    Error -1
Attempt to restore your iOS device two more times. If the issue is still unresolved, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Right click the filename that won't download and selsct 'Get Info'. Look at the file path, does it have a //?// in it? That is a problem with Amazon downloads that prevent iTunes from finding the file. Use 'Add Folder' to add the album to your library and try syncing it again

This problem does seem pretty random, affecting just a small number of tracks. Apparently it is due to some file corruption or something... Anyway, this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2654317?start=15&tstart=0 has a couple of solutions spelled out. Basically the same thing that a-monk-at-large suggested above. (Delete and redownload the offending tracks.)

  • When I click update on Itunes to update my IPod Touch it says an error occured.

When I update my Ipod it says that an error has occured. It has done that twice.

If y are updating via Settings>General>Softwar update:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try connecting the iPod to your computer and updating via iTunes
If you are updating via iTunes what does the error message say?

  • Ipod cannot be synced unknown error occured (-48)

    _Help needed please!_
I've just got a new laptop, downloaded the latest version of itunes on it, connected my ipod to it (old click wheel version 20GB) and this error message keeps popping up:
*'The ipod "ipods name" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured. (-48)'*
I've never had a problem with my ipod or itunes before, but now this error keeps occuring and it won't let me add any music to my ipod or remove any music from my ipod.
I preferably don't want to restore my ipod because i don't have all the music on it on my new laptop, so I'd lose a lot. I gather syncing the ipod will match what's in the itunes library to the actual ipod? I don't want to do this anyway as I have nothing in my itunes library & i don't want the music that is on my ipod removed, so i'm very confused....
*Anyone have any ideas of what i should do?????*

Your iPod will mimic your iTunes so if there is no music in the library it will wipe the other music that you have on there off so if you don't want to lose the music its probably not a good idea to connect it
    as for the error
the same thing happened to mine for a while when i first got my ipod it would sync 250 songs or so and then come up with the same thing.

  • Im trying to put music on my iPod, but it keeps saying "iPod cannot be synced unknown error occurred". Whats wrong?

I tried to put music on my ipod and it keeps saying "cannot sync ipod unknown error occured" whats wrong??

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • HT4623 I cant update my ipod

how do I install the iOS to my ipod?

    To update
The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5 and later.
Connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes
iTunes 10 for Windows: Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
A 1G iPod can go to iOS 2.2 via iTunes and iOS 3.1.3 via
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10.X. If a Mac it requires OSX 10.5.8 or later. With 1OSX 10.4.11 you can only go to iTunes 9.X which gets you as high as iOS 4.1
A 3G to 5.1.1  Requires iTunes version 10.5 or later
A 4G to 6  Requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. For a Mac, that requires a Mac with OSX 10.6.8 or later

  • I am getting this error: "There was a problem downloading i0S 3.3.3 Software Update for an iPod touch". An unknown error occurred (8288)."

I have a first gen iPod running on 2.2.1 that will not upate to 3.3.1. after purchasing the update from Apple. How do I get a refund or, if possible actually get it to update?  I'd like to be able to use some new apps like Netflix and Facebook, but most apps now require newer at least 3.3.1.

    - Try uninstalling iTunes version 10.5 and instlaling 10.4. You will have to Google to find it.
    - Otherwise contact iTunes:

  • Attempting to copy to the disk "My iPod" failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)

After restoring my iPod 160G because it had frozen on the Apple logo, it started displaying this message whenever I attempted to resync it to my computer. There are a bunch of different files causing the problem, different each time, and it doesn't seem to be coming in in any particular order.
I've moved computers and had my library wiped out but all my files in their scattered locations about my computer had synced up fine to my iPod before I restored it.
If I have to remove the offending files that's fine, but there must be an easier way then starting and restarting a 10,000+ song syncing and waiting for a bad file to pop up to go uncheck it.
    Thank you very much!

Yes I've already seen this article. But because I have over 10,000 songs, it takes much to long to sync and re-sync my iPod, waiting for the bad file to pop up each time. This isn't being cause by any one song but by several. I'm trying to find a quicker way to identify the bad files.

  • Update iOS 7.1.2 - an unknown error occurred (3).

    Hi good people,
My iPhone 4s is now a brick.
I tried to upgrade it from 7.1.1 to 7.1.2 yesterday via WiFi but every time I had an error message, that I can't install it (reason unknown). So today I tried to upgrade it via iTunes (USB). Everything was fine until the progress bar reached the end and some error message showed up on the PC screen (Windows 7 BTW):  Error (3) unable to restore. So now I'm in a neverending recovery mode. Every time I try to restore my iPhone there are iTunes steps:
    -Extracting software
    -Preparing iPhone to restore
    -Waiting for iPhone
    -Verify iPhone restore
    -Restoring iPhone Software
    -Verify iPhone Software
    -Verify iPhone restore
    -Restoring iPhone firmware
    and then:
And I have a brick now. Any suggestions?

I have downloaded the final version of iOS 8 and have tried to restore again. Of course with the same result, error 3014 than almost at the end error 3. So my iPhone is still a brick. What interesting is, that now the recovery mode screen on my iPhone (you know the cable and iTunes icon) is different. The iTunes icon is red instead of blue. Of course that changes nothing
