HT4623 I have a new handset as my previous one was damaged. With regards to backing everything which option do I choose when backing up, set up as a new iphone or, restore from this backup iphone?
I have a new hanset as my previous one ws damaged and everything was lost. When backing up which option should I use "set up as a new iphone or, restore from this , back up Jo's iphone"..
Thanks.
You may do whatever you like.
If you want to set it up using the backup of your old iphone then choose that.
If you do not then choose as new.

How do I transfer itunes music to my iphone 4 without using the restore from this backup function? I cannot use the back up function as have been advised that therer are bugs in it and restoring it back to my phone will bring the bugs with it and phone will be back to apple again as will start playing up again. But I need the music. Whn I plug it in laptop and go to itunes icon it gives me 2 options: Set up as new iphone? OR Restore from backup.
Do I pick set up as new phone? I dont know as the guy at the genius bar told me there would be an option asking if i want to sync itunes only...but there isn't.Set up as New and then... Re-Sync your Content from iTunes.

iTunes is recoznizing my iPod as a new iPod and only gives me the options of set up as new iPod or to restore from a backup. I put my old backup on it and everytime I plug it in it still recognizes it as a new iPod. I've tried restoring it several times and it doesn't help anything and I've also uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it but it didn't help. Please I really need some help I can't download any music with it doing this.
There maybe better ways to do this, but this worked for me when things stopped working a couple of updates back.
Try this; Make sure your stuff is backed up on your computer first. plug the iPod to your computer and do the restore to factory setting. Then set up as if it's a brand new out of the box iPod. (DON"T use your backup copy) Go through all the steps of first time set up. Once complete, add back all your stuff, music, apps, pictures, etc. from your computer. I know it's a pain, but it worked for me.
By the way; the reason I'm doing this total restore is the RED square in the RED circle. All my music downloaded from CDs became unreadable / unplayable today, (worked fine yesterday-- today crap!!) and none of the fixes listed in this forum would work for me. So I started over, after the restore, the RED circles are gone and my music is playing.
Hope it works, Good Luck! -
New phone still restoring from iCloud backup
i have purchased a 5s four days ago, it's stating still restoring from iCloud backup.
my old phone 4s I backed up to cloud wifi and launched new phone data through wifi as have no computer. it won't let me access any apps or iTunes or complete iOS 8.3 until this is completed. Help please.I finally got mine to work. I let the iphone run its course and it finally restored everything. I wanted to make sure I got everything back, but it didn't sync my non itunes purchased music, so I had to manually do that via the computer. By my estimates it took almost 80 hours, minus 20 of those spent at work and odd hours here and there when I wasn't connected to wifi. So about 50ish
It is frustrating though that it took so long. Apple needs to come up with a better solution in the future. I thought this problem was solved last year with the problems that plagued the ios7 update. It will probably only get worse since iCloud storage just got upped for everyone. -

I made the backup from Firefox 3.6.12 with the backup program provided by Mozella. I made this backup from a prior computer and therefore do not have the restore program available, which is part of the backup program. I will have the same question for Thunderbird because I used the same program. PLEASE HELP!
That backup program isn't ''from'' Mozilla, it's a 3rd party program. You probably used MozBackup to do that PCV backup.

There a link to usage instructions, a ''"how-to.pdf"''' file, at the top of this support page. <br />

HT4859 backup options will be available when your ipad is restored from this backup
I set up a new ipad using the back from my old ipad on icloud. I then updated all new apple ids, etc. on the old ipad which is going to my spouse. When I try and back up my new ipad to icloud I see both my old and new ipads. And I cannot start a back up until a restore is complete. Do I stop restoring the ipad and/or do I delete the old ipad back up? Please advice.

Do I set up my iphone 4s as new device or restore from backup?
I have an Iphone 4 (OS 4) - upgrading to Iphone 4s (OS 5) - then I begin the set up of Iphone 4s, so I say set up as a new device or restore from a backup?
I have already backed-up and synced my Iphone 4 to Itunes (not to cloud because I didn't upgrade the old phone to OS 5). I am scared to death to try this and when they give that choice I am not sure which to pick..any help would be greatly appreciated.I would suggest restore from a backup if you have the backup available. This way settings and other items will be restored once the process is complete.
I hope this helps! -
I had a new handset delivered today due to my old one being damaged. As I went to restore from iCloud backup it is telling me I can't due to the handset not having iOS 7.1. How can I resolve this issue?
Could I select 'Set up as New IPhone' and then update to iOS 7.1 and then proceed to restore the phone from my most recent iCloud backup ?
Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.Hi again razmee209!
It has been updating since your last message and it says there's another 6 hours to go, does this sound right or is there a possibility I've been sent a re-con and the update will slow down my new handset considerably?! -
iPhone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore it. Now the only option iTunes allows is for "restore & upgrade", it is not offer an option to restore from a backup, says that must first do the upgrade, when attempting to do the upgrade the iPhone won't accept it.
How can I restore from a back up in recovery mode when the only option is "restore and upgrade"?
Please help. You don't you must restore your phone first and then you will have the option to restore from your backup.

I had my iPad 2 replaced by Applestore today. On the new iPad I tried to restore from iCloud backup point but was told I was unable to do this as the new iPad needed to have the latest running system iOS 7 loaded. Is there a way I can do this so I can get my iCloud backup or do I need to go back to Applestore and get an iPad preloaded with iOS 7?
If you feel comfortable you can do the Update to iOS 7 yourself and after you have successfully done that... then Restore your iCloud Back Up.
If you are not comfortable in doing it yourself... Then go back to the Apple Store and get them to do it.
They will be Happy to assist you.
