HT4623 lost data iPad ios update

Bonjour,
J'ai mis à jour l'IOS de mon IPAD de 3 à 5 et j'ai perdu toutes les données.
J'avais une sauvegarde, mais mon ipad ne la reconnait plus.
Merci de vos conseils.

If you no longer have that backup, then you can't restore from it.
Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. if you see a recent backup in that window you can restore from it. If you have a backup, clock on Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically. Click OK.
Connect your iPad to your computer and it should appear in the left sidebar. If you don't see the sidebar go to View>Show Sidebar from the menu at the top. Right click on the iPad name under Device and select  - Restore from Backup.

  • IPad iOS update problem

When I try to update my iPad iOS to v4.2 I get a message saying,
"iTunes could not back up the iPad because the backup could not be saved on the computer"

What has worked for some others has been to delete the existing backup file. You can delete it from iTunes>Preferences>Device Tab. However, as insurance, I would make a copy of the file before deleting it. You can find the location of the backup file here:

  • Original IPad iOS update

Does anyone know if/when they are planning an iOS update beyond 5.1.1 for original iPad. I have both iPad and iPad air, would like to continue to use both, but AppStore is severely limited for under 6.0

    Hi,
Put simply, the original iPad (and all non-updated iOS devices) probably don't have the power to use the new operating system (e.g. iOS 7). They probably won't be planning it, as it has been over a year, but I hate to say the rules state you cannot speculate on Apple policies or decisions.
    Hope this helps!

  • HT4623 After my last iOS update my iphone 4 no longer syncs with my macbook.  How do I fix that?

After my last iOS update my iphone 4 no longer syncs with my macbook.  How do I fix that?

Is the device recognized in iTunes? What happens when you try to sync? What have you done to try and correct it? Before anyone can recommend anything, they need to know a little more information.

  • Iphone 3G Recover Lost Data After iOS 4 Update

I am able to manage my iphone to go back previous backup and restore all calendar - contacts - Lockbox Pro Passwords etc...(data stored for all applications)
First I would like to mention that you should have Windows 7 or maybe you can use Windows XP restore function.
    For Win 7:
    C:\Users\"Your User Name Folder"\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync
    Find the file Named Backup
Then right click the folder and go to properties and form the upper tabs choose "Previous Versions" (Copy the original Backup folder to your desktop for maybe future need.)
Then from the bottom choose "Restore"
Please note that Itunes should be closed that time and you must have a back up for some time ago.
After that you can use the usual Restore function of Iphone from Itunes.
When restoring choose the correct backup file by checking from the date of its creation.
When it is complete you will have all your previous data in your iphone.
    Hope This Helps...

I was able to fix the issue. I had to manually put the phone in restore mode by holding the power button and the home button until the power turned off while the phone was still plugged into the computer, then when the phone turned off continue holding the home button until you hear the computer recognize the device. Then navigate to the back up folder that is described earlier and cut out all of the back up folders and paste them on your desktop. Then iTunes said that a device was recognized in restore mode or something like that and you click yes to restore. After this happen the iPhone will go through the processes of restoring the phone. When it finishes it will start like a brand new device and it will be updated to the OS4.0. You will then need to go through the tabs at the top of the iPhone sync window and re check all of the items that you want synced to your phone. The only data that was totally lost was my pictures, but after the iPhone finishes reloading, you may be able to go back to the desktop and cut the backup folders and paste them back into the backup folder and restore your phone from a previous back up and you may still be able to recover those photos. This worked for me so I hope it works for all of you as well. Thanks!

  • HT5262 IPad IOS Updates?

I have an IPad and IPhone 4S.  My IPad has IOS5.1.1 on it.  My Iphone has IOS6.1 on it.  I can't figure out how to upgrade my IOS for my IPAD even though my IPAD says that I have the latest IOS on it.  Some of my apps on the IPad won't update because my IOS hasn't been upgraded.  Anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

Is sound like you have a first generation iPad, in which case it is up to date. The original iPad doesn't support iOS 6.

  • Lost notes after ios update

Last night I updated my phone to iOS 7.0.4, this morning all my notes are gone from the last month and a half HELP!! I've had this problem before, but it seemed to go away a couple months ago with the last update. I'M ABOUT READY TO GET RID OF APPLE OVER THESE STUPID NOTES PROBLEMS!!!! It's such a simple app you'd think they could make it work right without constantly losing my data.

If you restore from your last backup those notes should be recoverable, assuming they were part of that backup.

  • Ipad ios update is hanging

I am updating an ipad mini to ios8.1.3 via wifi. The install is locked at about 90%.  What can I do at this point?

You can try to restart the iPad and see if that helps it continue or start over.  If not, hook it up to a computer with iTunes to update.

How do you get pictures, notes contacts and mail back, lost after update on IPhone5

Restore the backup that you made when you last synced your phone to iTunes on your computer. Alternatively, if you enabled iCloud backup on the phone, you can restore from the latest iCloud backup by going to Settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings.

  • HT4623 lost contacts after os6 update

updated phone to os6, lost all contacts..

This happened to me. It's because the sync Contacts box becomes unchecked in the sync settings in iTunes. Open iTunes, find your phone in the left-hand column, click on Info (top), check the Sync Contacts box, then scroll down and click 'Apply' or 'Sync' bottom left. Your contacts will be restored from your computer to your iPhone.

  • One potential option for Windows 7 users who have lost data with iOS 4.0

Windows 7 has a feature like Timemachine on the mac. It quietly keeps backups of all files and folders whenever they change, if you have System Restore switched on. I wonder if it can be used to retrieve old versions of the Mobilesync/Backup folder before the iOS4 update? One problem with itunes is is overwrites any old backups in the Mobilesync folder when doing the installation process.
This feature in Windows is explained here:
    http://lifehacker.com/5477132/use-windows-system-restore-to-recover-individual-f iles
This maybe worth trying for those running windows 7.
Whether this will work for folks depends on a lot of assumptions on my part:
    1. ioS4 is broadly ok so the error is not there,
    2. the install process for iOS4 is ok,
    3. the restore feature is working in itunes 9.2 to install valid backups of application and user data back after installing iOS4
    4. the root cause is the backups itunes 9.2 makes are easily corrupted in certain (unknown) scenarios. Hence the objective of looking for another uncorrupted backup on your PC.

I've tried this method with my ipod now, had to leave it running overnight but I'm pleased to report this restore method works.
The only dependencies are (1) you are running a machine with windows 7 (possibly Vista someone will need to check this) (2) You sync'd your ipod any time in the weeks running up to installing iOS4. Go for the most recent backup that the OS took as a shadow copy. Obviously the more recently you did the sync the better. In my case I am going back to March data it seems, though there seems to be another backup taken the day I installed the OS - just hope its not the dud one- I will try this one next to see if its got more data.
This gets around the issue that itunes overwrites old backups. It may do but Windows (and also Macs I believe using the timemachine functionality) keep old copies of the backup files
