HT4623 I ran the IOS 7 update and now my phone is stuck in recovery mode. Help?

I ran the IOS 7 update on my phone and now it is stuck in recovery mode. On my phone it shows a cord and the I Tunes logo.  When I connect to I Tunes it tells me "itunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."  Then it only gives me the option to Restore iPhone.  But when I click on this it gives me the message that it is going to reset my phone to factory settings.  Doesn't this mean I will loose everything?  What do I do?  Is there a way to fix this without losing everything?
Help?
Thank you,
Nicole

  • I tried updating to the new iOS 6.1, and now my iPod is stuck in Recovery mode.

I've tried DFU mode and Recovery mode, but neither seem to work. It won't update. When I connect the iPod to my computer, it says it has detected an iPod in Recovery mode, and it must be restored before it can be used with iTunes. When I click on the "Restore iPod" button, it downloads the new firmware, and makes me repeat the process. I've already called Apple Support, but they couldn't help, either.
    Help me, please.

  • I just installed the iOS 7 update and now my phone won't turn on.

I went to install the automatic update for my phone. Now it won't turn on. What do I do?

First try a Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

Try Restoring it 3 times in a row and see if that works.
If not that error can indicate one of two things: Your iPhone was at one time jailbroken, had the iOS version rolled back, or ran an unauthorized beta and if none of those things are true it is a hardware error.

  • I backed up my iPhone to my computer before I did the ios 8 update and now when i go t restore it it tells me there isnt enough space on the iphone. I lost half of my pictures in my camera roll. Is there anyway i can get these back?

You did import these important photos over to an alternative storage medium, just like you would with any digital camera, right?

Are you running Leopard on your Mac, Laurie?
If so, try instead updating to iTunes 10.6.3.25. (That supports earlier models of iPhones running iOS 6, even though it can't run the new iPhone 5s.)
A .dmg installer for iTunes version 10.6.3.25 for Mac OS can be found at the following download page on the Apple website:

  • Tried updating to iOS 6, now my phone is stuck in recovery mode...help?

I tried updating my phone to the iOS 6 software, and my iTunes won't read my phone at all. It keeps saying that "your iphone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored." I restored it for an hour and it didn't work at all. Now my phone is stuck in recovery mode. I'm away at college and I don't know how to fix it. Help!

No, it is my phone that I've had since 2009. I just hate updating it because every time I do something goes wrong. So I put it off as long as possible. I am getting a new iphone, but I read that to have your backup transfer to the new phone, it must be a backup from the current ios.

    RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • I have a 3gs. I tried to update the ios today. Now my phone is stuck in recovery mode and itunes is not recognizing. I also tried DFU mode, still nothing. I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled. Help.

I have a 3gs, and I haven't updated it for a long time because I always have issues when I do. I tried to update the ios today, and it decided to update it to 6.1.3 instead of 7, I didn't think there would be a problem, so I clicked ok. When I came to check on my phone, itunes said there was an error with the update, and my phone was in recovery mode (plug-in sign on the screen). I looked up multiple things to try, I tried putting it in DFU mode, still itunes doesn't see it. The computer also doesn't list it under devices, however when it is plugged in the Apple Mobile Support USB Driver shows up in device manager. I have tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling, still nothing. I just want to know if there is anything else I can try. Thanks.

  • HT5858 I downloaded the ios 7 update, and now none of my apps are showing as shortcut icons on the home screen.

I know the apps are all still on my phone because when I go to the app store and choose an app I have the "open" option instead of "install". Also when I double-tap the home screen I see all of the icons to scroll through at the bottom of the screen, I can tap on one and open it up with no problem, but how do I get the icons to show back up on the home screen?

Sync with itunes or on your phone go to appstore - update - purchase - all or not on this phone and redownload the app.

  • I just updated to iOS 6.1 and my iPad 3 is stuck in recovery mode???

After receiving the prompt to update my software on my iPad 3 Retina, I plugged the iPad into the charger and began the software update. A few seconds later, everything went black and the plug into iTunes icons appeared. I think this is called the recovery mode screen.
I tried plugging into iTunes on my iMac, but it wants me to restore the ipad and I will lost all of my apps and content. What the **** is going on here???
Why cant Apple make a **** software update that JUST WORKS???
    Can anyone please help...

Its absolutely imperative you make new backups of your data before updating any software for the above reasons, alone.
You will nomt looseany of your purchased content fomr the itunes/app stores though. You can redownload them directly on the device after restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
If a recent backup contains the data you want, just restore from said backup.

  • I did the new software update and now my phone wont work at all and keeps saying it needs to be restored from back up

I had my phone plugged in to my iTunes yesterday and downloaded the new software. I then went to install the new software and it crashed half way through with an error message. Then it went off completely and wiped everything. I tried to restore from back up and now it says it has restored from yesterdays back up, restarts afterwards and says it needs to restore from back up again. and just goes round and round doing that. Even if i try an earlier back up. I also tried wiping everything back to factory settings and restoring from back up and that did the same as above. Please help!!

Something in your backup may be corrupt. Try wiping it and setting it up as a new device, then sync your apps, data and media back to it from iTunes. DO NOT resotre from your backup. If the problem is contained in the backup, it will bring it right back again if you restore.
