My passcode requirement was turned off prior to updating to iOS 7.
It is now requiring my Passcode, but I cannot remember it! And computer  won't let me synch because "Find My iPad" app is turned on, which I obviously cannot turn off without getting into iPad Settings.
Do I really have to Reset the iPad?

Yes, you will need to restore your iPad.  This link will help restore from a lost passcode:

  • I've lost my iphone with passcode lock and find my iphone lock on but the wifi n cellular data was turned off so no way i can trace it so the only question remains is will the person who finds it be able to unlock it and use it as his own ?

i've lost my iphone with passcode lock and find my iphone lock on but the wifi n cellular data was turned off so no way i can trace it so the only question remains is will the person who finds it be able to unlock it and use it as his own ?
is it possible to change imei number?
i've tried for so many times n still the phone is offline so i've set it to offline mode with my message but it never shows the last location why?

If the device is found, nobody can use it without knowing your Apple ID and password.
The phone will only show it's location if it is connected to cellular network or Wi-Fi. If those options are switched off, you can't locate the phone.
With iOS 7, Find My iPhone includes a new feature called Activation Lock, which is designed to prevent anyone else from using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch if you ever lose it. It starts working the moment you turn on Find My iPhone in iOS 7. With Activation Lock, your Apple ID and password will be required before anyone can:
Turn off Find My iPhone on your device
    Erase your device
    Reactivate and use your device
This can help you keep your device secure, even if it is in the wrong hands, and can improve your chances of recovering it. Even if you erase your device remotely, Activation Lock can continue to deter anyone from reactivating your device without your permission. All you need to do is keep Find My iPhone turned on, andremember your Apple ID and password.
What steps should I take if I misplace my device?
If you ever misplace your device—whether it’s just lost or you think it may have been stolen—you should put it into Lost Mode immediately using Find My iPhone.
Lost Mode locks your screen with a four-digit passcode and lets you display a custom message with your phone number to help you get it back. You can also remotely erase your device if needed, and your custom message will continue to display even after the device is erased.
While Activation Lock works in the background to make it more difficult for someone to use or sell your missing device, Lost Mode clearly indicates to anyone who finds your device that it still belongs to you and can’t be reactivated without your password.
To put a device into Lost Mode, sign in to icloud.com/find from a Mac or PC or use the Find My iPhone iOS app.
For more information, read what to do if your device is lost or stolen.

  • I forgot the passcode to turn off restrictions. I have restored my iPad back to the factory settings and then synced it with the latest backup. The restrictions are still on and it is asking for the passcode. Can someone tell me how to get that off.

I forgot the passcode to turn off restrictions. I have restored my iPad back to the factory settings and then synced it with the latest backup. The restrictions are still on and it is asking for the passcode. Can someone tell me how to get that off.

The only option is to wipe the device clean and restore it to factory settings.  Hope you have a backup.
Follow the instructions in  iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 to restore the device to factory settings.
Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.
     Cheers, Tom

  • I have an ipad mini that won't power on. It was turned off to charge overnight. In the morning it was warm and now won't turn on no matter what I do. I've tried resetting using the power / home button combination and nothing works.

If you have owned the device, as in purchased from Apple, less than a year then there will be no charge to repair, or most likely, replace the device. If you have had the device more than a year you will be charged an out of warranty cost for replacement ($219 I think) and that is much cheaper than a new device. If you have Applecare+ then you have an additional year of coverage and the replacement will be $49 or $79 depending on when you got the Applecare.

  • HT4623 What do I do if the itouch was turned off while it was updating? I cannot get it to turn back on or talk to the computer.

What do I do if my ipod touch was turned off while it was updating to the new IOS? I cannot get it to turn back on or talk to the computer. It either shows the start apple screen or a blank white screen.

  • HT201317 How do I move photos that were taken when photo stream was turned off into the photo stream on my iPad2?

How do I move photos that were taken when photo stream was turned off into the photo stream on my iPad2?

You will need to do that by syncing them with a computer and then syncing the computer with the iPad.

  • MY IPAD2 WAS TURNED OFF BATTRY 50% AND CANNOT START AGAIN ?

my ipad2 was turned off, the battry was 50% and cannot start again even if I put se AC link the screen still black
    do you know this problem?

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Iphone was stolen. and find my iphone was turned off. How can I erase all data

Last night my iPhone was stolen. And find my iphone was turned off. How can i erase all data on my phone remotely?

You can't do anything if Find My Phone was not enabled.
What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
    iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if it is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi or cellular. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • Security passcode to turn off iphone

Hi, I just submitted an enhancement request to Apple and thought I might share it to see what others think.  When an iPhone is stolen the first thing a thief will do is turn it off so that it can't be tracked via Find My Phone.  A solution to that would be to require a passcode to turn off your device.  That way the thief would have no choice but to risk carrying the on and gps-tracked phone around until he/she is able to get it to the Thief Hideout (where they somehow reset the phone), being tracked all the way.
What do you guys think?  Maybe if more people submit the same request, Apple might be more compelled to implement it in their next update.  I don't know anything about programming, but it sounds like a pretty easy addition.

Yesterday my wife lost her iPhone 5S on 21st st. in Manhattan. It was in a small bag she was carrying.  She definitely dropped it, it wasn't stolen by a trained thief. She immediately called me hysterically from her work cell phone to track it. Unfortunately it was turned off by the person who "found it" and wasn't showing up on "Find My iPhone".  This was a low level thief who I believe had no intention of returning it because he never would have turned it off to begin with.  I Immediately called Apple and they told me to put the phone in "Lost Mode", which supposedly renders the phone useless to most potential thieves.  About an hour later, on "Find My iPhone", it showed up in the Bronx and I got a phone call from him about 2 hours later wanting to return the phone. I believe had there not been a passcode on the phone and "Lost Mode" wasn't turned on, I would never have seen that phone again!!!! He saw the phone was frozen and realized he better cash in a tip from the owner or was scared of being tracked!!!  So I do think there should be an option for users, included in the software, that allows you to require a passcode to turn off the iPhone.  I believe there are a lot of low level thieves that would be deterred by this.
My wife still tipped the guy, since she DID get the phone back and I have no real proof that he would have stolen it!!!

  • HT4910 My iCloud account was turned off can I find out what time this happened

My daughters I pad was hacked. The I cloud was turned off so the tracking system would not work. Is there a way to find out what time of day this happened.
I can at least let her teacher know what class this happened in. We were just lucky we caught it before it was stolen. Does anyone have any good ways to track iPad for parents. My daughter has Down's syndrome and really needs her iPad to help her with her class work.

Look at the serial number on the back of the nano and input this into https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do. This should tell you what type of iPod you have.

  • Turn on 15in1 card reader It was turned off while trouble shooting another problem

While trying to fix another problem the 15in1 reader was turned off Other problem was fixed  the reader was not turned back on     help
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I have not seen a unit with an on/off option for the card reader, but I have not seen every unit ever made.
    What is the product number?
Do you know where it was disabled?  By chance, was it disabled in device manager?
The card reader should be listed under disk drives based on the following image.  You might try uninstalling/reinstalling the card reader(s) from device manager as outlined half way down in this document.  The document is for Vista, but the steps are similar for Windows 7.
In device manager, a disabled device will have a down arrow icon on it.  If it does indicate it is disabled, right-clicking it and selecting enable should enable it.

  • How to Find When A Document Library's Versioning Was Turned Off

We have a document library that used to have versioning on. It's since been turned off. How do we figure out when versioning was turned off and who did it?

whenever you upload a document in a document library, it published automatically if versioning is not enabled. Also you can check versioning details of the document which always say No version found.
You can verify version from library settings, and also can enable or disable versioning from the document library.
    Document Library-->settings-->General settings--> Versioning Settings.

It was an expensive gift and we can't find it now! Please help! How do i turn it on without finding it because she can't remember where it was.

That is so dumb...Apple is the best and most techinological company IN THE WORLD and they don't have the time to invent something like that? HUH? All they are worried about is making the "Worlds best Phone" and they can't take the time out to help their users or anybody that has their products. All they have is "Find mt Iphone" Well they should step up and do something else to help people like me out. Find a way to turn it on and you can find it or find a way to turn it on remotely.

  • How can i see text messages people sent from when my phone was turned off?

i was abroad for the past 3 months, and my phone was turned off (NOT deactivated). when i got back i received one text from 5 minutes before i had turned the phone on. I know for a fact that i should have received numerous texts/picture messages, etc. Is it too late to receive these in some way? There are also voicemails but i can accept that these are gone forever. Are pending texts/ whatever deleted after a certain amount of time?

If the text message is not able to be delivered for 5 days, it is deleted - so only the most recent days would be coming when when you turned the phone back on. New voicemails would be saved until the mailbox is full, I would think.
