HT4623 what is a 42110 error in itunes mean?

computer isn't recognizing the phone. reinstalled itunes, but no dice. keep getting thie error -42110 msg. any ideas? (using windows 7)

This is a good method for a 'one-shot' backup of the mac as it exists at that moment in time. However if you think it will 'cure' the problem then you could be mistaken. Cloning the existing drive elsewhere and then cloning back means you may well be cloning the existing problem that is causing the issue you see. In which case you would only be cloning it back again. By all means try it as it possibly may help.
A more effective way would be to do what you are proposing with an external firewire drive or compatible usb drive - in any rate one that will boot the mac, keep the system on the external source. Boot the mac from the installer disks, wipe the drive and reinstall a clean OS as well as reinstalling Pro Tools. If the problem goes away you can use the migration assistant to transfer everything back from the cloned drive. You could use the migration assistant after you clean install the OS and before you reinstall Logic Pro. If it works that way then you have some confidence in saying it was a system problem that only a clean install would cure. In which case clone back and do an archive and install preserving network users and settings.

What does the "other" tab in itunes mean?

yesterday i downloaded the new version of i tunes and had 10gb left on my i phone and in the "other" tab down the bottom it now says 3.18gb i dont know what type of files contributes to it can anyone help?

Other can be Album Artwork, Notes, Contacts, Firmware etc. or ( in the case of an iPod that can be enabled for disk use, files that are on there if you are using an iPod as a removable storage device). If you feel that Other is being incorrectly reported then try restoring your iPhone: Backing Up, updating, and restoring your iPhone and iPod touch software

An unknown error occured (-42110) when starting iTunes current version on PC running Win 8 Pro x86. Tried to uninstall i''Tunes. But erratic behaviour when trying to install iTunes again. Get 2 choices, Repair or Delete. Choose Repair, but after some time I get the question: "Do I want to delete everythin in Itunes" Y/N. No matter if reply Y or N or close window, Installation program is terminated without any alterations (or so it says). What ?????

A repair uninstalls all program files prior to reinstalling them. So the message asking whether or not you want to do that just reflects what has always happened. A repair install (like a standard uninstall, followed by a reinstall) doesn't touch content files under normal circumstances.

As I said the iTunes program on the computer. You open iTunes on the computer and go to the View menue in the upper rightand then click on preferences. Go to Devices and delete the backup.

iTunes places the iPhone backup in the following location. Navigate there & delete everything in the backup folder, but not the folder itself. You will have to turn on "Show All Hidden Files & Folders" to see it:

My itunes app was working fine then all of a sudden I'm getting an error - The Itunes application could not be opened. The required folder cannot be found. But it doesn't tell me what folder.

I am using Windows Vista. My itunes launched fine until now. Now I get an error - "The Itunes application could not be opened. The required folder cannot be found". I have no idea what file it is looking for. Has anyone seen this error?
I have also tried to uninstall the package and I get the error Could not access network location %APPDATA%\. And it won't uninstall. I don't know why it's complaining in both cases.
Itunes was working 3 weeks ago with no problem.
