I know now that i have to plug in my iphone to my computer and go to itunes but then what do i do, because i dont know how to sign in?

There is nothing to do because you need to plug it into a computer and connect to iTunes. If you don't have a computer then there is nothing you can do.

If you are having an issue with updating your iPhone, try it through a different method like in iTunes or through software update on your iPhone in settings. If that does not work then follow the steps in the article below to force a restore on your iPhone. Am Ende hat jetzt doch nur geholfen, dass mir meine Kollegin ihr MacBook geliehen hat - darauf konnte ich mein iPhone wiederherstellen - das seltsame ist nur .- ich hab dann auch gleich mein iPad auf iOS 7 akutalisiert (wo ich den Hilfsrechner schonmal da hab *ggg*) - hab's aber erst mit meinem Windows Vista probiert - DA hat es einwandfrei funktioniert... vielleicht war das Update für's iPad (immerhin knapp 20 MB weniger) grad noch klein genug für meine alte, lahme Windows-Gurke? Oder das MacBook nebendran hat es eingeschüchtert?
Keine Ahnung! Werde mir demnächst ein Apple-PC kaufen - das war eh geplant...

When I tried to restore a back up, it said the last time was two years ago. I thought when you're on wifi, it automatically backs up. I've charged my iPhone into my Macbook a bunch of times, so something should have backed up. Is there any hope for my photos?

Yes phone will automatically backup to icloud when on wifi and phone is charge, but your phone storage was full so it stop backing up.

Are you sure you have a 3GS and not a 3G? The 3G cannot be updated to iOS5. What version are you on now?... Settings > General > About > Version

Unless you set the device up for Wifi Sync, you will have to upgrade using iTunes. On the Summary page in iTunes, click the button Software Update.

sync your phone to itunes, then it should say update available. I suggest doing a backup of your phone first prior to updating your phone.

All iPhones sold in Japan are carrier locked. The Japanese carriers do not offer unlocking.
You can not use that phone on a carrier other than the one it is locked to.
Sell it and buy one you can use.

I am having the same problem and took the following steps to mitigate it to no avail.
1. I deleted the Facebook app on the phone and turned off Facebook in the iPhone's system-wide settings.
2. I re-enabled Facebook in the iPhone's system-wide settings and reinstalled the Facebook app and logged in again. It worked. For about an hour.
3. I completely restored the phone to a previous backup (before the problems started) and reenabled Facebook .... reinstalled the app.... and now it works intermittenly. But it hasn't worked in about 12 hours now (just tried a few minutes ago).
Please advise.

This featue is only available on iphone running ios 5 or later.
Update as you always have, via itunes.
