HT4623 My iPod touch says there are no available updates even though I'm running iOS 5.1

I connect my iPod to a power source and check for updates, but it says I'm already up to date, which I'm not. Any help?

Do you have a 3rd generation iPod touch (no camera)? iOS 5.1.1 is the latest version for that model.

  • When I go to update software, I get a box that says there is an update with a smaller box over it that says there are no available updates. It did not used to do this.

When I go to have my mac update software it is now having a box that says there is an update with a smaller box over it that says no up date available. You cannot get to the update to click on it to proceed. Why is it doing this and how can I get it to stop?

If you can't install on top of the current installation then you need to delete or rename the current Firefox program folder to do a clean install.
It is possible that your security software is using or locking files, so you can try to temporarily disable that software during the installation.

  • HT2311 iTunes will not install, it says I need version 10.6.8? But there are no available updates.

I just bought new I5. It won't connect to Itunes( The iPhone “iPhone” cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes.).
I try to download new Version of Itunes. It says that i need version Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later.
How can I update to a newer version when my computer tells me there are no available updates?? I am confused!!

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

If i have a shattered ipod touch 4th ggeneration and i trade it in at Apple Store for the ipod touch 5th generation Will they take it even though it is shattered? and will  i get my 10% recycling thing?

As far as recycling, they will take one, dead or alive, so I assume a shattered one would qualify just as well.

  • HT4623 my ipod touch says it is disabled, connect to itunes, what do i do ?

hi, my daughters ipod touch says it is disabled and needs connecting to itunes, what do i need to do, i havent got a clue......?

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

  • HT4623 my ipod touch says that it is updated. I am running 6.1.3 . Why wont it update to 7?

my ipod touch says that it is updated. I am running 6.1.3 . Why wont it update to 7?

Lots of things in the world stink. It stinks that my car isn't a hybrid so I'm stuck with lower gas mileage. It stinks that my TV doesn't support 4K movies. It stinks that my printer isn't color. It's what we just have to live with it if we're not willing to purchase new products.

  • HT1338 ok so i know that my computer needs to be updated but I do the software update and it say there are no current updates I have not updated my computer in a long time

ok so I have not updated my computer in a long time and I go to the apple icon in the upper left hand corner of my computer and click on it and then click on softwear updates and it runs and says there are no updates.

You have to buy the next OS X version. Free updates are only available for the version you have. Since you're posting here, assume you want to upgrade to at least OS X 10.6? Or further?
Call the Apple online store, which in the US is at 800-MY-APPLE, or you can also order online from them too. OS X 10.6 is only available on DVD, not download. Get it, install, do Software Updates until no more are available. Done. You probably already have at least 1GB of memory, and some spare disk space to install it. Of course, backup first.
If you want to upgrade to OS X 10.8, see these requirements to see if your system is able to. Note the minimum memory is 2GB, however, 4GB is recommended.  Assuming your system can run Mountain Lion, you can upgrade directly from OS X 10.6 to OS X 10.8. You don't need to upgrade to OS X 10.7 as an interim step. OS X 10.8 is downloadable from the App store.
If you want to upgrade to OS X 10.7, after you upgrade to OS X 10.6, call the online Apple store again to purchase a download code, then download from the App store.

  • I recently was given someone elses ipod touch.  There are some songs on there I want to keep and many I want to delete.  Is there a way to upload the songs to my mac  so I can add them to a play list I have and delete the one's I don't want?

I recently was given someone else's ipod touch.  It has some songs I would like to keep, but most I would like to delete without losing the one's I like.  Is there anyway to either upload songs to itunes in my mac or sync a playlist with the ipod without erasing all the music currently on the ipod.  Also, is there a way to delete specific tunes on the ipod?
    Thanks.

There is no legal way to do this-  You would need to be using the same AppleID (account)
As far as deleting the songs, in a situation like this, you should restore the iPod which will delete the songs as well as allow you to sync your own music.
For instructions on how to delete/add songs  it's best to check the manual:
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipod
As far as restoring, you didn't mention what model you are using but just choose your model from here (they have step by step instructions):

  • My iPod touch says there is no space left yet I only have a few songs on it??

iPod touch keeps saying not enough space on it every time try to download anything. Solved this once by putting back to factory settings but its happening again. No photos etc and only three songs on there, can anybody help please.

If you're trying to sync the apps to the iPod touch, see this Apple doc -> iOS: 'Not enough free space' alert when trying to sync
If that isn't it, you may want to try is restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new device, to make sure you aren't carrying over any data that could be causing the problem to happen again.

  • Why is my ipod touch saying there is insufficient memory to take a picture or download a new app, even after I have deleted lots of pictures and apps?

My ipod touch memory doesn't seem to be working correctly.  I tried to take a photo and it said there was insufficient memory.  I deleted all my pictures but it still said the same.  I cannot take pictures or download any apps or the latest systme update despite having now deleted several apps and all my photos.

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and sync
    - Next, click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes. How much storage is used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargraph? How much is used by "other".
    - Sometimes when you delete items and do other things files get put in the "other"category and use up storage. If the "other" is >0.75 GB or so then restore the iPod.

  • IPod Touch says there's missing a disk for syncing??

When I try to sync my iPod Touch into my computer, it says it cannot sync because it is missing a disk. How do I resolve this??

I've had a similar experience with new 8g Nano. After syncing contacts and calendars, I checked my nano(contacts) and it said it could only do a partial sync due to inadequate remaining storage. Storage remaining was 2.3gb. I did another sync and was successful.
This has happened twice now with the second syncing fixing the problem.

  • Why does my iTunes wallet say there are funds available when I know I already spent it all?

When I go to the iTunes Store there seems to be money in my iTunes account, but I know I've already spent it all and I haven't added any funds. Why doesn't iTunes update my account and show what actually have available in my account? For weeks, maybe months, it has been at 142SEK!?!?!? What makes the account update? Can I do something to uppdate my iTunes account? Or maybe it's like that just to make me believe I have more than I think to make me spend money I don't have??? I have bought music even though I knew my account didn't have any funds but it still haven't updated my account. I use iTunes on Windows 7 now but I'm pretty sure it's the same in iTunes on OSX.
Ps. While writing this I downloaded this weeks free single and now the wallet was updated. Now it says I don't have any money in my account. Ds.
