HT4623 password request for Ipad backup.

in restoring Ipad to a previous backup in Itunes, the software asks for a Password 'Enter the password to unlock your IPad backup' is the specific wording. What password does this refer to?,Apple ID password and Ipad 4-digit code didn't work.

Sounds like this backup is encrypted (a separate password option on your iPad Summary in iTunes) and if you don't know that password you can't install it for security reasons.

I'm neither a Linux nor an Arch Linux newbie, but inexperienced regarding this particular issue.
I want to enable password request for restart and shutdown and want to know if I'm mistaken, because trial and error might become to time-consuming while working on a project.

If I try to run $ shutdown -hP 28 or $ shutdown -c nothings happens, I need to run $ sudo shutdown -hP 28 and $ sudo shutdown -c and type a password. That's the way I want it.
If I e.g. run $ shutdown -r now no password is needed. I want to disable this. It should behave the same way as shutdown -hP/-c behave. I want to type
$ sudo shutdown -r now or $ sudo systemctl reboot etc. and then the password should be required.
$ sudo grep -vn "#" /etc/sudoers | grep [[:blank:]]
72:root ALL=(ALL) ALL
73:rocketmouse ALL=(ALL) ALL
The user "rocketmouse" should have all permissions after typing a password, but not without typing the password.

I have the same errors occurring at an alarming rate. I did isolate it to the App Store. Specifically when checking for an update. I was hoping that you could test this out for me. Go to your console log and select all messages and then check kernel in the sender box (bottom left). I found that now is a good time to insert a marker. Now launch the app store then got to the update section. Select check for update.
Does this generate a series of the errors? I can reproduce the errors every time I "check for updates". The error would not show up when checking for updates in iTunes.
I did notice errors in both extending from CFNetwork
App store:

Connect iPhone to computer and open iTunes. You will be prompted to update to iOS 7.0. Keep your phone connected until the update is finished.

I realize iTunes is available for partial backups.
I do sync with iTunes. I don't like iTunes.
1. I have 4 different devices I need to backup up. iTunes lets you have one account sync'ed to one PC.
2. iTunes doesn't backup everything.
3. iTunes fails sometimes and you loose what you have sync'ed. I would like backup software that is more reliable.

If you never turned on backup encryption and set a password this would indicate the backup is corrupt.
Delete the backup and create a new one.

False replacement request for ipad

I recently bought an ipad 3g for my trip to Germany. Apple has just sent me an email that my replacement request of a new ipad has been sent to an address in Montreal and I should send my ipad back to them or I will be charged. I did not request the replacement and I am worried that this is some sort of scam. The serial number of the ipad matched mine. Also, when I tried to see if my ipad serial number is registered I am told that my serial number is for a product that has been replaced. I do not know how to contact apple canada from germany and try to correct the situation. I am also very worried that someone has access to my apple identity. I changed my password. Any advice about what I should do would be appreciated. I suppose I will hear from apple when they do not receive my ipad. Also, I checked out the address where they were sending the new ipad--It was to a very upmarket hotel in Montreal, Hôtel Le St-James. It seems suspicious to me that they are delivering to a hotel. I hope someone can give me some advice.

That would be great if the community hosts were involved. Perhaps they could discuss whether I should post this in another more general thread. You used the data. Verizon can not see what it was sued for. However your phone can see whats apps used the data. go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle. line the dates up with your cycle. then there will be a bar graph below that extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right. after those are extended below that will be a list of apps, there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

Help! My PC running iTunes for iPad backup crashed.

I no longer have iTunes backup for my iPad, and there is no way to resurrect that hard drive, it is toast. My problem is, backup was to the PC and not the iCloud account. How do I switch to a new backup on my laptop without wiping out my iPad?

Changing iMacs for iPad backups

Currently I have set my Backup location for my iPad to my iMac.
If were to get another iMac, would all of my data (books, apps, etc.) be available for this new iMac so that when I synch with this new iMac I don't lose anything on my iPad?

You can use Target Disk Mode on the older Mac and transfer all of your content to your new iMac. No backups would be lost. You just need a FireWire cable, most likely 800 to 800 unless you have an older Mac.

Alternatively, you can just re-download all of your iContent (from iTunes/App Store) on your new Mac.

You do not need more storage in iCloud. You need more space on the iPad itself.
Go to settings>General>Usage>Storage to see how much space you have used and how much you up have left. If you have movies that can be downloaded again for free, delete them from the iPad in order to make room. Movies take up a lot of space. You can also delete apps if you want to do so and download them again if needed.
Whatever you do, you should backup your iPad with either iCloud (if that is what you use) or iTunes. If you use iTunes, transfer all ontent to the computer and sync, before you delete any content, so that you can retrieve it at a later time.

Every time I start up iTunes, it asks for password. Not once, but up to 4 times !!

Password Requests for Safari and Entourage

I've been through several forums this week trying to resolve iMac challenges. After all of those fixes were incorporated or tried, I now see dialogue boxes in Safari asking for my keychain password as well as in Entourage. Do I need to change a setting someplace, or is this just to be expected from now on?

OK; too simply stated. I did find pop.charter.net as an Internet password. I clicked on the "i" and another window with two selections appeared: Attributes//Access Control. When I select Access Control, the new window shows only one button clicked that says, "*Confirm before allowing access*." The sub-level button, saying "Ask for keychain password," is not clicked. Nor is the upper level button, saying "Allow all applications to access this item." In the lower window it says, "Always allow access by...Entourage...." What should I do about this? Do I need to change it, delete it or just punt?
