Which iPod Touch you got!?
If you are on iOS 5 you should be able to find it in Settings -> General -> Software Update
If not, first, make sure you've got the latest version of iTunes.
After you got the latest version, connect the iPod and hit the update button. iTunes will download the latest iOS for your iPod depending on it's generation.
3rd, 4th Generation - iOS 5.1.1
2nd Generation - iOS 4.2.1
1st Generation - 3.1.3
This should solve your issue -
Hi. I have an iphone4 and can't update my iOS. I don't have "software update" as a option under general settings. How do I update my phone?
If you are using iOS 4 (or earlier) there is no Software Update in Settings. That feature was first added in iOS 5.
To update you will have to connect your iPhone to iTunes on a computer (preferably the one you sync with and backup to).

I want to be able to update latest iOS but I don't have the software update section under the setting, what do I need to do?
The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

HT4623 I don't have software upgrade in my settings, I need to know why?
I don't have software upgrades in my settings how can I get it?
If you don't have at least iOS 5 you won't have the software update option.
You'll need to connect your iPad to a Computer running iTuines (Can be a Mac or a Pc doesn't matter) and follow the update prompts.
You'll probably want to back up the iPad before updating though.
In the article you came from, scroll down to the section titled: Update your device using iTunes and follow those instructions. -

Don't have software update in my general settings, why? And whatever I try my iPhone won't let me update software. Suggestions
The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad or iPhone to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the device to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the device as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the device by right-clicking the iPad/iPhone 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the device on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

An iPad 2 will update to iOS 6.0.1 (which is the only version that is 'signed' by Apple), so you will lose the built-in YouTube app and the Maps app will change. -

I have a Macbook Pro early 2011. i don't have AirPlay on my computer. How can I get it. I have read that early 2011 should have the AirPlay option. Any ideas please.
Hi All,
I need your expert advice to proceed. I bought apple TV and it works fine with my iPad and iPhones also fine with itune of my Mac Book Pro BUT I am not seeing setting which says "Airplay Mirroring" in system preference -> Display at all.
I checked my mac serial number and it shows the model as below. As far as I understood this feature should be there from 2011 onwards.
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011)
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b)
Please suggest!!
Thanks and Regards
