having problem with my updates with ios7.. don't know what would be the problem. have tried many ways. thru wifi connection and thru desktop with itunes. always error 3004. any solutions there?? thanks in advance..

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes can't contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software isn't interfering with ports 80 or 443 or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow these steps to troubleshoot security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (go to "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you're using a proxy, try again without using a proxy.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.
Error 3004: If you're using a Mac, you may be able to resolve an error 3004 by quitting iTunes and using the following command in the command line: dscacheutil -flushcache.

When I held shift on update and selected the ios 5 it worked.Now that I have the update it gets stuck on "preparing software" and "contacting iPhone activation center". I had that problem with ios 7.0.3 I didn't have any sound when I first updated, I did this as follow:
• A reset using the close & home button brought the sound back but it was horrid.
(volume adjustment didn't improve the sound)
• A second reset fixed the sound.

Same here. Doesn't matter if I do a restore or an update. My desktop does a full backup of my iPhone 4 (4.3.5 AT&T), then prepares to update, then fails with error code 3200. 5 times now.
This is on a Win7-64 desktop running iTunes 10.5-64

Error 3194, AKA "This device is not eligible.. occurs for several reasons:
1. Update to the latest iTunes - currently 10.4.1.
2. Disable ALL security apps (firewall, antivirus/spyware) running on your computer. Additional measures may be needed.
3. You may need to edit the Hosts file on your computer to remove references to gs.apple.com if you EVER used hacking techniqus or apps such as tinyumbrella.
4. Don't try to downgrade the iOS.
5. If the phone was EVER successfully hacked in the past (jailbreak, downgrade, unauthourized unlock) there may be nothing you can do now to fix this.

Ok make sure you have iTunes 11. Then connect iPod touch to computer then iTunes should pop up automatically. After it opens on the bottom left there should be a tab where it says your name and then iPod. For example (Johns iPod) click on that then it brings all your information of the iPod including restore and updating.

Update iOS 5 internal errors

So, I've restarted, turned off firewall, and changed USB. Get internal errors on both iPhone and iPad. Both running version 4.3.5. Have Lion 10.7.2 on my iMac. Soooo .... could it simply be everyone's trying to update? Anyway, I've tried each device a few times and still get the same error. The last time I tried it said couldn't do it because the servers that handle the update were busy.

What did you use to attempt the update to OS X 10.5.4 (software update or something else)?
In any event, I suspect something went wrong in the download process. Try downloading the combo updater and then applying it.

Wireless updating of iOS is a feature of iOS5 and above. With your iOS4 you need to update to the current OS by connecting to your computer running iTunes, and follow iTunes' prompts for updating.

Sorry, you can't. iOS 4.2.1 is the end of the line for your phone, there are no further updates available.
If you want to run a higher iOS version, you need to purchase a newer model iPhone.

That's because OTA (Over the Air) updating was not available until 5.0. You have to physically connect to the computer you sync with to get your IOS upgraded to 5.0 or later before you can updgrade wirelessly.
