My iphone4 is frozen with the apple icon and progress bar at 5% cannot update
Same issues here.
iPhone 5 was fine until I restarted the device... now the screen flickers on and off (with the white Apple logo
and frozen progress bar overlayed on the screen).
When I try to restore, I get a "-1" error.
Well I just looked over at the screen, and everything is now fine. No flickering, no logo... the screen looks normal.

Follow the instructions in the article. When you connect your phone again, you may have to press both the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo reappears, then continue pressing the home button until iTunes detects the phone in recovery mode. -

Have you tried resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Next connect it to your computer and try to restore the iPod via iTunes on your computer. -

When my wife's Mac Book Pro was being updated to the latest version of OS X the laptop locked up at a grey screen with the Apple icon and status bar. My Macbook aliminium unibody from late 2008 will not boot. I reach the grey screen with the apple icon and the spinning grey gear. I used disk utility to boot it but it said integrity test failed. I don't know what to do can anyone please help?
Sounds like you may have a harddrive issue. You are probably going to need to get that changed out and then install the OS X again to get it going.

The typical fix if the progress bar totally freezes - meaning no movement at all for more than 20 minutes - and iTunes will no recognize the device - is to try to put the iPad into recovery mode. That is explained here.

However, don't jump the gun. Keep an eye on the progress bar and if it is moving at all - even very slowly - let it go for a while. I'm updating my iPod touch first and the progress bar is moving but very slowly. -

I connected my i-pad 3 to my i-mac computer to sync music. Once connected it said I had an update to ios6 for my i-pad. I did as instructed. at the end it said it could not install because of error 1603. Now the i-pad will not shut now. It just has a black screen with the apple icon on it. Help
