If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

It needs to be restored by someone. You can do it, and set it up as a new phone, or the buyer can do it.

• HT1386 Why does my iPod not registered as connected to iTunes all of the sudden?

So I got a new iPod touch (4th generation) for Christmas this year, and have had no trouble thus far syncing my music and other things to it, but recently, when I plug my device into my computer, iTunes does not register that it is plugged in, but my computer does....I have run out of option, and have even restored my iPod completely, hoping that would help, but nothing has worked and now I have lost everything on my iPod alltogether. I have grown frustrated and need assistance with this as soon as possible.

See:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

• Why does my Ipod touch 5th generation 32GB have problems syncing with the latest version of itunes?

lately My ipod touch, 5th generastion 32gb has difficulty whenever i try to sync it with tht latest version of iTunes. When i go to sync it immediately claims that over 10gb has dissipated into this "Other" section. to fix that i have to do a factory reset, however after the reset has finished and while i am trying to re-sync my music on to my device the sync gets stopped toward the end saying "Waiting for changes to be applied" for hours on end. even then it does not sync. So currently i am unable to use the ipod tough for what it was built as in the first place, a music player. currently i am ratherdissapointed and i would like to find some answers to this problem because this problem is extremely irritating and it has kept me from using the ipod for what i mainly use it for in the first place, music. Ever scince the latest version of iTunes, where the icon became red, i have bee having this major problem. I suggest you work to find an answer to this Problem and fix it ASAP so i can get back to enjoying my portable music player.

• Why does my Ipod start playing music when I set it on the Speaker dock?

Everytime I set it on the speaker dock it starts playing the same song without pushing any buttons, even when I just want to charge the Ipod.

Are you using the remote that came with the Apple TV? If so, on the Mac open System Prefs > Security and Privacy and click the "advanced" button. Select the option to "disable remote control infrared receiver" and click OK and close Sys Prefs.

• Why does my ipod backup mess up my iphone settings?

So I recently got an iphone 5 and restored it from my ipod toouch 4 ios 6.1.6 backup and now some of the features of the iphone are replaced by the ipod's. If you have a newer idevice, you know that when you hold down the volume down button for about 2 seconds it auto mutes it but since ipod 4's dont have that feature, the backup that of the ipod that I put in my iphone also makes it lose that feature. Another problem is the ipod 4 dies at around 16% to 15% and now the battery setting on my iphone thinks that when it is 15% it is time to turn off. Is there a way to fix this without losing all my apps?

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

• Why does Firefox keep me logged into websites after closing and reopening the browser?

As of today, Firefox has been behaving differently. Namely, when I close Firefox and reopen, I am still logged in to email and other sites. I have all of my privacy settings checked, such as clear history, offline data, form history, etc etc so that they all will be deleted upon closing but this has no effect. Can someone provide insight as to why this is happening and how I can correct it? Before today, after closing and reopening the browser I was required to log in to any sites requiring UN and PW.
I have rechecked all history deletion options to make sure all the appropriate ones were selected. Yesterday, I noticed inbox.com and a program called 24x7 Help were installed on the computer, without my knowledge. I promptly uninstalled them, but I'm not sure if they could somehow be responsible for the odd behavior.

Such a behavior indicates that you keep the cookie(s) that verify that you are logged on to a web server.
Are you using session restore to open those tabs automatically?
* Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
You can set the browser.sessionstore.privacy_level pref to 2 (never) or 1 (non-HTTPS, default in Firefox 3 versions) on the about:config page to disable saving cookies via session restore.
You can change the browser.sessionstore.privacy_level_deferred pref that is used when you do not reopen the previous session automatically via "Show my windows and tabs from last time".

• Why does my Ipod 4 Generation speakers stop working randomly and then start back up again?

I have heard that this problem has happened to alot of the 4 gen ipod users. Is there any way to complain to apple or get a refund? Becuase an ipod is suppose to play music, that's what it's good at, but if it cant even do that then no point buying the ipod really.
It's been happening the day I got it, i even updateed it but still carries on.

Hey there gillly,
It sounds like your iPod Classic is not playing back your music correctly. You should use the following article to help resolve the issue here, named:
iPod classic Troubleshooting Assistant
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
Start by resetting your iPod, and work your way through the article as needed:
Reset
To reset your iPod:
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Take care,

Hi Roger,
Welcome to the Apple Dicsussion Pages.
The Alcatel Speedtouch 585 proabably has version 5 firmware on there. I see form your post you know what the problem is.
This can be the problem.
Earlier modes in the 500 series had Firmware versions 3 and 4 which meant you could telnet into them form the Terminal Application and Unbind SIP from port 5060.
This is what is causing the problem.
The symptoms are a starnge pattern of succss and failure.
A small group you can contact all the time
An equally small group of now and then success
And a large group of Buddies that you can never get AV chats with.
ibosie who posts here says he has been in caontact with Alcatel and that they are working on a Firmware update to get round this.
At this stage another modem would be the way to go. (the 510 and the 580 can be Unbound)

• Why does my iPod make a bloo-bloo-bloop noise and then start playing random tracks from the library instead of the playlist?

This happened once before and seemed to sort itself but I was teaching my class and it kept doing it in the middle of tracks in the playlist. Should I restore and then reload everything?

That sound is either shake to shuffle or a "Your-music-is-corrupt-error".
I believe Apple has a support article on this issue. It means the iPod has encountered an error with your files. You will need to restore your iPod. If the trouble is persistent, there might be a problem with a singular file you will need correct this issue. If the problem still exists take it to an Apple store

• Why does my iPod Nano only work when it is plugged into the computer?

My iPod nana is a 4GB iPod and it does not work at all until it is plugged into my computer. It works perfect when it is plugged into the computer. It will not even turn on if it is not plugged in.

By the sounds of it, the Nano's battery is shot and in need of a replacement. You can have replace the battery for a flat fee or send it to a third party repair company for a little less.
Not much else you can do in terms of troubleshooting this issue.
