HT4623 MY IOS UPDATE IS BEING EXTREMELY SLOW, DO YOU KNOW WHY ?

My IOS update has taken almost 2 hours and isn't even half way completed yet?
I can't figure out why, can anyone help, or tell me how to speed it up ?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

I'm having same problem with my iPhone 4. Even after restoring twice. Simple tasks casue the phone to lock up and restart, which, thanks to iOS 7 takes much longer than with iOS 6.
I love my phone, but it is almost unsuable after update.

It sounds like your MBP is having kernel panics. Log one and post it for inspection.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

Good thought, but that's not the issue. I have 6 email accounts, including 3 POP3, an IMAP, an iCloud, and Exchange. If I tap Mark on a message of any of them I have an option to Flag or Mark as Unread. Although I don't know what good Mark would do on a POP3, because it would not sync back to the server or other clients on my computers. It DOES for IMAP, iCloud and Exchange.
It might be that Hotmail specifically doesn't support it.

A Restore first downloads a new copy of iOS to your computer. On a slow Internet connection this can take a long time. How fast is your connection? How long would you expect it to take to download 900 MB?
That's assuming nothing is interfering with the download. Some firewalls and antivirus programs will block the download or slow it down. So you should temporarily disable your security software. Security software can also block the update after the iOS download is complete.

If it is taking too long for you over Wi-Fi, then syncing it by connecting to your computer might prove to be a faster option:
Update your device using iTunes
If you can’t update wirelessly, or if you want to update with iTunes, follow these steps:
If you use your device's Personal Hotspot for your computer's Internet connection, update your device wirelessly or connect your computer to another network.
Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer.
Plug in your device to your computer.
In iTunes, select your device.
In the Summary pane, click Check for Update.
Click Download and Update.

HT4623 An IOS update was started and now the screen is frozen with a zipper starting from the bottom an arrow above that and the iTunes symbol above that

I am using an IPad 4 and I was notified of an IOS update. When the update started the screen froze displaying a zipper from the bottom with an arrow above that and an itunes icon above that. IPad will not do anything.

You are in Recovery Mode. Follow step 1 to 6 closely to recover your iPad.

Retina display MBP has extremely slow wifi... why?

Here's the scenario for my wifi issues with my mbp retina display. I have a regular 20Mb/s down Time Warner connection that I've been using for 2 years. My roommates' computers as well as my older 2010 MBP never had slow connectivity issues. The things I'm experiencing on my MBP now are:
- extremely slow speeds where even Google.com fails to load at times, streaming videos buffer every 15 seconds, I can't play diablo 3 anymore because it keeps giving me a time-out message (lol), my instant messenger times out so I have to reconnect.
I tried to diagnose my issue but going to any speedtest shows that my connection has a download speed of 20Mb/s which makes sense and probably has nothing to do with the slow/dc issue.
As of now, the only temporary remedy is to disconnect my wifi and reconnect (every 10-15 minutes), and I'm pretty sure no one would be content with this fix.
Is there any other diagnosis tool that I can use here to see what's going on? Anyone else have this issue?
(I've updated my software to the latest updates).

I'm also having the same issue. The applecare folks acted like they've never heard about it (seriously?) and had me do some stupid things like deleting all the other networks out of the list but the one I was using (she actually tried to tell me that the computer would be "confused" by 5 computers in my known network list).
I just took it to the genius bar, and they ran diagnostics on it, and it's working just fine. In their store, using their network, I was getting 12 mbps. At my mom's house (who doesn't pay for the fastest speeds), I was getting 9 mbps. Here at my house, where every other computer (including my 2007 macbook) is getting 20 mbps, I am getting LESS THAN ONE.
My shiny new computer is completely unusable. It has nothing to do with bluetooth. It has something to do with an incompatibility with the new router my husband bought two days ago (Linksys E1200). Before that, I think it was okay. I am going to have him switch back to the old router and see if that solves anything.
But SERIOUSLY, Apple? I'm about to send it back, too. I am VERY disappointed. Oh, and when the wireless radio is going nuts, my battery life suffers tremendously. I am getting nowhere near 7 hours. More like 2. And that's with bluetooth turned off, and the screen dimmed.
Oh, and an addition, I am running Mountain Lion. My computer just arrived last Monday. I've already installed all system updates. I even had them re-install Mountain Lion at the Apple Store. I think my little Betsy is going to have to be replaced. :-(

Music is being censored. Don't know why.

Hello again Gurus-
I have a 32GB 3rd gen ipod touch that I got a few months ago. I love it, but I am having two problems with it.
First, and most annoying, is that it has censored all my music!! There are no parental controls active in my itunes nor are there any restrictions turned on on the touch. The same music is loaded on two different nanos, and is censored in neither. This is very annoying when I'm belting out my tunes on the road and I would do anything to fix it. Anyone know why my music is being censored without me asking my touch to do so?
The second problem isn't as big a deal.... I have two laptops that I have itunes and my music on. Both my nanos sync with both computers fine and I have never had a problem transferring music or videos from either computer to either nano. But, my touch will sync with both of my computers, but it won't let me transfer anything (music, TV, etc.) off one of them. I can't really figure out why, as my touch is recognized by both. Any thoughts?

Firstly about the first question. What do you mean by "censored"? Is the Touch telling you you not allowed to play the files or something? Can you elaborate on that a bit more so I can help you more?
Second. This issue may reside in that iTunes keeps a backup of the settings, calendars, contacts etc. This may be something to do with the Touch not being able to be used with two different machines. (not too sure though, will ook into that more.)

Keynote for iOS "Effects" menu is EXTREMELY slow?

I'm using Keynote for iOS, and I've been using it for a long time. I want to make a presentation and add transitions and builds. When I click on text and select Build In or Build Out, the Effects menu is incredibly slow. I can barely scroll through it, and when I tap on an effect, it takes 20 seconds for the preview window to show up. It was never like this before the last update. I force-quitted and everything, too. Do I have too much stuff stored in the app? Whatever I have to do, I don't want to lose all of my presentations, or have to open them up one-by-one in another app. Can anyone please help me soon?

well i have downloaded the update, and clicked on the 'update' button on the ipod main page.... but it is not updating, its taking forever to 'back up' my ipod! its also making my computer very slow ;(
any advice? or is just normally this sloww....

The backup took me a long time too. It went like 1/10 in 2 hours, but I left it for a few more hours and came back to find it had installed the new ios 4 and everything was fine. It took a total of about 4 hours. I would suggest just leave it be. Take a break and go do something else.
