Then you have to use the Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice..

    I fixed it!!
    While not connected to any USB cable I put the iPad in recovery mode.
    To do that turn the iPad completely off. Press and hold the home button while turning the iPad on, once you see the apple logo release the home button.
    Turn on your OS X mac after it boots up connect the USB from iPod to Mac. iTunes should start. If not launch itunes.
    Perform the factory restore process paying attention to all of the screen message windows. Then set up the ipad like it was new.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Start here (change country if necessary) and navigate to 'Password and Security', reset your security questions using the link provided, you will receive an email to your rescue address, use the link in the email and reset your security questions.
    If that doesn't help, you don't receive a reset email or you don't have a rescue address, you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.
    If you are in a region that doesn't have international telephone support try contacting Apple throughiTunes Store Support.

    Are you sure it's asking for a four digit code?
    iOS 7 has a new feature called Activation Lock.  It requires your Apple ID and password before doing something like an iPhone reset.  This is a new anti-theft feature.

  • HT4946 I accidently backed up my I Pad 2 to my computer and when trying to restore it, it asks for a password that I never set.

    I connected my iPad 2 to my Windows 7 computer through iTunes. At this moment it began to back up without me realising. After I was finished transferring a movie, I have discovered that all my music has disappeared. Thanks in advance.

    If you do not know the password for the encryption, the backup cannot be used.
    Backing up the device has absolutely nothing to do with having media on the device.  Backups have never included the media on the device.

  • I tried to purchase an app from another computer and it asked for security questions that I never established

    It asked for answers that I did institute , how do I edit this ?

    The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
    There isn't much that can be done at this point. If you did not set up the questions then I would be concerned that someone else has taken over your account. If there is a bank card in the account I would alert your bank.

  • I put my sim card into a new iphone and tried to change it back to the old one and now the phone is locked. It's asking for a passcode and I didn't have a passcode set up.

    Hi! I need help! I put my sim card into a new iphone (3g) and then tried to put it back into the old one to get my contacts from it. Now the old iphone is locked and it's asking for a passcode, but I never set up a passcode on it. Has anyone experienced this or does anyone know what to do? Thanks!

    Not sure if this applies to your region, but in Australia the SIM password is often written on the "credit card" sized plastic card that the SIM was provided to you with the phone by the telco. Do you still have this? It could be in the iPhone box?

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • HT1212 I just updated my Ipad 2 to IOS7, now it is asking me for a passcode. I never set a passcode on my Ipad, so how can I enter a passcode. I tried using the OIS7 passcode I use on my Iphone  and it did not work and now my Ipad is disabled
    I just updated my Ipad 2 to IOS 7, now it is asking me for a passcode. I never set a passcode on my Ipad, so how can I enter a passcode. Earlier today I upgraded my Iphone 5 to IOS 7 and it asked me to set a passcode, which now works fine on my Phone. I  tried using the OIS7 passcode I use on my Iphone 5 and it did not work and now my Ipad is disabled. Both devices are on icloud and share the same apple id. The Ipad screen says slide to set up but then there is a prompt for passcode, not for setting up passcode
    I called Apple Support and a supervisor helped resolve this for me on my iPad. I suggest calling them for help as this is obviously an issue with the iOS 7 update - she helped me without charge. I could be missing something in my upcoming description, so do not take this as complete - call them.
    I had to update iTunes on my Mac Air to the latest version, and I had an iCloud backup from the day I updated to iOS7. Have iTunes open but do NOT connect your iPad yet. Shut down the iPad. Then press/hold the Home key on the iPad while you connect the USB from the iPad to the computer (an image of the USB cable appeared on the iPad). Follow the prompts in iTunes to restore and then backup using iCloud. When the iPad rebooted again to do the backup install, I got the same pass code issue and iTunes would not recognize the iPad without entering a pass code. I disconnected the iPad, turned it off, pressed the Home key while connecting the USB cable. When I did the restore and backup from iCloud the second time, it worked without the pass code issue occurring.
  • Just got home with my ipad and its asking for a passcode which i haven't set.....any ideas please???
    just got home with my new ipad and its asking for a passcode to let me in - haven't set one up, wasn't told about this in store, any ideas please???? Have tried my apple password & my passcode i use with my i-phone but none works.
    Was this a used iPad? Try going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This will completely restore the iPad to brand new. It will erase all content, but since the iPad is brand new and you haven't made any changes to it, there is no content that will be erased. Except the passcode, of course
    Welcome to the Apple Community Robin.
    Contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
    ipad is asking for a passcode which I never installed. iPad is now disabled. Tried syncing to itunes with my mac book pro, won't sync. How do I fix this?
    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
    Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.
