HT4623 What if I have no wifi connection to download software updates on iPhone 4S
I have no available wifi in order to download updates on my iPhone 4S. Is there some kind of download I can use over the 3G network to update my phone with?
No sorry to update over the air you need a wifi connection, the other option would be to update with iTunes on a computer. Remember to back up before you update.

I have a iPhone 4 with version 4.1 and I need to do a software update but I do not have a home computer to use my I tune account but I do have wifi on my iPhone but when I go into my settings it does not give me the option to do upgrade, please help me!
You have to use a computer to get from iOS 4.1 to iOS 6,
which is the current version. Any future updates from iOS 6
will be done over the air using wireless. Use the computer of
a friend, Apple store, or at work - if allowed. There is no way
to do the update without a computer and iTunes. -

Turn your router completely off (unplug it) for a few seconds, then turn it back on again and see if you can connect.

How is it possible that when I do have a Wifi connection, I cannot connect to Safari or Google Chrome or anything else internet-related? Sometimes it does all work, but after a while Wifi is still there and I am not able to go to any website whatsoever.
Your network preferences file may be damaged, that would explain why you can configure the computer and get online but then when the computer wakes from sleep and needs to restore the setting it cannot.
Open the Library folder of your computer (not the Library in your user directory) and then find the Preferences folder. Now the problem for me is that I've not used Leopard forever so I'm not sure exactly where the file you want is or what it is called. In Mountain Lion it is called:
com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
and it is inside a folder called SystemConfiguration. But I can't remember if this has changed along the way or not. The easy thing to do is to go back to the Network Preferences pane again and make the change I directed above. Then you can look in the Preferences folder and sort by date modified to find the network preferences file that was just now modified. Move it to the desktop, restart your computer, reconfigure the WiFi again and see what happens. -
I can not send email from my iPad . Have been using it for over a year, all of a sudden I can only receive email. I have a wifi connection in my home and have a A T &T cellular data plan?
I have a 1st gen iPhone that I just updated the software to 2.0.2
Now whenever I press the mail icon it goes to the mail app for about 4 seconds, does nothing, no loading of folders, old messages, nothing.
Then it reverts back to the home screen. Tried restarting, haven't tried restoring, thought I'd look here first.
Anyone??? -
I have a new device. When selecting the language and country I am trying to connect to a wifi connection and getting the error 'Your Iphone could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try connecting to your Iphone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a few minutes.
Where exactly did you get this phone?
Do you have a SIM in the phone?
There are 2 primary causes for this.
Either you don't have a SIM in the phone, which is REQUIRED to activate it, or the phone was hacked to unlock it. -
I just wanna know if it is necessary to have a wifi connection to stream from Ipad to apple tv? I mean I just want to use it for streaming
If you only want the free apps, take a look here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)
Regards.

If you see the white WiFi bars in the upper left corner, that simply means that the iPad has detected a WiFi network, and that does not mean that you are connected to the Internet.
Can you open web sites with Safari? -
I have a wifi connection but "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet" I have reset everything; I have used Itunes to update and reset. Still no good. It worked until 2 days ago
Reset everything.. did you do this?
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings
If you're already been there, done that, could be a third party app preventing Safari from accessing the web.
Re sync your apps 5 at a time, then test the iPad. -
