Your phone is in recovery mode. You need to restore it.

TS1717 was updating my phone and now is frozen with the iTunes and an emblem of a usb cable wants me to restore my phone. last time i hit restore it cleared my phone to original settings and lost my address book.

I updated my iTunes and then went to update my iPod to the newer 4.2 version that it kept asking me to and now it says that iTunes cannot connect the iPod. My iPod is now unusbale because the screen on the iPod itself shows that i need to connect it to iTunes, but when I do, there's an error message that pops up telling me that iTunes cannot connect it. Help!! How do I fix this?!

Can't update my iPad and now stuck on connect to iTunes screen

My iPad 2 stopped half way through updating today and now is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen. I connected it to my computer, started the restore process, downloaded the update and then I got an error and it went back to the start again! I thought, "ok I'll just go find the file that was downloaded and retry installing it" only to discover that iTunes had deleted the 1.5 GB update it had just downloaded (it took my 2 hours and to top it off I have to pay extra for anything over 500MB I use per day...) Is there any other way to install this update or reset my iPad to factory settings without having to update it?

Two options. Create a guest user on the computer and there will not be any content on the "guest" iTunes. Or if unable to do that set up the iPhone as New. Do not subsequently synch the phone.
Third option is to take the phone to the Genius Bar at an Apple store.
