HT4623 Wifi probs

My iPad mini won’t connect to wifi. Well it does but very sporadically.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • WIFI prob? (latest update 6.0.2) iphone5

After the most recent iOS update (6.0.2), my iphone seems to not find wifi connections appropriately..which causes my battery to drain a lot faster. If my phone DOES find a wifi connection, upon connecting, there will be no wifi connection icon at the top of my phone screen. Frankly, sometimes the phone won't even display the router, when there is CLEARLY a wireless signal present. The connection continuously drops. This didn't start happening until the most recent update of iOS.
Is anyone else having this problem? I am certain this has upset a lot of users....Feedback appreciated.

I tried that, JimHdk (thanks for the advice), but it's not working for me.
My iPhone 5 (6.0.2) can locate my network, and it even seems to accept my password, but it shows the little spinning wheel next to my network name and is never able to actually make the connection.  As such, I can't backup to iCloud and my battery drains quickly.  Any additional help or ideas would be much appreciated -- thanks!

  • HT4623 wifi connecting buttons are not working

my i phone 4s not getting connected to wifi or even wifi buttons are not working.

What do you mean they are not working?
Does the device detect Wi-Fi networks?
Is there an error when trying to connect?

  • HT4623 wifi networks ask for a password to join: what password is it?

Each time I select a netwrk to join for wifi, it asks for a password. I don't what to type as password. Anyone knows?

    1. To be fair, I didn't name that network; it was the guy who installed it - believe ot not, Most people get these installations done by others. 2. Just because you know that you can name yours, doesn't mean everyone knows that or even want to do it themselves. 3. If I could find that in the documentation, I wouldn't have come here to raise the question. The documentation didn't say anything about WHERE was the "key" written down. (Here they called it "key" as opposed to "password.") 4. That expression "business propieter" was not applicable, obviously I was at home if my network's name started with HOME- and you missed that part. 5. Your hypothetical example didn't help at all; all conceptual.
I'm not going to have serious issues if a Good technological savvy person knows to decipher how basic the problem is and that the person asking is not as savvy as them by the simple way the ask the question. Those who are good detect how to better guide the seekers by asking more questions. I was clear when I said I needed clear steps. I don't have any serious issues, you just need to ask questions to better understand the issue. The other person answered my question in a short paragraph: straight to the point. And that story about strangers meeting and you sharing your password with them, frankly sounded creepy; you may be the one having serious issues since everyone is advised to NOT SHARE PASSWORDS. And that's a very basic security advice.
    Have a good day.

  • Sluggish MBP - wifi probs

    Hi there.
I recently upgraded from a MB to a MBP - brought a refurbished one from the Apple store.
Anyway, since i've had it (and compared to my older MB) its performance is not up to par.
I used migration assistant to transfer everything over from the MB to teh Pro. Tht was fine, but now i'm getting problems usch as:
    - random crashing, just be surfing the net and it comes up "please restart your computer"
    - program crashes - firefox, parallels - this NEVER happened on my MB
    - crashing when waking up from having the laptop in Sleep - have to restart (every time)
    - crashing when coming out of screen saver (only occasionally)
-wifi problems - probably the biggest problem, i have the Pro in the same spot as where i had my Macbook - and it only gets like 3-4 bars, sometimes less (strength) whereas my macbook was always full
    - also - sometimes it says its fully connected, and router is fine etc, but theres no connection - can't surf the net nothing, and i can turn my macbook on and use that fine at the same time the pro isn't!!
these are the biggest problems, also a heap of minor ones.
So yea, i've only had it like 5 days, and haven't had a problem free day. I'm seriously thinking i might downgrade back to the macbook.
I got it refurbished, so it has a one year warranty.
Any ideas as to whats causing this, what i could do about it?
its all updated and stuff also.

    Hey, cheers for the tips.
I thought the same, and i found myself going to back to my old MB to do tasks that required better performance!
Anyway, i done the disk repair, i think its helped, but still not o good still crashes when coming out of sleep mode. And randomly crashes while on the net etc (tho not as much).
Also, i just brought Spore, and this crashes like mad - sometimes right at the menu, other times i play for an hr then randomly freezes..
wifi is better (tried some tips on tht page) but still not as consistent as my MB.
So i'm ot really happy with it, should i just take it back - will i get a refund or a exchange? is that procedure pretty straight forward (or am i in for weeks of waiting and being mucked around...)

  • WiFi prob since OS X.6

Machine in question is an White MacBook mid 2007 2Ghz Core 2 Duo.
I've had this one since new and NEVER had a problem with the WiFi untill I upgraded to OS X.6 using the combo updater, now the only way my machine will connect to my WiFi network is by showing the SSID if the SSID is hidden (closed network) I can sit for any length of time and it will not pick up the network - have read the Apple help about this no use at all. This network had been working for the last 4.5 yrs with the SSID hidden and ALL my other computers PC & Mac have no problems connecting only the MacBook and the only change is the update ?!
    So any ideas ?
    custom mini

I've had the same exact problem - been searching online for days for help. Nothing's worked. I had my hard drive replaced on Saturday, and when they reinstalled the OS for me, it updated something and now my wifi won't work either. Only way I can connect is to an unsecured network, or wired. I've done all the updates as well. My wifi worked fine until I got it back from the Apple Store.
Let me know if you find any fix!

  • Apple, talk to us PLEASE ! (WiFi probs)

Hi everyone, its getting ridiculous that for over a month now Apple is not providing any info on the WiFi problems. This is what I wrote to the feedback them:
    Dear Apple,
Surely you are fully aware of the WiFi problems. Read the forums. I and everybody that I know with an iPad has VERY SERIOUS ISSUES with WiFi, to the point that it has become unusable. The iPad is on the market for over a month now and have totally ignored us, not a single info on whether you are working on it, if and when we can expect an update or a fix, just plain NOTHING, only ignorance. This is not proper customer service ! Pls do something and let us know.
    Many thanks.

Referring to my original response, I believe it's incorrect to say that when you post to this forum "you are not addressing Apple," as Tamara contends.
The problem with this is simple - that unlike actually talking to an Apple employee when you call Customer Support or visit an Apple Store, here you not only have no way to know whether your post is noticed by an Apple staffer and then handled appropriately, but you also have no way to conduct a dialog with Apple at any level, which is invariably an essential component in attempting to resolve an issue of this kind, because there are so many variables and such significance in even the smallest detail.
An additional problem in using these Discussions to attempt to identify a cause and engineer a solution is that much of what gets posted is contradictory and even at times unrelated.
As such, Apple clearly intend for this to be a user-to-user environment, and for all users here to understand that to be the purpose. The fact Apple can, (and to my knowledge in the past at least, has) used threads here to glean information and refer it on to engineering teams is of great potential benefit to them, but not a function of this forum which can really impact on users here.
Hence, while strictly speaking Tamara may not be entirely right in her comment, in effect she is correct because we can't know what gets noticed and what is done with the information, thus it doesn't directly help any of us here who are trying to get problems, faults or other issues resolved.
And posting to the forums serves a purpose in addition to contacting Apple at a support telephone number. If there are a sufficient number of posts about a particular problem, I think it would create an incentive to find a fix more quickly....
I'd hope you are right, but it would be a mistake to believe there weren't other incentives to resolve problems, and not just the larger ones such as this. One has to look at exactly how the problems can be resolved however, because as I say, without the opportunity for direct dialog with individual users, or to examine reportedly faulty units, there's little possible amongst the plethora of threads and confusion of details other than to identify a problem exists. Apple need direct contact with users and access to faulty equipment, neither of which can be accomplished via Apple Discussions.

  • HT4623 wifi not switching on after resore and is light grey?

hi all hope someone maybe able to help have reset iphone 4s to factory settings and now cant get wifi t switch on and is light grey

If the phone has got basic issues like WiFi not working, is APPLE not responsible to get it fixed? I am surprised that a company like APPLE cannot resolve this issue. Is this the quality of iPhone? I am sad to the core that I am facing the same issue. I hope someone from APPLE management reads this and resolves our issues soon.

  • Wifi probs on Mid2009 MBP

    Hello everybody!
Ok, since i've updated to 10.5.8 yesterday night I'm having lots of problems to use my WiFi, which is causing me serious troubles at work.
I've tried almost all what I've read on the net about this, including a full reinstall of 10.5.8 combo update in safe mode. Wifi somwtimes works, and when it does it is very slow!
I have a mid 2009 MBP 13" and I'm unable to run Airport Update released by Apple last 08/12 as it is not compatible with my hardware.
Does anybody know if Apple is working on this?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I think you have the firmwares switched. The 7.2.X firmware was pretty good. As soon as the 7.4.1 came out c. 3/6/09, connectivity issues multiplied. I had dropped service all over the place. I went back to 7.2.2 which is possible to do. But then, after the 7.4.2 firmware came out c. 6/24/09, which I didn't upgrade to, I had dropped service problems as a result of NOT UPDATING to 7.4.2. All is well with 7.4.2 which fixes 5 bugs.
