HT4623 Trying to update to iOS7. Update was successful, but needed to do a few things next. Went through steps, then phone states update iCloud settings. Phone has been trying to update all night and today without success. Is there anything I can do?
Trying to update to iOS7. Update successful except a few more things to do. Now it is in "updating iCloud settings" and has been updating all night and day. Do not understand why it is taking so long? Any suggestions?
Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds. Ignore the swipe to turn off message.

Basic Backup
For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components:
1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences;
2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is
used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine
requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the
drive being backed up.
Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
1. Carbon Copy Cloner
2. Get Backup
3. Deja Vu
4. SuperDuper!
5. Synk Pro
6. Tri-Backup

Although you can buy a complete external drive system, you can also put one together if you are so inclined. It's relatively easy and only requires a Phillips head screwdriver (typically.) You can purchase hard drives separately. This gives you an opportunity to shop for the best prices on a hard drive of your choice. Reliable brands include Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Toshiba, and Fujitsu. You can find reviews and benchmarks on many drives at Storage Review.
Enclosures for FireWire and USB are readily available. You can find only FireWire enclosures, only USB enclosures, and enclosures that feature multiple ports. I would stress getting enclosures that use the Oxford chipsets especially for Firewire drives (911, 921, 922, for example.) You can find enclosures at places such as;

All you need do is remove a case cover, mount the hard drive in the enclosure and connect the cables, then re-attach the case cover. Usually the only tool required is a small or medium Phillips screwdriver. -
I just downloadeId the ios 6.1 and all of my contacts disappeared. Is there anything I can do to get them back?
Assuming that you backed up prior to deleting your contacts, navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from.
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now. -
I backed up my files on dvds before buying a new computer. When I went to tranfer teh files onto my new cpu the dvds were blank. Is there anything I can do to get my files back. Oh and I live in Canada.............
It would probably work if the thumb drive was still connected when you tried to play the song.
Go to iTunes preferences Advanced tab. There is a checkbox for Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library. If that checkbox is not checked, iTunes adds songs to your library but links to the song file from where it was added (which would be on the thumb drive). When you disconnect the thumb drive, iTunes says "the original file cannot be located."
If this is the reason for your problem, check that checkbox. You may also want to check the other checkbox for Keep iTunes Media folder organized, if it's not checked already.
With the thumb drive NOT connected, remove all of the songs you recently added from the iTunes library. Then, connect the thumb drive and add the songs again, like you did before. This time, iTunes will make of copy of the song files and put them in the iTunes Media folder. -
So I bought my iPhone 4s last night and first thing I did was update to iOS 5.0.1 then inlet the battery die. It charged all night and was at 100% in just 2 minutes it drained down to 98% have I done something wrong? All I did was reply to two text messages. All my other phones wouldn't lose battery for a good 30 mins
Give it a chance. It takes a while for the battery condition to find its feet. And - just a personal hint - don't panic over a couple of percent on the battery readout.

Upgraded to 6.0.2 and all of my bookmarks were lost. is there anything I can do?
I have tried blog suggestions to get back my bookmarks but they were not clear as to which platform. I have a MacBook OS 10.5.8. None of the suggestions worked to bring back my bookmarks from the previous version of Firefox. In addition, I was going through the Firefox tutorials and I do not have the Firefox button above the tab bar which seems critical for a lot of the functionality. Can you help? thanks, Michelle
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Without proper system information and other details like the crash logs nobody can say anything. Presumably, if you mean CC 2014, you have a graphics acceleration issue, so turn that stuff off in the prefs.

There's no way to deactivate a warranty.
The warranty transfers with the machine, has nothing to do with the owner.
Look around in the Support pages, you can figure out a way to type in your serial number and see what your current warranty status is. -
Can anyone from APPLE help us? Just recently the ipad 2 has been disconnecting itself. WE have had NO issues for 1 year. All other Apple products in the house are running fine from same router/wifi. Did Apple suddenly do something to ipad that is causing this disruption??
You may think you are connected to the internet, but maybe not. Click on Safari and see if it connects.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

My AOL account is on Mozilla/firefox, I do not have a disk loaded version. Unfortunately, I stupidly gave a "AOL Support" service my password, they got into my account, sent emails to my contact list, and cleared out my contacts as well as my saved folders. I immediately changed my password, but still lost the files.
Is there a procedure I can use to recover those AOL files??You should contact AOL directly. They probably make backups every so often. Might not be up-to-date, but it's a better bet than combing through old cache files on your PC.

When I bought it it was working just fine. There was no sim in it when I got it. I went into the settings and reset the phone back to factory. The phone rebooted itself and now, when the loading symbol is done loading, it goes away for a second and then is right back. It just keeps rebooting over and over until it's dead.
My computer won't find it and the charger isn't charging it anymore.Possibly... but per the terms of use of these forums, discussion of jailbroken devices is not permitted.

It started this morning when i was syncing it to my iTunes to get some pictrues off of it for class and it said to restore it. I've done restore before so I clicked and went along. But then it didnt work at all and came up with error 14. I shut down my pc and turned it back on, plugged it in and after an hour of syncing it worked. Left, went to class and noticed that none of my music or apps were on my phone so after my class i went and plugged it back in again. Thats when everything went down hill. It said the same things about restoring and what nots so I didnt think anything of it. Everytime I tried again it said it would fail with the error messages as 14,2003, or 3200. Now it's not even showing up in my iTunes when i plug it in. I've tried the advice on here but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any ideas?

You'll see a large image that takes a few seconds to load. In the web, we know this is far too long. The site is about architecture and the images have to stay big. That being said, I've seen sites where the image sort of comes in pixelated at first, then slowly focuses. Can anyone tell me what technology they are using and where I could get started with that?

StanUsing regular cable internet it takes 3 to 5 seconds for the page to load first time around or when a refreshed as a new image is called. It is less than a second once in my cache.
I'm going to guess and question a little here:
You are using flash on part of the page for the menu. How long does that take to load by itself?
You are also using php to rotate your images, so the server has to process that request for each time that an image is changed. Can you save those processing times by saving those on the server and so the request can access the already processed page. (There is a way to do that, but I forgot what it is called) Or can you use a different method of rotating the images that would be faster.
Since the bigPictureBox image that is being displayed is 405x930 px, what is the actual file size and quality of those images as well as the format of the files?
Using 'Save For Web' in Photoshop almost always gives smaller file sizes that regular 'Save'
Spliting the images up will only increase the total display time, but will allow a portion to show as the rest are called, but I don't think that will work for rotating as you are doing.
