I went to do software update on my Iphone 4s. When it restarted the phone the usb plug, arrow button pointing up and the Itunes app appeared on my screen. It seems my phone crapped out on me. i've just bought a new macbook pro retina. i am using a usb not assocciated with this mac. when i try to download movies onto the usb it keeps coming back saying its full when i know there is plenty of space left. what can i do to correct this problem? do i need to buy a new usb? thanks
empty your trash
then open disk utility and reformat it
as mac journaled if you only want to use it for a mac
if you want to use it for both mac and PCs, select the partition tab, choose 1, format exfat and MBR under options

I've seen all kinds of posts about issues syncing music from Itunes to iphone. But has anyone had issues with it the other way? I have 473 songs on my phone and my library only shows 110. I need to sync my phone for some ring tones but it says I will lose my music if I do. How do I make sure my music is safe?

The message you're getting indicates that your phone is NOT set up to sync with the library you're attempting to sync to. In order to fix that, the media on the phone must be erased and a new sync relationship established with the library you're trying to sync to. -

I recently update my iphone and now is not allowing me to access my contacts, emails etc. When I try to switch it on it has an itunes symbol on the front with the usb plug and an arrow. What do I do to get my contacts etc back and make phone calls?

So my ipod (not sure if its a 1st or 2nd g) but it has the usb and itunes symbols on the screen but when i plug it into the computer, it says, "unable to connect this ipod. type the passcode on the ipod on the ipod to connect" but i cant because of the symbols. what should i do?
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

It will not release from the port and the port is no longer working as a result of my efforts to retrieve the USB cord. I have been an iPhone owner since the first release in 2007. I have never had a problem with my Apple products and have remained an enthusiastic, loyal customer. It is my understanding that Apple only has "extra" USB cords in Apple store. I live in a rural area without access to an Apple Store. Retailers and Carriers did not receive shipments of extra charging cords. This is unacceptable. I am absolutely at a loss because my port in my brand new car is not longer functioning and will likely have to be replaced, AT MY EXPENSE. My "Lightning" cord is literally stuck in my vehicle. My phone is currently sitting at Radioshack being charged so that I have at least a charge when I head out of town on business early tomorrow morning. Suggestions please as I am a VERY unhappy customer!

Have you jailbroken this device? This will make the iPhone not talk to the Software Update Server (that signs and accepts software updates) please refer to the following link? Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

I was wondering why the iPhone 5 has the option for a battery percentage and the iPod touch 5g doesn't? I mean... they are almost both the same thing... just the iPod does not have the phone.
One likely reason is the % battery is not that accurate because of the smaller battery capacity in the iPod compared to iPhone and iPad. Users why use a % battery app post that the % reading changes a lot.

I was in the middle of the iOS 8 update and tried to turn my phone off (yes, I realize this was dumb) But what happened was it tried to reset. Now, my iphone 4s has the connect to itunes screen. I have tried to reset, recover, etc but I keep getting and error -51 message. Any ideas how I can get my phone working again? I am not worried about saving any info just having a phone to use!
Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds. Ignore the swipe to turn off message. -
I was synching my iphone 4 and unplugged it. It's now stuck on a screen that has the chord and the music note that says itunes under it. I have tried to reboot and have even cancelled my last synching process. My phone is froze. I need help.
You probably have to go through a restore of the phone.
Plug the phone in and launch iTunes, then select your phone from the left side of the menu.
There will be an option to restore the phone and click that button.
That will erase and restore the phone. After it's done, it will ask you to restore from a recent backup, and you can choose to go ahead and restore.
You should be back up and running from there, but may have to do some minor tweeks to get yourself back up exactly as you left off. Some things like your visual voicemail password and email passwords may have to be entered again, but you'll be in good shape.
