HT4623 Restore Single App Data?

Is it possible to restore a single app's data to an iphone from a previous backup?

App data is stored in only two places, on your device, & as part of your device's backup. To restore this data would require restoring from a backup that contained the data. However, the restore from backup process ia all or nothing. Further, an iCloud backup cannot be viewed or edited. It can only be restored to another iOS device.

  • How can I simply restore lost app data from iCloud, without resetting all content. Please someone!!!

I accidentally deleted a timesheet app from my iPhone, I reinstalled the app again but the data did not come back with it. Can someone help me with details how I can restore my lost data for just that app, from iCloud. iCloud is and was set up on my phone and was updated 3 days before this happened. People have suggested I "reset all content and setting" and it will come back. The sounds of deleting all content on my phone worries me. I have no other devices to back up on, so my only back up is in "iCloud"
Is there a simple way I can download and reinstall just the data for the app from iCloud?

Delete all content and settings will wipe your phone. You cannot selectively restore in iTunes or iCloud, it is either all or none. You would have to restore to a backup before you deleted the app to be able to recover the data. However, anything that you did since that time would be lost.

  • After syncing my ipod touch with a new computer, will an icloud backup restore my app data including game progress?

I have an ipod touch which I have USB synced in the past on my Windows Vista laptop.
Now I want to stop USB Syncing with the laptop and USB start syncing instead with my Windows 7 Desktop machine instead.
Both PCs have the latest version of itunes running and I have transferred all purchases from the ipod to the Windows 7 desktop machine.
Home sharing is turned on on both PCs, so now their libraries appear identical.
The ipod has the latest IOS installed, and I have set up automatic icloud back ups for the ipod.
If i USB sync the ipod with the windows 7 desktop PC it warns me that all data will be erased, and replaced with data from that computer. I know that this will mean that all game progress is lost since it is not included in a USB sync backup and virgin copies of all the apps will be loaded onto the ipod.
    My Question is this;
What is the best way to keep the app data intact on the ipod?
Do I simply carry out a USB sync with the Windows 7 desktop PC, let it wipe all the game save info away, and then resore an icloud backup onto the ipod?
Will this result in me being able to sync with the Windows 7 desktop PC and keep my game save data intact?
    Thanks

    Two ways.
    - You can sync with the new computer by following these instructions
Sync Your iOS Device with a New Computer Without Losing Data - How-To Geek
All the apps have to be in the iTunes library so the app data will have a place to go.
    - Or just restore from iCloud backup. That will also pull down the apps from iCloud. Your apps data will also be restored.

  • Reset Contacts/ Restore only app data

My situation is very complicated, and when I fully explained I got very few views and no answers.
Basically the file that holds my contacts is corrupted. I need one of the following solutions:
-Name and path of the contacts file on my iPhone
-Delete contacts file in backup (held on mac)
-Way to only backup app data (because I can restore everything else via iCloud sync)
    The following tricks don't work:
-telling to delete all synced data
    -replace iPhone with MobileMe contacts
    -replace iPhone with Mac contacts
    -deleting and re-importing all contacts
-app to delete all contacts or selected contacts
Sooner the better. Basically I need this fix because all interactions with these contacts don't show in apps. All interactions show as if they come from someone I don't know..
-texts show phone numbers instead of names
-missed calls show numbers instead of name
    Real desperate. Please help

It looks like selecting Restore again forced iTunes to load the 3rd party apps onto my iPhone. Strange!

  • Best way to restore game app data to iPad after rebuild

I rebuilt my UMBP over the weekend. Before doing so I took a copy of my documents, movies etc, and the entire iTunes library folder and placed it onto an external HDD. This was not a Time Machine backup, but a straight copy. After rebuilding, reinstalled latest iTunes and copied just the songs back across and re-authorized the library. I didn't copy the entire folder into the new place, but I still have all the items.
When I went to connect the wifes iPad for sync, it begins the whole "new device" process and must be "erased to sync." Problem with this is she has one or two apps on there with significant game data (Bejeweled for instance) that she doesn't want to loose.
Any advice on best way to resolve this, i.e. able to connect the iPad and sync to rebuilt machine without losing the data? Can I obtain the old backup(s) from the folder and use that or am I better just copying the entire folder across from the external drive onto the rebuilt machine. I did have a search and while there is plenty of backup / restore advice, nothing seems to match my situation 100%.
    Thanks in advance.

Try to backup manually. Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your device, right click on it in the device list and choose backup. This will copy all settings, photos and 3rd party data including your game settings to iTunes. Do the same thing to transfer your purchases to be sure to have the latest apps and media copied over.
Set up at least one contact and event on the computer, so that calendars and contacts are being merged during the first sync.
Since all data will be erased during this first sync, use this backup to restore your settings afterwards.

  • System restore - lose app data?

    Hello,
I need to do a system restore on my mother's iPad Air.  She is an avid player of certain games on Facebook.  I'm wondering if her data, i.e.  FB Slotomania bank roll, will be deleted....?  I'm thinking no, but would just like to confirm.  Thanks!!

Cap, you may be right on that, if the FaceBook account and all associated content are associated with her and NOT your Apple ID then she will be ok with you switching the Apple IDs.
Is the iPad she has one that came with FaceBook installed or did you install FaceBookusing yourq Apple ID?  If the FaceBook app came preinstalled then she owns it and the coins...as I understand how FB works.
You can do a simple test, go to Settings > FaceBook and check how the account and password are entered.  Check the Settings for FB and see if there is any tie to you.
If not, go to Settings > iCloud and Delete Account so there is not the tie there to you.  Create an Apple ID and password and email address for your mother, then enter that account for her.  Go to the Stores > Apple ID > Sign Out, back up and change the Apple ID to the new one you created for your mother, then move forward and Sign in...you will have to enter the new password.
Now you can test and see if she can successfully play her game.
If so, in Settings go down each app and see if any are tied to your ID and if so, change them.
That way you have not done a bulk erase of settings and content but should make the iPad hers.

  • How do I recover data from a single App using an iTunes backup and put it back on my iPhone?

An app I use (Text Me 2) automatically cleared conversation history. I have an iTunes back-up of it from last year. I tried searching a ton and found articles, but never found a step-by-step article from start to finish describing how I can get only that app's data back on my iPhone without having to restore the entire thing (otherwise I lose all of my last 6 months of content)? All the articles I read stopped after using the iPhone backup extractor to extract, and didn't tell me how to get that back onto my iPhone. I use iTunes on Mac OS Mavericks also.
    Thanks in advance!

Then what's with all of the programs these two responses mention and being able to restore a single app data?
If you know you are going to do this in advance and have a jailbroken phone, use AppBackup which you can get through cydia. Otherwise, if this need arises after having restored already, you can get the data from an iPhone backup using iPhone Backup Extractor and/or a Time Machine backup (you can google to find the location of the backups, but I think it's in Application Support > Mobile Sync > Backups), and then restore the documents/library folders of the application using iExplorer (which is by the same people who made iPhone Explorer but was changed for legal reasons and now is slightly more user friendly and suited for this purpose. I just did this to restore my Angry Birds scores/data among other things.
    and
I do that with iTools. You can backup each app with its data into an ipa file to the computer, to restore it individually. This allows you to merge apps with its data from different backups.
...not to mention I found several answers like this in various forums...

  • HT1414 will restore also restore app data?

Recently several of my apps got deleted. I'vr reinstalled most but some are missing their data. Will a device restore also restore my app data?

App data is saved int eh backup that iTunes makes at the beginning of every USB sync. If you restore from backup your app data will be retained/restored also provided that the app are alsi in your iTunes library.
I do not understand what Fiona Felicity said by: "Yes they will restore unless they are saved in itunes> apps."
Abb data is saved in the backup, not with the ap in the iTunes App library.

  • ICloud app data restore

Can someone help me find my iCloud backups so I can restore data from one of my apps to my iphone 4s? Is this even possible?

I checked that many app data are still in my iCloud backup, let's the "Path on" app, there is 18MB data.
This app no longer on my iPhone for quite a while, and subsequently backup haven't removed this entry.
If I really want to restore this app data, any way to do so?

  • How do I upgrade my iPod touch to IOS 5.0.1 without losing my app data?

I want to upgrade my iPod touch (4.3.3) to IOS 5.0.1, but I don't want to lose my app data (Tiny Tower, etc.)
I transferred all my purchases to the host computer. I also backed up my app data. Before I update the IOS software on my iPod touch, I'd like to find out if the app data on my iPod will be erased as part of the upgrade.
If so, will a restore from backup restore the app data?

  • Lost app data after sync

Hi, yesterday I connected my ipod to my computer and when I disconnected, I noticed that my apps were gone but were still in itunes. I reconnected it and told it to sync the apps. When it finished I found that all my apps were back in my ipod but they were all moved to the end. That's annoying but whatever.
Later on, I realized that all the data for my apps were gone. I'm especially concerned with a bible app that I have on there. I had so many notes and highlights that are all just gone now. I notice that all the notes I made in the notebook that came installed on the ipod are all still there, however.
Is there any way to restore my apps' data?

Only way is to restore from backup via iTunes.
Restore iPod touch from a backup:
1 Connect iPod touch to the computer you normally sync with.
2 In iTunes, Control-click iPod touch in the Devices list and choose “Restore from Backup”
    from the menu that appears.
3 Choose the backup that you want to restore from the pop-up menu, then click Restore.
If your backup is encrypted, enter your password.

  • How to transfer SOME apps + app data from one iPad to another

I have an iPad1 that has tons of apps on it (I call it my app graveyard).
I have an iPad2 that has my primary apps and this is the iPad that I use on a daily basis.
I want to move an App and the Saved Data from the iPad1 to the iPad2. How do I do this?
Again, I don't want to restore everything... just a couple of Apps + their SAVED data from my iPad1 to my iPad2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When you restore from a backup - the process is an "all or nothing" deal. You restore all app data and settings. You cannot select just one set of app data to restore.
You can download the one app only to the other iPad but you cannot restore the data from just one app. It's just not possible to do.

  • ICloud restoring outdated apps

I have a bit of a problem here. I have a few apps that won't install from the app store with an iCloud restore because they are no longer in the app store. I didn't know iCloud restored apps fresh from online. So.. I synced the apps from iTunes after I got the error that iCloud restore wasn't complete because of this and now I guess iCloud won't restore the app data I uploaded for those apps. Is there anyway to get that data back?

Ok... I've had iOS 5 since release and everything was fine. Some reason I got the boot screen and wouldn't go away so I had to restore. I did a complete fresh restore in DFU mode to get a clean install. Every app I had on my phone last night was synced to iCloud before this happened. Now... when I restored in iTunes I used the welcome app ON the phone and restored from iCloud backup. Because the REMOVED apps were not in the app store anymore it would not load that app data and it won't let you sync your phone on iTunes via the computer because that is how iCloud works. So after the incomplete iCloud restore finished. I synced my apps and music with iTunes and now I have ALL my apps back on my phone. But since you have to restore from iCloud backup right when the phone is restored then I am not able to sync the apps before I restore from backup.
Because of all this I can't get my app data which is important for those REMOVED apps. This is a issue with iCloud with what I'm seeing. Apple needs to make a check box or something to not download your apps from the app store.
Not sure if I can be anymore clearer than this. Hopefully this helps.

  • BlackBerry backup file & third-party app data

    Q:
    1. Does the Desktop Software really back all data up during creation the backup file ?
    2. Are there the specific third-party application data – Opera Mini Bookmarks – saved to the IPD backup file ?
    3. Is there any possibility to retrieve my Opera Mini Bookmarks from BlackBerry.ipd backup file ?
I did new backup file before upgrading BlackBerry OS. The OS upgrade process restored all applications previously installed but all my Opera bookmarks disappeared.
I tried to recover the applications data from the backup file via BB Desktop Software (Restore > Select device data and settings > RMS Databases) but I couldn’t retrieve my OM bookmarks.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    BB Curve 8520 / BB OS v.5.0.0.1113 / BB DS v.6.0.1.18 / Opera Mini v.7.1.3355

    Sdgardne,
first of all, thank you for your valuable and kind reply.
As I’m not advanced user of the BB-device, I had tried several times to solve the problem (retrieving the particular, 3rd-party app data - OM Bookmarks) and finally found solution to the issue:
    1. Downgrade the Opera Mini v. 7.1 to the Opera Mini 7.0 version
    2. Restore the app data: RMS Databases from .ipd (or .bbb) backup file
    (for Desktop Software v.6.0.1.18):
Device > Restore > Select backup file (.ipd) / Select Data to restore > Select Device Data and Settings [option] > choose from the list: RMS Databases > OK
P.S., there is something wrong with Opera Mini 7.1, it can not initiate to restore its own data from RMS Databases.

  • How can I restore TextEdit.app?

I had to restored my whole iMac (OS 10.9.3, intel) from Time Machine backup.  (Don't know what broke system.  Virus scan says it is clean.)  Now the TextEdit.app is broken.  I tried to individually restore TextEdit from Time Machine but a dialog box says "'TextEdit.app' can't be modified or deleted because it's required by OS X."  How can I restore TextEdit?
Interestingly, TextEdit worked fine just the day before but, according to Time Machine, it has been broken since January.  So, I tried to restore it from the January backup.  Same dialog box tells me it can't be modified because it is required by OS X.

You want to restore the app data, not the app itself. You still have the app, or at least that's the way that I interpret your post. Do you backup with iCloud or iTunes? If you do, you can try restoring the backup in order to recover the recipes, assuming that the recipes are in the backup.
