I read other posts concerning reverting the software on iPhones and iPod touches, (some very lengthy), but all answers were most times simply "No." I have a 5th gen. iPod touch which I recently updated to iOS 7. I enjoyed the new look of iOS 7 for the first few days, but I am now bored by the UI. I miss the nostaligic look of iOS 6 and previous generations, and would also like to revert my software back to a previous version. I do not see any need, and do not plan on, having my iPod connected to the internet, so I see no risk in running a previous generation of software. I am wondering if there is any legitimate way of obtaining a previous version of iOS.
If the case is no, I am complaining to any Apple employees who on the off chance may be reading this post (Don't know why they would be in the community forum) I believe for developer and other purposes, previous versions of iOS should be at the disposal of all with Apple products that have or are capable of running them.

Since upgrading to iOS 6 my iPhone now does not connect to my 2013 elantras Bluetooth set up where as with the previous version of iOS it connected seamlessly. Please let me know if you have any solutions. Thanks

You cannot. Apple does not support downgrading of iOS, there is no supported method to do this.

I had an iPhone 3GS unning whatever the latest proper version of iOS currently is at the time of writing (4.3.5, is it?) but on Saturday I was on a rather drunken night out and I lost my phone.
Silly me.
But I was out of contract and the new iPhone (4S or 5 or whatever) is going to be announced on Tuesday next week (just been confirmed by Apple today) so I'm just going to make do with an old, spare Nokia until the new iPhone is available in the UK.
Once the new iPhone launches I will buy it, plug it into iTunes and just restore from backup and I'm back in business.
Except for one thing... The new iPhone will have iOS 5 installed and my last backup before I lost my 3GS was done on iOS 4.3.5.
Is this going to be a problem or can you restore from a backup made with an older version of the OS?
I've never done it before so I don't know.

You "should" have no problem doing that. I say should, because you can't restore a backup made with a higher iOS on a device running a lower iOS, I.E. - you can't restore a backup made from a device running, let's say iOS 4.3.5 on a device running iOS 4.2.10. However, iOS 5.0 will present many new features and since it has not been released, I have no way of stating with certainty that doing as you plan will not present any problems. Past history indicates it won't, but we'll have to wait & see.

I updated to the new IOS on my 4S yesterday. Today I can't access my contacts. I select one and it freezes for over a minute before the selection is viewed. I can't exist this way. I need my phone for work. HELP!! Is anyone else having this issue? Any solutions? Can I go back to the previous IOS?

Downgrding to a previous verions of iOS?

hello,
I've two mac, an old MacMini with OSX 1.4.x and iTunes 9.x used as a media center (with all my multimedia files on it) and a MacPro with OSX 1.5.x and iTunes 10.x.
A few days ago I plugged my iPhone in the MacMini trying to upgrade it to the latest iOS version but then I discovered that I also needed iTunes 10, but My MacMini is running Tiger and iTunes 10 cannot be installed on it .
So I plugged the iPhone on the newer MacPro and upgraded the firmware easily...
A few hours later I plugged again the iPhone on the MacMini (to add some new music) and surprise surprise the iTunes on the mini failed to recognise the iPhone (because of iTunes 9.x).
Now, to cut it short, can I downgrade the firmware on the iPhone to the previous version (the iOS 4.01 i think)?
I can try to upgrade the OSX of the MacMini (with a limit to Leopard due to older hardware config of the machine) but I fear that in the next months (with other iTunes updates requiring more recent versions of Leopard) I'll be again in trouble.

Maybe I expressed my thoughts in a inappopriate way (english is not my language).
With the actual Firmware on my iPhone I cannot *any longer* connect it to the MacMini and i.e. change a playlist, synch tunes bought via iPhone or simply update my iCal...
Nothing. nada. niet. (all I got is an error message).
I don't want to jalbreak or similar thing, I simply want to start using my iPhone again just like yesterday (for now I can forfeit the latest upgrade and just live with it... at least until I'll upgrade my 3Gs to a 5g next year .

Upgrade to Snow Leopard - it's compatible with the latest version of iTunes, and still supports PowerPC applications.

Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

Will going back to previous version help, and how can restore my IOS from 6.1 to previous version without loosing contents on my iphone? I have taken all normal precautions such as closing apps, turning off blutooth, manually fetching email, not using browser.....nothing seems to work.

This is pulling up the recently used apps bar. Most, if not all, of those apps are not running at all. This is just a list of the apps that you have used recently.
The very few apps that run in the backgound are managed by ios.

There is no "update icon" in iOS versions earlier than iOS 5.
The update is very large (over 1.2 gigabytes). You need a good internet connection to download it to your computer. Maybe you'll need to take a trip to a city to get a good enough connection.

How can I go back to a previous version of software as iOS 5 has stopped car bluetooth working.

I have an i-phone 3GS and a 56 Plate Ford Fiesta with factory fitted bluetooth audio. This is a Nokia bluetooth but has allowed me to call hands free with this phone and previous i-phones and other brands with no problem. I upgraded to iOS5 and I can now not make calls through it. If I press call, the radio says 'dialling' but the ringing tone and when someone answers just goes straight back to the handset and not through hands free which makes it redundant in the UK. I rang Apple and asked how to go back to a previous version of software that does work but was told Apple staff were not allowed to tell me how to do this. His only other suggestion was that I buy a new car which wasn't massively helpful or practical. I have seen quite a few messages on the internet of people having this sort of problem after they upgraded. Does anyone know how to go back a previous version or how to get bluetooth back working with my car as I quite like the iOS 5 update it's just no good if I can't use it in car.? I've tried deleting and re-pairing but that hasn't worked. Does anyone also know whether Apple have picked up on this bluetooth compatibility problem and whether they are planning on doing anything to fix it as it does seem to have affected a lot of people and if it can't be resolved I'll just have to stop using i-phones and go to another manufacturer as it's not helpful living in a country where you to have hands free and then not being able to do that because a software update prevents it. Any help would be greatly received.

Thanks for the answer. I am not new to IOS software but I don't really ever bother with it, have discovered how little I take advantage of the i-phones capability, in reality I still only really use it to phone, text, check emails, listen to music and look on internet. I'm not keen on jailbreaking it as I don't trust it to work so normally just update and leave it at that. Only reason I wanted to downgrade was because the update had stopped my bluetooth working but Kilted Tim solved that problem for me so am now not interested in downgrading software. I quite liked the things that IOS 5.1 gave me but wasn't happy with fact that bluetooth stopped working in car as it caused me problems. One day I might try and work out exactly what I-phones can do but on the basis that it's a phone all I really want it to do is phone, if that bit works I'm happy.
