Since an iPhone 3G cannot be updated past iOS 4.2.1...the end of the line for that model iPhone...you can't do what you want, so there's nothing to be fearful of.

Your WiFi/Bluetooth chip has failed. Bring the phone (and $199 if outside the warranty period) to Apple for replaceement.

With iOS 4, the only way to update your software is connected to iTunes. OTA (over the air) updates were not available until iOS 5. You will need to connect your iPhone to a computer and use iTunes to download and install the iOS updates on your iPhone (at least until your iOS version is 5.0 or higher).

You won't see this until you update to iOS 5. You'll have to update using iTunes by going to the Summary tab of your sync settings and clicking on Check for Update (you will probably be prompted that there is an update available when you connect your phone and open iTunes).

I got information that i need to put sim card with no pin code and i did it and also they asked to connect it to Itunes and i did it but i-tunes did not read my mobile and this is the problem. can you help?

4.2.1 is the end of the line for the 3G. It was discontinued over 2 1/2 years ago. You will need to buy a new phone if you want to use that app (and many others) if you don't already have an older version saved in your iTunes library.

Sorry, iOS 4.2.1 is the end of the line for your phone. You cannot update your iOS any further.

Thank you. I did try this, but the Apple Server would not connect, indicating that the network would not allow connection. I checked the set-up, there did not seem to be anything wrong. The network is Wi-Fi, high speed, and the interactions to iTunes work except when trying to do the iOS update. So, I think it is time for a trip to the nearest Apple store. Thanks again for the help.
