HT4623 iPod touch update.... Now white screen?

I updated my sons iPod touch (4th Gen) a couple of days ago as per its request. It then asked me to plug into iTunes.
When I plugged in, it said it needed to be restored from factory / back up.
I tried this but iTunes kept coming up as needed to restore.
After 32 minutes of the update attempting through iTunes, the iPod went back to the apple screen followed by a plain white screen, back to the apple screen. This is a constant between the 2 screens. You cannot switch off or do anything.
Help please.... My 7 year old son is heart broken
Thank you

If that not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the reset, restore/recovery mode and DFU mode again..
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod touch has a white screen and it wont turn of

I was playing a gamem and all of a sudden the screen turned white! it wont even turn of. I tryed to put it into Dfu mode and held the top button to it didnt work. so right now i left the ipod on with the white screen and i hope it will run out of battery. So can u please reply to me as soon as posible. Thank you

Problem is I can't restore via iTunes, because when I plug the iPod touch into my laptop, it states it doesn't recognize the device - "USB device not recognized".  iTunes has no device listed for my iPod touch.
It was plugged in all day while I was at work, could that be the problem?
I tried to do it with the DVU method and it didn't work either.

  • My ipod touch has a white screen

my ipod touch has a blank screen. It won't do anything. How do I fix it?

Frequently a white screen is due to a hardware problem and service is necessary.  It appears that Apple confirmed the hadware issue.
Apple will exchange it for this price:
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
A third-party place like this one may be less expenisve.

  • Ipod touch stuck on white screen

I have an ipod touch the new kind. I went to update my ipod in general then settings because it said i should update it for some reason and now ever since then my ipod randomly stopped working. When i hold the top button and the centre button it shows the apple but once the apple goes away it shows the screen go kind of fuzzy, changing colours then goes to white. When i don't hold the top button or the centre button my ipod just stays on the white screen. It also won't connect to my computer. It says it's charging but it won't show up on itunes or anything at all. I would LOVE some advice or help on this. Please!

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
    Restart... Reset... Restore...
    Restart / Reset

Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the iPod Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the iPod On...

  • Ipod Touch 1g Has White Screen & Error 1600

    Where do I start?
My Ipod Touch 1st gen got the white screen of death...I have tried the hard boot along with restoring through iTunes. No fix.
The ipod still works! I can still play music on it, I just cannot see anything but white.
I tried to downgrade the firmware to fix the issue (I have searched 2 weeks and this is what people say to fix it?). I think I have 3.1.3 right now. I tried to downgrade to 1.1.4 (I have all the firmwares downloaded up to my current...). I kept getting an Error Code 20. I downloaded TinyUmbrella, and it fixed the code 20. Now, I keep getting Error Code 1600?! I have searched Apple Support and 1600 is not on their list...
    What do I do?

I got the same problem except i tried power and home hold didn't work tried restoring it with itunes nothing. Please get back to me on this issue its a 16gb 1st gen Ipod Touch.

  • IPod touch crashed with white screen after using Griffin TuneJuice

    Hello all,
I have an iPod touch first generation that has worked flawlessly for about 1,5 years. Recently I bought a Griffin TuneJuice (external battery) to get longer battery life. The salesperson said it should work with the Touch, and it did at first. But later on it did not charge the iPod anymore. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, restarting the iPod and so on.
Suddenly the screen of the iPod went completely white after a reboot. I can not get it to show anything anymore. I have tried resetting (holding power+home for 10 secs), reformatting and restoring, upgrading the firmware to 2.2 but none seems to work.
Googling for the problem it seems everyone who encountered this got it repaired under warranty, which is obviously not a solution for me since it's too old. So what I need to know is from a technical point of view what goes wrong when the screen is blank. The iPod seems to work otherwise (for example, it syncs perfectly with the computer and the "clicks" are playing).
I guess that something must be wrong with the firmware at a lower level than iTunes can repair. Is it possible to repair the firmware by using some lowlevel tool?
Or could this be a hardware problem (the guy in the store suggested the docking connector might have broken or short-circuited). In that case, is there any good guide on how to open and repair an iPod?
From searching different forums it seems the problem is quite common, and I hope that someone smart enough has got the problem and managed to solve it.
    Thankful for any help.

hold the power bottom and the home bottom then it will shut off after that just turn it back on ,then it should work, it may take longer than 10 seconds, you gotta be patient.. because i had the white screen and did this, hope it helps.

  • What does it mean when I turn on my iPod Touch and a white screen shows up?  Nothing else comes up.

Everytime I try to turn it on, a white screen comes up and nothing else.  I just used by iPod Touch last week and everything was normal.

No, you don't have a virus, but if that folder has a flashing '?', it means your Mac can't find its' system:

  • 4th Gen ipod touch has a white screen

4th Generation ipod has a white screen.  I have done the hard restart with no success.  Have attached it to the computer for a restore--it goes through the whole process and the white screen stays.  Even with the white screen, you can hear that you slide the bar to start and apps are available, but the white screen won't go away.  It is only 2 days old!!!  HELP!

Try #2 and #3 in link below. If neither work, you most likely have a hardware issue.

  • IPod touch 4th generation white screen

What to do or how to fix a white screen on a 4th gen iPod touch 8 gig?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
