I need to update my software on my ipad. Somehow I have to put in my passcode and don't know the number. Is there someway I can change it or take it off please help me.

Hi, When you forgot iPhone/iPad passcode, you can restore your device from iTunes, then you can reset your passcode.
1. Connect your iPhone to computer via a USB cable;
2. Click View > Show Sidebar, your iPhone will show up in the left sidebar.
3. Click "Restore iPhone", and you can successfully reset iPhone passcode by clicking "Restore Backup".

Have you already activated the iPad? That is what the screen is telling you to do - connect to the computer with the supplied cable and run iTunes while connected - and iTunes should guide you through the set up process. If you have already set up the iPad and you are still getting thos screen message - restore your iPad. You must be running iTunes 10.5 on your computer as well.

When I'm uploading music to my ipod, a message appears that says some of my songs aren't going to upload because I need to update. But when I try using the ipod updater, I only get the choice to restore, which I want to try and avoid.
Why is update faded out? Next to the version of iPod sotware I'm running it says I need to update but it won't let me. I'm following all the instructions that I can find but I'm still having problems.

Incredibly I have been through this miserable scenario - and posted about it in another thread. I finaly succeeed in overcoming it. How you ask. Well ( and I am one who just bought a Mac and was thinking of switching for good) - a Windows 200 Machine running an old 4.x version of iTunes. Say's I said a Windows machine !
As soon as I dowenloaded and installed the updater it allowed me to upgrade - and I did to 2.3. So the probelem is either the Mac version or more liley 5.0 itself.
Now why oh why would I have to use a 4 yeard lod Windows 200 machine to update to the latest firmware on my Apple iPod, to make be able to play music that I purchased from the Appple store - somethng I could not do with my brand new Apple G5 anf Apple iTunes 5.0. I seem like I am repeating Apple again and again. Yeah ...right. good thing I didn;t throw ou that old Windows piece of junk huh ? The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.

You must first buy Snow Leopard from Apple: 800-MY-APPLE (in the US)

If your iMac has a PowerPC processor, Leopard OS 10.5.x is the max OS. If your iMac has an Intel processor, it can run Snow Leopard OS 10.6.x or possibly higher.
Once we know your iMac model, we can better recommend what OS X version.
