Have you confirmed that the apps you downloaded are compatible with your model of iPod touch and the version of iOS it's running? Many apps now require iOS 4.3 or later, which if you have a 2nd-generation iPod touch will not work on your device.
If that doesn't answer your question, post back with more details about your iPod, etc. and perhaps we can offer suggestions.

Try this:
- uninstall your current version of Firefox (no data will be lost)
- delete it's Firefox install folder (not your profile folder)
- install the new version
That should circumvent this problem. If you can't delete your Firefox install folder, after having uninstalled it, maybe it's because some of the files are locked. Try rebooting the system. If that doesn't help, ask Apple for support.

Do you have find my iPhone enabled on it? If you do, you could log in to your www.icloud.com account in a web browser on any computer and execute a remote erase command (or use the find my iphone app on another iOS device). Then, restore from your iCloud backup (assuming you have that enabled as well and have an iCloud backup file in place to restore from).

If the old ID is yours, and if your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.
