later.

  • 1611 Error on iTunes 10.5 Trying to update to iOS 5 Please HELP!!!

1st off i had an ipod touch 4th gen which was determinted by apple to be hardware defectived. They gave me a new iPod touch 4G no questioned asked. The issue i'm having is my new device is having the same issue my old one was having with the 1611 error. I can not restore at all. Not even in DFU mode which doesn't do anything unless you want a custom firmware which i dont. When i begin the restore process everything seems normal up until it says "preparing ipod for restore" at the point its stuck there until the 1611 error shows up. I've done pretty much everything from uninstalling all parts of itunes, quick time, bonjour, device support, etc. I also changed the host file deleteing the last line. Changing the USB cable. And updating all drivers and software and disabling all security. The only thing i am unable to do is change computers because my older desktop is currently down. If anyone can tell me if the Apple Severs are down? or if there are others having these errors or issues please email me at [email protected] or replying to this post. I would greatly appricate it i've been trying to figure this out for weeks. Thank you, Randy.

Thank you for all of your suggestions. I was able to restore my phone and none of my data was lost. For some reason, all I did was plug in the USB in another location on my laptop after I restarted, reinstall and trouble shooted all of the suggestions given on the iSupport screens. It was a time-consuming effort, but well-worth it not to lose my data. Thumbs up to the iCommunity! Love you guys!

  • Why do i always get "cannot connect to itunes" message whenever i download after putting my password? plus i cannot update my apps? please help me thanks :)

why do i always get "cannot connect to itunes" whenever i update my apps or buy anything from the store while my ipod can download? it has thesame email user

I use only one Apple ID and only one ID. I did have to change the password at one point but I had no issues at all with updating apps after I changed the password.
If you can download new apps with the ID that you changed the password for, I would think that you will be able to update apps associated with that ID as well.
Did you try restarting the iPad after signing out of the one account and then sign in to the other account/accounts?

Need help updating my iPAD iOS. There is no "Software Update" button in my general settings.

Settings>General>Software Update is only available in IOS 5 and above.
If you are using IOS 4, you need to connect to iTune (computer) to update software.

  • Hi, I am trying to update my ipod touch 4th gen. I have downloaded the newest iTunes and each time i try to update i keep getting error 3004 i'm on firmware 5.1.1 trying to update to iOS 6. please help

    Need help

Ok make sure you have iTunes 11. Then connect iPod touch to computer then iTunes should pop up automatically. After it opens on the bottom left there should be a tab where it says your name and then iPod. For example (Johns iPod) click on that then it brings all your information of the iPod including restore and updating.
    Dont worry

  • HT4623 If I don't have a software update option, does that mean I cannot update to iOS 5?

I do not have a software update option in my settings.  Does this mean I cannot update my iOS version?

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.
