I'd say your sister messed up and your iPod is toasted.
Think about it...  She plugged it in to another computer, she doesn't remember what she did (yeah, right), and now your iPod is not being recognized by your computer...
Also take into consideration how old is your sister, and how much does she know about electronics?

  • My iphone 5 says its charging but it isn't. I have a Apple charger. The problem is sporadic. One day fine next day won't charge

My iphone 5 says its charging but it isn't. I have a Apple charger. The problem is sporadic.

    Hi gotwaxed,
If your iPhone is not charging while plugged into the wall adapter, then I'd like you to please follow the information outlined below to help resolve the issue.
    If the battery doesn’t charge
If the battery doesn’t charge, unplug your device and try these steps:
Look at the connector at the bottom of your device and make sure it’s free of debris.
If you're using a USB power adapter, make sure it's plugged in all the way and the power outlet is working. If you're connecting to a computer, make sure it's on and can charge your device. To charge an iPad, you might need to use a USB power adapter and plug into a power outlet.
Try a different USB cable, USB power adapter, or USB port.
If everything seems to be working, reconnect your device and wait for 30 minutes.
If your device still doesn’t charge, try to restart it while it's connected to power. If you can't restart, reset your device.
    Get more help
If your device still doesn't charge or you still see an alert after trying the steps above, contact Apple Support.

    Have a good one,

My iphone does not have a software update tab. How do I update my phone without it?

You don't have a software update on your phone because you need IOS 5.0 or higher to OTA.
You will have to update using itunes.

  • HT4623 My iPad does not have a "software update" category.how do I update it?

My iPad does not have a "software update" category in the General section. How do I update it?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you are updating using wifi, locate your iPad close to your router so you don't get a wifi dropout (can cause update corruption).

  • HT4623 My iPad does not have a "software update" tab

My iPad does not have a software update tab in general. How do I update?

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, with iOS 4 you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

Your iPad should be updated to iOS 6.0.1 (which is the only version that is 'signed' by Apple), so you will lose the built-in YouTube app and the Maps app will change - but google have app versions in the store

  • I have a firewire scanner but my new computer does  not have a firewire port

I have a Nikon Coolscan firewire scanner, but my new computer does not have a firewire port. Are there any suggestions on how I can continue to use my scanner? Is there some form of Firewire to USB interface?
    Thanks for any ideas.
    John

I would think Gene's adapter will work fine, but if you are stuck, it might be useful to find larger number of Nikon users to ask.  The DPReview forums come to mind, except they are split into sections.  If you are on flickr, there is bound to be a general Nikon group.  The Canon group on flickr gets a ton of traffic and has a trillion members.  Then there are places like Fred Miranda and Luminous Landscape, that is mostly populated by grown ups with lots of knowledge.  On second thoughts, forget about Luminous Landscape, unless that was a typo in your first post, and you actually have a Hasselblad or PhaseOne scanner

  • HT4623 My iPad (version 4.2.1) does not have a "software update" line

I have never been able to update my ipad software. Unlike the apple app note my ipad does NOT have a line under Settings/General called "Software Update".
In the past I have attempted to access a newer version by connecting to my PC but this wiped all my expensively purchased movies from my iPad. i will not try this again as a result. Surely I can just download directly like with my iPhone? I have a good WiFi connection. Help!

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 as your tagline suggests then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (that should copy all your iTunes purchased films, music, apps etc). You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. A first gen iPad should update to iOS 5.1.1 (it doesn't support iOS 6).
An iPad 2 and 3 should update to iOS 6.0.1, so you will lose the built-in YouTube app and the Maps app will change.

  • My iPhone 6 does not have a "recently deleted" album in the camera roll? why not?

my phone does not have a "recently deleted" album. I have photos on my phone and I can see them if I click on "photos" app and hit "photos" in the bottom left. But when I go to "albums" I the bottom right it says I have no photos and no "recently deleted" album either.
can anyone explain why I wouldn't have these?
    Thanks!

The reason you don't have "Recently Deleted" is you are using iCloud Photo Library (Beta).
Go to Settings > Photos & Camera and turn off "ICloud Photo Library (Beta)".
