I just switched from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5. When I plugged in to iTunes I lost my App Store Icon. Why and how do I shop at the App store besides using iTunes?

I followed your instructions and still no "App Store" ... This is the second phone, I took the 1st one back for the same reason. They couldn't find it so they exchanged it for this one. Yet once I plugged it in to iTunes to restore my contacts it was gone....
It's a factory setting, it has to be there doesn't it?

If you update your billing information, the iTunes Store will place an authorization hold on your payment card account, usually in the amount of 1 USD, to verify your account information. It will be credited back to your account later.

Where IS the App Store, I can't find it anymore?

Where did the Apple App Store get to? I used to have an App that took me there, no sweat, now I can't find it, even on the wwweb!

If you are referring to the Mac App Store, you can find it on the Dock, next to iTunes. If you don't find it here, open Finder (the icon at the left of the Dock), select "Applications" in the sidebar and open "App Store". If you want, you can drag it to the Dock.
If you don't see it, reinstall OS X. Hold Command and R keys while your computer is starting and reinstall OS X

Try swiping down from the top of the home page so you get the search field at the top and the keyboard...type App Store and see if it brings it up for you.
An alternate approach is Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout to bring it back to the home screen.

Where is the App Store on the Apple TV?

After turning in my Apple TV I tried to search for a App Store Icon but can't find one. My expectations are obviously a lot higher than the forward thinking of the Apple development team. What a let down. My actual TV itself has more features than this device.
Its so frustrating to have bought something like this with huge unlocked potential.

That App cannot be Deleted... Hence you cannot Download it.

App Store badge count shows the wrong number in iOS 8.0.2

Just updated to iOS 8.0.2 on both my iPhone 5 and iPad Air and the App Store badge app count still shows the number of apps that had updates even though they were updated when syncing with my Mac.
When you launch the App Store it quickly shows "Update" for a number of apps before then showing "Open"
Anyone else got the same issue or know how to fix it?

Had the same problem with upgrading to 8.0.2 and then having app updates occur while syncing with iTunes - although just for the iPhone not iPad - not sure what I did differently if anything. The badge number on the phone was wrong until I got an over-the-air update notification which reset the badge number. I uploaded the app over-the-air and now there is no badge number (I would assume until the next update). Will try a sync again with iTunes to see if it was something new with iTunes - or just an odd combination of updating to 8.0.2 in conjunction with app updates.

Why I lost all the apps needed to be update in the app store icon while I have not updated them yet? Please help.

I am using iPhone 4, and I had about 50 apps needed to be updated, which is stated in the App Store icon. I have not had time to update them until today. This morning I had the same issue - even though I have pending updates, the app store badge is gone and it says all apps are up to date. I, like many others I'm sure, selectively update apps based on reviews. I'm sure there is either an app store refresh/update on Apple's end or a run on the app store causing errors or issues.

App Store has badge showing 8 Updates available but when I open the App Store, there are none showing under the Updates tab

My App Store Icon has a Badge showing that there are 8 Updates available. When I open up the App Store and go to Updates, the screen is blank. This is the first time I've experienced this and I don't find any other discussions in the Apple Communities. This is only happening on my iPad 4. My iPhone 5 is working perfectly.

- I never heard that but it may be true. It could be that for some reason Safari can't be used to log into the network. Once logged in, Safari should work fine
- However, I see nothing that say the Mercury Web Browser is Firefox. I would contact the cruise line and ask if and how you use the ship's['s wifi for an iPhone or iPad (it will apply to iPod touch)

How do you remove a badge number from the app store without downloading...

HOw do you remove the badge number icon for a program that you do not want to update from the app store.
I have an app that is updated but i don't want the update (new ugly artwork and I am content with what the present artwork and app does)...I don't want the update. How do I remove/refuse the update and remove the number badge?

new directions:
1. go to itunes
2. click applications
3. right click on the application you want to use
4. press show in windows explorer
5. Copy the ipa to desktop
6. right click and press open with
7. open file with winrar, winzip, what ever, something so you can see all the files
8. open iTunesMetadata.plist with PLIST EDITOR
9. search for "itemId"
10. Delete the number under "itemId" in between </integer>
11. leave One number remaining. (any number)
12. save.
13. double click your new ipa
14. sync
15. No more update badge
DONE.
remember to backup everything you change. just in case.

It's OK that you didn't pose it as a question because the answer is very plain and simple. You can't go back to where you were in the App Store. That's just the way it works unfortunately. you can be twenty screens in to your current browsing experience, and more often than not, you will go all the way to the beginning once you quit looking at the one app that were investigating.

Where is the install package stored from the app store for Lion?

This is an all new way of deploying OS updates from Apple. From what I can see, this presents some issues:
1. Where is the install package that I bought from the app store, and how can I save that offline?
2. If there's a problem with my device in the future, I have no media of Lion to restart from- so what's the procedure to restore from a TM backup? Go back to 10.6, and then to the 10.7 update?
3. What if I want to boot from disc or a drive? I don't have a copy of the install to make a bootable image.

OK, once you install Lion the Installation Package gets deleted. However once you have installed Lion, do following:
- Open the AppStore Application
- With pressed Option (on German Keyboard ALT) Key klick on the "Purchased" Tab!
- You will now see that the prviously greyed out "Install" key for Lion becomes active
- Download the install package
- Do not start installation
- In order to create a bootable DVD or USB drive containing the installer follow instructions posted on

This is how you can create installation media.
For maintenance options (means your Lion installation has some problems but your drive is still OK)
you can boot from the hidden recovery partitions that was created when you installed Lion.
To do so, press the Option (ALT) Key while booting. You will have now the option to boot from
Lion or recovery partition.

Where is the option "Store only headlines" in Mail.app on Mavericks? I used to store all messages on gmail servers. Mail.app on Mountain Lion has feature to load only headlines of e-mails from Gmail. Now It's gone and with new OS Mavericks, I've got 10Gb of mail on my Mac locally.

This problem is slowly killing my machine! I 'upgraded' to a better spec machine so I could synch my phone would you believe it. I couldn't synch my phone and my laptop with a cable, that was fankly incredible.
Now I have a new machine and first thing I did was install mavericks, and now mac mail spends all it's time dowloading mail from may mail accounts. I have 4 imap gmail accounts set up and mail is using 56GB on my local disc to store them.
There use to be an option to limit the disc storage I think 5GB would be quite enough to hald the last few months email locally. Question is how do I set that limit in mavericks. Is there some plist I can edit or something.
Looking at the activity window it seems to spend A LOT of time
"updating cache directory"
I don't think I even have 56GB staore on the server, so how is it possible that I have more on the local copy?
