HT4623 Tried to update my iPhone 4 this morning and it's frozen. When I turn it off and on again I just get the apple sign fading in and out and cannot use the phone
Can anyone help. I tried to update my iPhone 4 this morning and it just got half way through the update and froze. I managed to turn it off eventually, but now all it will do is show the apple sign fading in and out and is un usable. It's not even being recognised as plugged into the laptop!!!!!!!

That is not what it says. Read the message again. It's telling you it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and it must be restored.

This means that either your firewall/antivirus is blocking access to Apple's servers, or you have used your computer to jailbreak an iDevice in the past. The link above tells you how to resolve this issue. -

I lost my IPhone 4S this morning and want to increase my cloud storage so I can back it up when it finds a signal and then remotely erase it...I'm assuming the worst that whoever finds is will not call me or want to return the phone. I went to icloud but it only govers me options to increase storage from my iPhone or a synced computer (mac or PC).
If the phone is offline there is no way to track it or send a message to it. You can place it in lost mode to lock it and send it a message (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmfc0f0165), but this will not take place until the phone goes back online, if it ever does. If it does, you will get an email informing you.

I was trying to update my Security Questions this morning but got 'Timed Out' I've just tried again to get into my security settings but the system does not recognise the information I'm putting in. Can anyone tell me how I can correct this problem. I can still log-in.

You might try to see if you can change your security questions. Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account > Password and Security.
I'm able to do this, others say they need to input answers to their current security questions in order to make changes, I'm inclined to think its worth a try, you don't have anything to lose.
If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through Express Lane (select your country, navigate to iCloud help and enter the serial number of one of your devices) -
I started the newest update on my iphone4 this morning and did a hard reset before it completed. Now my phone is locked, displaying the itunes and plug-in symbols. How do I get my phone back?
The iPhone is telling you it is in recovery mode. Connect it to your computer and restore in iTunes

Claudius,either you didn't read my post, or you jumped to conclusions. I had a skype account that was created using a microsoft account (NOT THE ACCOUNT I AM USING NOW). PURE MICROSOFT ACCOUNT NO OTHER ACCOUNT LINKING.I had to change the primary mail of that account.I was told "no can do" by skype support.I found that if I went to account settings and clicked on the link on the line below the one that said "MICROSOFT etc" (labeled something along the lines of "TV or Device") I got the opportunity to set the password of the "live:username" account (WHICH YOU COINCIDENTALLY HAVE TO DO IF YOU WANT TO USE SMART TVs ETC).Once that was done, I COULD SUCCESSFULLY DO WHAT SKYPE SUPPORT SAID WAS IMPOSSIBLE- I could change the primary mail address. once that was done, and NOT BEFORE, I linked the account to a facebook account as well, just to be sure I have more than one way to access the skype account. What caused you to get the impression that I was writing something else? furthermore this sentence - "The solution you described in your initial message isn't actually once since all the time you were operating on different account that weren't actually linked" does not make sense, I think you mis-edited it.and I need to point out that you are incorrect. I Just updated my iPhone 4 to 7.1 oS. I am unable to connet to any network. I keep getting the "searching" No Service" messages on the top let corner of the screen. I also get a notice that says " "Unable to load network list. I need help... How can one resolve this issue?
No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that. -
Started a Itunes software update this morning which didn't work. Now Itunes will not open at all. I get the following message."The program can't state becasue MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer."
There are a couple of options that I know of to fix the issue.
One is listed in this thread - https://discussions.apple.com/message/24606478#24606478 - and involves uninstalling iTunes and related components and then re-installing iTunes. You will need to read the instructions in the thread to see the correct uninstall order.
Second option is use System Restore to set your system back to a date prior to the iTunes update. I did this before finding the thread mentioned above.
Not sure exactly what the problem is but I know, after a search, that MSVCR80.dll was indeed already installed on my computer.

I got the iPhone 5s this morning and I kept my number and as soon as it charged I got all my messages, but when I connected it to my iCloud and backed it up, when it was finished all the messages I received were gone. How do I get them back?

It sounds like you may have either set the iPhone up as a new iPhone or restored from a backup that didn’t have your messages on it. If you do have either an iCloud or iTunes backup that you believe has your messages saved, you can restore from that backup to recover your information. Please use the attached article as a reference for restoring from a backup.

While updating my iphone 4s to ios6, I had to restore it. Now every time I connect to itunes, I get the "Set Up Your iPhone" window with the set up as new iphone and restore from backup options. After the restore, I got everything except my apps and music back. Do I need to set the phone up as new again?
