HT4623 My new iPad can no longer connect to the 3G network. I keep getting the message "could not activate cellular date network".
I updated my new iPad to the iOS 6 while connected to wifi. However, it will no longer connect to the 3G network. I keep getting the message "could not activate cellular data network" even though the 3G symbol appears normal. I have tried rebooting, but it still doesn't work. Please help!

how on earth can i fix it? please help me.Do you have the 3G (Verizon or AT&T) model iPad 2? If not, you can't use cellular data. You may only have the WiFi model.

IPHONE 5: can't receive calls and random error messages, such as "could not activate cellular data network" and "no connection - network unavailable, please connect to wifi or cellular network." This occurs even when signal strength or wifi is operational, and it does not matter whether wifi is on or off. ATT went through the standard protocol - resetting network, resetting sim card, etc. No changes. Other phones working fine in same region with same carrier. Apple's solution is to restore software, but haven't gone there yet. Anyone successfully addressed this/these issues?
I should point out that it worked when the iPhone was set back to factory settings, but when restored with the backup, data/internet no longer works again, and I get the "Could not activate cellular data network" error message yet again.

My husband has the exact same phone and I upgraded his IOS at the same time, but this problem is not happening to his phone (we are also on the same plan, so our service should be the same). Our settings appear to be identical and my phone is showing the 3G symbol at the top, so I can't understand why it won't access the network.
I've turned it on and off twice and have reset all settings with my iTunes account, but it still isn't working.
I'm not a complete idiot with this sort of stuff - I have tried all the obvious things. -
I've lost cellular date network, all unopened important business emails and internet access on my Ipad 2 after 5.0 upgrade. Received "Could not activate cellular date network" - I have turned on and off, removed the sim and checked the APN is correct. Can anyone help - struggling and need for my business.

Contact your carrier to ensure data access via their network is provisioned properly for your account and iPhone with the new iOS 6 update installed.

I am receiving a message that iPad could not activate cellular data network and you are not subscribed to a cellular data service. Have signed with carrier, entered sim card and carrier with service bars appearing on top left corner? Any ideas?

Ipad 2 "Could not activate cellular data network" message after I updated to iOS5 despite the 3G network being displayed on the menu bar. How do I resolve this, folks?
There have been some threads with similar problems. One I recall was a user not being able to sign up for cellular service from Verizon after an update to ios 5. The problem seemed to be on verizon's end. If Verizon is your carrier call Verison to find out when they will have a fox for this problem.

OK SO THE PROBLEM STARTED JUST YESTERDAY, I OPENED MY IPAD AND CELLULAR DATA AND TRIED TO OPEN A PAGE IN SAFARI WHEN A MESSAGE PROMPTED SAYING THAT "COULD NOT ACTIVATE CELLULAR DATA". IT WAS WORKING FINE JUST A FEW DAYS AGO.
SO FAR I HAVE VISITED NUMEROUS THREADS AND I HAVE DONE THE FOLLOWING
1. RESET NETWORK SETTINGS
2. APN SETTINGS
3. CLEARED SAFARI COKIES AND DATA AND POWER OFF MY IPAD FOR HOURS AND STARTED AGAIN
4. TURN AIRPLANE MODE ON AND OFF
EACH OF THE ABOVE METHODS WERE OF NO USE
HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATEDDoes anything else work? Like email, app store?

I have submitted below to Apple Support bug report. Hope you will find this useful and Apple will fix the issue soon.
Above errors occurs when switching from Wifi to 3G with certains steps.
IOS version: 5.1
Steps to reproduce:
1. Turn on 3G and Wifi
2. Turn off Wifi
3. Turn off 3G
4. Turn on back 3G
5. Attempt to browse Internet via Safari
6. Errors will occurs
7. From here onwards, above errors will occurs when Switching from Wifi to 3G regardless whether you turn off and on wifi/3G
Possible explanation: There is a bug in the switch on/off of the mobile data network in Ipad settings causing certain setting was amended.
How to prevent: Never ever use the switch. Let IPad decide to switch on/off cellular data network.
Workaround/temporary resolution:
1. Settings > General > Reset Network settings. Apple will automatically restart after this.
2. Follow step: "How to prevent"Hey there nemesyssoft!
Congrats on the new iPad! It's a great device! We certainly want you to be able to use the device as soon as possible. If I may ask, were you still having issues connecting to the data network at all? Activation can take be a bit longer the initial time. Please let us know if you still need assistance.

If you have the sim version (AT&T in the US), did you purchase a sim card from your carrier, insert it and buy data? If you have CDMA version (Verizon in the US), have you contacted your carrier to set up a data plan?

I have had 4 iPhone 4S 3G on Verizon. I have never been able to activate by dialing *228. I could not activate via iCloud or iTunes, either. I went to the apple store. They had to do it. I could not set up a Yahoo email account yesterday on the latest device swapped. The Apple Store rep had to look up a workaround online. It's a CLOWN SHOW!
