5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

  • HT4623 IOS 6 update error

Hey , im trying to update my iphone 4s to IOS 6 but every time i download the update it won't complete and it says " ios 6 update failed" . Please help me as fast as you could

So after all the useless guidance here is where I have made it today:
I ran the diagnostic tool and corrected the indicators till all were green, except for the last one that said I was not connecting to itunes store securely. Then I performed a fix as detailed  below:
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123?viewlocale=en_US
After this now my connection works great but it went through all the trouble of trying to restore the unit only to end with "there is a problem with your device" pay us the out of warranty fee and we will fix it or replace it.
I am frustrated. Pay us and we will fix it but we can't tell you whats wrong is not a deal I can live with. Tell me whats wrong then I can make a decsion on whats worth investing to fix it.

  • IOS 6 update, problems with connecting to MacBook

After installing the ios 6 update for my iphone 4 i tried syncing my phone with my macbook. I learned that i needed the newest itunes (10.7) to do so. I tried downloading the new itunes but learn that i need the new Mountain lion software for my macbook as well to do so, not that big of a deal for me but i'm not sure if I can even install Mountain Lion on my macbook because of its age (bought in early 2008). I am currently running OSX 10.5.8.
    So really two questions...
Can I even install Mountain Lion on my macbook?
If I can't install the new macbook software can i revert my iphone 4 back to its original software, or another version, so it will still work with my current version of itunes (10.5)? I could stand loosing the updates i got with the IOS 6 software if it meant being able to connect my phone to my computer again.

If you hold down the option key and, under the Apple menu, select "System Information"->"Network">"Wi-Fi" do you see that an AirPort card is installed? If not, your card may be dead or it may have been jostled loose.
    Call back,

    Hey mfrouns,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like your iPhone is not recognized in iTunes when connected to your computer. To troubleshoot this issue, see the relevant article for your operating system:

  • IPod Touch iOS 4 Update Problem

    Hello,
Today I received a new iPod touch 8GB 2nd Generation from Apple, after my old one's audio jack failed. When I got home I decided to try and update to iOS 4 from 3.1.3. Download went fine, started to install. Everything went fine until my iPod got stuck with the Apple logo and the loading bar beneath. On my MacBook the loading bar is stuck on roughly 5%.
I was like sure, this has happened before to my 1st 8GB iTouch, we ended up getting that one replaced, then got the replaced one replaced again. So now I am on my second replacement, and it has failed me again.
I held down the home and lock button until it has reset. Original image comes up from when you first purchase the iPod, so yes I plug it into my laptop.
"iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes"
Ok sure, so I decided to follow the instructions. Extracts all the data fine, then yet again gets stuck on roughly 5%, with the same image shown on the iPod.
Any one have any idea? Or will I have to return it to Apple.
    Thanks.

I also initially had problems updating my iPod Touch 32GB 2G. I also got stuck with the Apple logo and the loading bar. iTunes gave me the message it could not connect with the iPod. I reset the device and tried again. This time I just had the Apple logo and no indication on iTunes that a device was connected. I disconnected the iPod and reset it again.
At this point I thought about the fact that my battery was low and that I was also using a USB hub. I then used an external charger to charge up the battery on the iPod. After that I connected it directly to a USB port on my computer and this time it updated the software with no problem. I don't know if charging the iPod and connecting it directly to the computer made the difference or not. Perhaps as they say, the third time is the charm. So you might just need to try a couple more times. Good luck.
I will also say that the upgrade seems to be a good one. After upgrading my iPod to OS4.0 I was getting several crashes a day and some apps just would not work. I haven't had a lot of time with OS4.1 but I haven't had any crashes since updating and programs that were not working are now working.

  • Ios 5 update problem

i was trying to update my iPod touch's iOS so i connected it to the computer and clicked 'update' and the download went smoothly up until the end of the download when iTunes was processing the file it showed an error (i don't remember what it was) but the download stopped after all that waiting (about an hour) the problem is that i pay fees over the megabytes that i download over my internet connection.
so is there a way to get the update file back witheout re-downloading it?
If not..what can i do to make sure this would not happen again if i re-download it (I use Windows 7)? That's really really frustrating
*NOTE: i think the error message was: "check your internet connection and try again later" or smothing like that...

If you received a nework timeout error disable your computer's security software during the download and update.  You will have to download the entire file again.

  • HT201210 iOS 7 update problem

After attempting to install ios 7 today on my 4S itunes comes up with a message saying:
There was an Error in the itunes store, try again later.
My macbook is updated completely as is itunes.  Is anyone having problems/success after attempting download?

    Thanks for stating the obvious.
With all the trouble people are apparently having with this upgrade, this is unacceptable.  Of course, if my phone worked, it would be nice and easy to just say "wait until tomorrow".
Not everyone has the luxury of just waiting for their phone to work until Apple finally figures out what went wrong with their software.

  • IPod touch 5th generation iOS 8 update problem

I have an iPod touch 5th generation with 32GB. This morning I started the ios8 update. Everything was going fine for a while, but now it's like it's stuck. The bar indicating how close it is to being done is almost full, but it's been like that for hours. I can't turn it off or do anything else.
Even if it's because I don't have enough memory, shouldn't I be able to cancel it or something? I didn't have this problem with the last update so I have no idea what is going on or how to fix it.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT4623 IOS 7.1 PROBLEM

after I updated the ios to 7.1, suddenly the system shutted down on my mobile, then I tried to switch it on but I just got a black screen and a flashing apple logo, actually its not a real flashing because its stay for couple of seconds then flash, and there is no possibility to shut down the phone again, now its like my iphone stucked on this screen, maybe till the battery switch empty ,,,,,,,,, please any ideas for solving this problem at home

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If that doesn't correct the problem try realtor ing the software on your phone.

  • HT4623 iOS 7 update is stuck - using iTunes to update

    Hi Folks,
Backed up my iPad, went into iTunes for the update.  Looked like it went through all the steps and then my iPad just shows the iTunes/USB graphic and iTunes on my PC doesn't show my iPad under the devices.
I did a hard reboot (power + home) and it hasn't changed.  Reboot my PC as well.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I'm sure they are being bombarded!  I was going to wait, but... well, I got impatient!
I would think that eventually I would either see the device in iTunes or the USB/iTunes graphic will change on the iPad, correct?  I have no problem restoring if I have to do that, but right now, I have no way to do that as iTunes is not recognizing the device at all.

  • HT4623 IOS 7 download problem

I downloaded the update to my iPad.  It downloaded successfully, I got to the "Hello" page, touched continue and all I got was the Apple logo.  I can not power off and I am frozen.  Any suggestions?
    Ed172

    Hello, Ed172.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would first try a reset of the device.  To reset a device,  press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.  You may need to attempt this multiple times.

If the issue persists, you may need to attempt a restore on the device via forced recovery.

  • HT4623 iOS 6 update and now my iPhone 4 doesn't work, any suggestions?

I updated my iphone 4 to the new ios 6 and now it doesn't work. It keeps shutting off when I use the apps and try to make calls; when it does shut off I can't get it to turn on again as well. I have tried to hold the home button and the lock button simultaneously but that doesn't do anything. I have tried 3 times to restore it but I keep having the same issue. The power percentage does not increase either. I charged it all day yesterday and last night and it still reads 54%. It only stays on when it is plugged into the wall outlet, not to my computer as well. Can anyone help?

Try going to Settings>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
