HT4628 WHY CANT I CONNECT MY NEW MACBOOK AIR TO MY WIFI NETWORK

Chose all different wifi network settings to connect to my wifi.
I was able to connect my PCs even my other apple computer.
But the new macbook air keeps saying "unable to connect".
What do I do?

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you also have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

You can direct connect your MBA to the LaCie via USB 2 cable.  If you have an Apple Airport Router you can USB connect the LaCie drive to the router and then use Airport Utility to configure it.  Time Machine can access it either way.

I have connected my new Macbook Air to my existing Samsung large external monitor with a VGA adaptor but I can't get the full mac desktop to display. No icons but then websites are coming up. Help!  Further info:  I am a complete newbie to Mac.  Had three macs prior to 2000 then four PCs.  Just come back and struggling a bit with the unfamiliarity. On my old PC laptop I could simply switch from the laptop screen to the large external monitor (and back)  with the F4 function key.  While I can get the background image from my MBA to display, that's it.  Until I noticed on the far left of the external monitor, the very edge of one of the web pages I was on.  So Idragged it over to display in the centre.  But that's all that's there.  And now I have gone out of those web pages but they are still displaying on the monitor.  There is some wierd disconnect.  I'm sure it is just a setting thing.  Will keep searching for answer but any advice welcome!

Your dsplay is getting extended onto the external monitor. Chcnage the setting to duplicate it or only display on the external monitor and you should be fine,
Let me know if this worked for you.

One of these should work, depending on the projector. Just note both will not allow you to play protected movies on the projector.

I'm relatively new to Mac and want to try and get the most out of the new MacBook Air.
My wife and I have been sharing the same Apple ID. We both have iPhones - she has a 5 and I've got a 4S.
We only have one copy of iTunes and we have been sharing the account. (She doesn't really use the computer for anything beyond writing the odd weekend assignment.)
Would I be better off setting her up with her own and making her as a separate user on the computer? Would this require much work?
In recent times with updates, we have a few problems with the duplication of texts and that sort of thing. Both of our texts are stored on the computer and that sort of thing. Also, sometimes texts I send her are sent through to me  from her, if that makes any sense.
Anyway, I don't really want to overly complicate matters when it comes to accounts etc, but I wanted to know if a fresh Apple ID would be the best thing or even a new user?
Any tips etc would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in advance

I have this question too (0) Reply

Your question is almost too much a personal one, begging the question "do we (husband and wife) feel comfy sharing one account on the Mac"   maybe thats why nobody answered you.
It doesnt complicate anything, but it adds steps for switching accounts on the Mac/ purchases etc. of course
since your question is mostly personal, ..I wont answer THAT part of it, but creating a new account is easy.....messing with switching back and forth is also a personal preference 'issue' as well.   I prefer to keep things simple, but...........you and yours,  I dont know.......

  • Can I connect my new MacBook Air to my USB external hard drive?

Can any of the ports on a new MacBook Air (USB3 or thunderbolt) connect by cable to an external hard drive that's old-style USB?  Thanks!

Yes, the USB port is a combination USB2/USB3.  Should work fine.

  • Is there a way to connect the new MacBook Air to an audio interface that only has FireWire 400 input?

I recently acquired the new MacBook Air for my performance rig and have discovered that there is no way to connect it to either of my audio interfaces [both have FireWire 400 ports only.  Is there an adaptor for this?  I can't seem to find one.

Later on this month, both Belkin and Sonnet have indicated that they will have means to adapt the Thunderbolt port to the Firewire 800 interface.
Sonnet's solution will be an simple adapter, while Belkins will be a more full featured dock, with a few ports, including USB 3.0
There is no indication what the price of either will be, but both of them should provide a relatively easy means to then adapt to Firewire 400, as such cable adapters are already readily available at a nominal price.
Apple has the Sonnet adapter mentioned on their website, so it may be likely that the Apple online store will be carrying them when they become available.
As far as an adapter from USB 2.0 to Firewire, there have been only a scant few adapters available in the past, and all that I have seen were propretary in nature, only usable for the particular device they were fashioned for. I have not seen any that were usable in a general sense. Look at the reviews of any such products you might find in this regard. You will find no satisfied users.

  • IPhone does not connect to new Macbook Air 2013

    Greating from Brazil,
I have an iPhone 4 and have always used to the USB cable to connect it to my macs. It works perfectly fine in onther 4 macbooks: one macbook white 2007, one macbook pro 2010 and a macbook air 2012.
Now I have the brand new macbook air 2013 and the iPhone is the only USB device I can not connect to it (all my external hard drives, wireless headphone work just fine). What happens is that when I connect the iPhone, it repeatly plays the sound as if it was connected, then it plays the sound as if it was disconnected.
What could I do to make it work?
    Thanks

  • Can I connect the new Macbook Air 11" to firewire 800 drive?

I have a fast Firewire 800 outboard Disk Drive [Oyen 1TB 2.5"] which works flawlessly with my iMac desktop.
Its portability makes it ideal for use with the new MacBook Air 11" [Lion], as a means of making all my data available while traveling.
Is there a way to interface the FW 800 port of the drive to the Thuderbolt port of the Air?
    Thanks,

Sonnet has announced a Thunderbolt to FW800 adapter, and Apple lists this adapter as a featured accessory for Thunderbolt. I called Sonnet and asked when it will be available, and they indicate the end of Sepetember. So, hopefully it's not "vaporware".
I will be probably purchasing one right away, since I have a couple of Firewire drives that I can then restore full-speed functionality.

  • Music stored on NAS connect to new Macbook Air

My music files are stored on a NAS drive in order to play them on my SONOS system. I have recently purchased a new Macbook Air. Can anyone tell me how to populate the iTunes on the new mac with my existing library.
    Thanks

The instructions I provided have the media remaining on the NAS but a copy of the rest of the library files (the ones that present your collection when you start iTunes) put on the MBA and using the media on the external drive.  Frankly if all the media are on the external drive in my opinion there is no need to have the library files on the internal drive and I would put them on the external drive too as a single portable library (turingtest2 article: Make a split library portable - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7392).  You are better off using them from the external drive as NAS can be problematic when using a split library.

  • Magic Trackpad won't connect to new MacBook Air

I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on a new 13-in MacBook Air.  My Magic Trackpad shows up under the Bluetooth menu bar but won't connect when I click on connect. When I go to Bluetooth preferences, it doesn't appear in the list of devices and when I go to Trackpad preferences and try to set it up as a bluetooth device it also doesn't show up. I've tried turning the power off/on on the trackpad and making sure that it's discoverable. The indicator light flashes to show that's it discoverable but it just doesn't seem to be picked up by my MacBook Air. I've also tried loading fresh batteries in the trackpad but still nothing. Suggestions?

Was the trackpad connected to something else? If so, it needs to be deleted from there first.

  • HT4628 Why isnt my safari browsing on Macbook air?

I am trying to browse on my Macbook air on Safari. The Mac only opens google but does not open other pages or websites apart from Google. When I click on hyperlinks nothing happensThis is is frustat should I do? Earlier today, it was working perfectly!

I would first check the system for any of the Flashback trojan variations.
You might also install FireFox and see if the problem is with Safari or your OS in general. Safari may simply have been "hijacked" by some malware. Turn off all the extensions in Safari, if any, and uncheck "Enable Java" and "Enable Plug-ins" in Security in Preferences and see if that does anything.
