My Ipad 1 I would like to use as a photo book to show folks albums. I cannot load photos back to the Ipad. Photo stream doesn't seem to work when I share from another device

But it's crazy that older ipads are not privileged for the latest OS. It's one thing for h\w tech to not keep up with the latest app's load, but just for the heck of it, keeping at bay the older ipads with new OS is outright greed on part of Apple.
Unless, there is some hardware deficiency of older ipads that they can't handle ios 7.
Thank myself for at least buying an Android phone, instead of getting caught in this overpriced Apple products hype.

I am trying to copy photos from a recent vacation to my iPad2. The process was straightforward using iTunes until recently. Now I am getting a message warning me that if I sync photos from the folder on my PC to iTunes and my iPad, photos already on the iPad (except ones taken by the iPad) will be removed. I am running iOS 8.0.2 and the most recent iTunes update. I do not want to remove all the other photos from my iPad, so I cancel the sync. I have tried copying the photos using the Apple SD card connector, but it does not recognize my SD card (it does recognize an SDHC card, but I am unable to copy the photos to that card). Is anyone else gettinga message like what I describe above when trying to sync photos to an iPad2 in iTunes?
It is really a very simple fix. Place ALL of the photos that you want to sync to the iPad into one photos folder and sync that folder to the iPad. In your case, place the next set of photos that you want to sync, into the folder with the first set of photos that you already synced to the iPad. You can only sync from one main photos folder and if you choose another folder that does not include the photos that you previously synced, those photos will be erased from the iPad - as you have now discovered.
You can sync one level of sub folders with the main photos folder. You can have as many sub folders as you want (as long as you have the storage space available on the iPad) but you can only sync from one main photos folder. After you place all of the photos into the one main folder, when you go to the Sync Photos From drop down menu in iTunes, select that main photos folder and all of the sub folders that you placed in there will appear and you can select each sub folder to sync as well. -
Will photos with tags added in Windows Vista transfer to the iPad with tags intact?
This is my first post and I have yet to buy the iPad so the question is quite general.
My wife has spent many hours on the Windows Vista laptop sorting out photos and adding tags to them. We both think that an iPad would be a good thing for her to use.
Will these tags transfer to the iPad with the photos?
If they will transfer then will she be able to search through the thousands using the tags?
Will she be able to add tags using the iPad and will they transfer back to Windows with the photos?

NickWell I am reading the progress on your situation, trying to pick up some info. While I do not use the Elements starter edition, it has pretty much the same issues with transfereing catalogs from one machine to another and/or migrating from XP to Vista, as the other versions of Elements have.
I have been going through the gyrations of moving V4 on an XP machine to V6 on a Vista machine.
As suggested in other forums, I finally went to a two step process. First I added V6 to the XP machine that has the properly operating V4 on it. I did the conversion process to migrate the catalog to the V6 program. Yeah it does convert, but half the photos ( thousands) are disconnected. Reconnecting one and then doing a reconnect all does not work as suggested by others. Reconnecting all manually just aint going to happen.
I have tried the external hard drive thing and moved the catalog to the Vista machine but the results are the same.
While I am not an expert software person, I do have enough experience to know where the problem lies. It lies directly with Adobe and they have dropped the ball and put a seriously defective product on the market and so far have not fessed up the their responsibility. -
IPad Photo Transfer Very Slow....???
I'm using my IPad as a spare hard drive / memory chip to store all my vacation videos and photos then transfer them all to my PC in one go when I get home - the only (well, the main) problem is that the transfer rate is extremely slow. Is this normal ?
I'm using a macbook pro with USB2 and a fat iPad cable, and transferring in Win7. (Tried image capture in osx, it said "there was a problem" and simply stopped the import part-way through)
My other problem is that all the photos & videos are stored on the ipad in many different directories. If I search for *.jpg or *.mp4 to group-copy all the files, it won't let me copy them.....I have to copy the contents of each directory individually....
There must be a more straightforward / quicker way than this ?I am not sure where movies shot with camera or video camera go. I am assuming they would all go into the Photos app on the iPad.
Have you tried just syncing your iPad the normal way in OS X?
Normally, if you have photos in the Photos app on iPad, iPhoto in OS X is supposed to open and it will ask you to import the photos to iPhoto from the iPad. I believe the same is true of the video. If video is stored in the Photos App on the iPad, it should sync and copy to the iPhoto app on Mac OS X.
Once imported, you can always access the original by going to your iPhoto library and either copy the data to a new location for editing (if using different photo editor) or for video, copy those to a new location for video editing, say, in iMovie, or some other video editor.
And I agree with the previous poster, leave the images stored on the cards that it writes to so you will always have an additional backup source of photos or videos in case something goes awry when you try to use your iPad.
The iPad is not really meant to be a portable, mass storage HD just to store tons of content for dumping to a computer later.
It's more a light applications/multimedia, ereading type of device. There are new portable HD's and WiFi portable HDs that you can have connected to an iPad for mass storage use.
Look at ones by Hyper Drive, Seagate or Western Digital.
Anyhoo... Try a normal iPad sync to see if it transfers normally instead of using Image Capture.
See if this works.
And yes, the transfer rate maybe slow, especially if you shot a lot of video and depending on the resolution you shot your photos in.

Once pictures are moved from your camera to your iPad (using the camera connection kit), how do you get the photos off of the iPad? They do not show up in my photo stream or my iCloud. I am able to see any photo I took on the iPad using the iPad camera (in iTunes, photo stream, or when I open windows explorer and browse the iPad director), however I cannot see any photos transfered from my camera to the iPad. The camera connection kit must have put my photos in a directory I cannot get to and cannot sync.

How to delete photos gone to the iPad via with PC?
I can delete photos Shot with the iPad but not otheter photos (synchronized). If I tap the synchronized Photo there is no button to delete, only for copy and send.

I have a Macbook, an iPad 2, and an iPhone 4. I also have iCloud on all three devices. For some reason I can not get new information from my contacts folder to transfer to the iPad or the iPhone. Never been a problem before.

Imap: google, hotmail, and more including icloud.
If you want to use multiple devices - move to imap, I would even say "exchange", but Google does not support free exchange anymore, since January of that year. So Ironically Icloud or Hotmail would be my choices right now.

Don't the photos automatically download to your computer? I thought that is how it worked. I don't use photo stream since the iPad is not my ideal way to take photos so I have no experience with photo stream, but I thought that was the idea behind it - download to all devices ....

I also looked into editing the photo in iPad ,and I agree with the previous reader the t it luck the pixel level control. The only thing it good for is just a quick color correction and some sort of easy editing. My other concern is that, even if iPad is terrific tool to see a photos , there is no way to categorize, rate or sort them without using the big brother MAC! why? I can't get it why can't I star's rate the photo?

I have recently begun to use Pages and want to transfer a document between the iPad and my PC. I can transfer to the iPad, but not the other way, and am told I do not have sufficient 'privileges'. What does this mean? Also I can't use iCloud with Pages between the iPad and PC, although I purchased extra storage in order to do this.
If you have a PC, you don't have Pages on it. You can transfer Pages presentations to/from iCloud via http://www.icloud.com , however -- you just won't have an app on your PC to deal with Pages documents. Make sure that you have your iCloud account properly configured on your iPad.

When I change the configuration of my iPad apps (I organise them on the laptop, then sync) the arrangement does not transfer to the iPad.
Sounds like your iPhones software may be corrupt. Try placing the iPhone into recovery mode. To do this, follow the steps in this article:

How useful is it for reading books, newspaper or magazines or for surfing the web?
Can you identify any shortcomings of the device?
please help meit's less powerful than your average computer. THink of it like a netbook but with a better processor.
It'll do fine for surfing (although if you browse a lot of flash based sites you will need to get a third party browser since safari doesn't accommodate it)
You may do OK on reading books, papers or magazines, especially if they have apps, but the ipad's screen is backlit, so it doesn't work well outdoors and you may need to fiddle with the brightness so that you don't get eye strain (it's just like doing too much reading from a computer screen)
I would say the biggest short comings are data transfer. Apple's preferred work flow is that everything is done via iTunes or the internet....well people dont' always have 100% reliable always on internet access so you can find yourself in a situation where you can't get things on/off the iPad.
By and large, it's a good device for day to day stuff, but is not a computer replacement. -
The wifi has been lost or disconnected on my iPad. It's the iPad 2 and has not been updated yet. It's IOS 6.1.3 .. how do I add a network back onto it? I have typed in the name and chosen each of the securities and still hasn't connected!

It sounds like you are unable to join your network and cannot see it in the Wi-Fi list in Settings. I would try the troubleshooting outlined in this article named:

This problem developed in mid December. the synching worked perfectly on my 18 month old iPad 2 until then. Now the iPad will not sink my calendar, contacts and notes from my desktop Outlook program. It does seem to sync my pictures. the wireless keyboard had no problem recognizing the iPad until mid-December. I tried to reset the iPad by pressing the on off and home button concurrently. The iPad logo appeared but the iPad did not reset. Instead, my full configuration on the iPad along with all of my apps simply reappeared. I am at a loss as to what happened and what to do about it.
Your post indicates iOS 4.3 which is now quite old. I am going to suggest restoring your iPad, which, among other things, will update your iOS to the current version.
I recommend restoring your iPad. Make sure you have the current version of iTunes on your computer (currently 11.0.1). Plug your iPad into your computer, let it sync, then press "Restore" on the right side when the summary page of the iPad is displayed in iTuens' display. -

I was just wondering because I heard that the new iPad isn't worth it's price.The New iPad is not remarkably faster, but does have a faster chip, which is required to handle the amazing Retina display. The new display on New iPad is without question significatly better than iPad 2 and offers nearly 4 times the resolution of iPad 2. Whether it's important to you, only you can know. To see the difference, go to an Apple store where they still sell iPad 2 and New iPad. For me, the difference was night and day, which is why I sold my iPad 2 and upgraded to New iPad.
