HT4640 Adding Videos to Keynote

The videos are in my video ap, not my photo albums. In keynote I can only media I can select from is photos. How do I move a video into my photo albums or get Keynote to pull from the Videos ap?

Lon,
The Video App is for programs purchased through the Apple Video Store or from Select Podcasts. Primarily these are copyrighted materials. That is why there are no transfer tools provided in the application to move the contents to other applications.
If you wish to place videos in Keynote via the media browser, they need to either be videos that can be saved to your Camera Roll (such as video shot with your iPad camera or imported and edited in iMovie, etc. and shared to the Camera Roll) or inserted into iPhoto on your Mac/PC and then synched with iTunes which will place them in your Photos app on your iPad.
To get videos into iPhoto from your Mac simply drag the file to iPhoto and a new "event" will be created and you can place the video file in any album.
When you synch with iTunes, select your iOS device in iTunes Devices and click on the Photos tab and make sure the album you placed the video is included in those to be synched and that you have "Include Videos" checked. Be sure your video is in a format usable by your iPad.

  • How many videos can Keynote handle?

I want to do a presentation using a lot of video clips -- MOVs at 1280 x 720.
The idea is to have one clip per slide... perhaps about 12-15.
We want to do a presentation where we have control over clicking forward to the next video clip, with possible loops of specific videos along the way.
Anyone know if Keynote is capable of handling this?

The only thing I am not sure of is the video looping (if you're meaning a video restarting after it finishes).  You could have multiple copies of the same video on one slide and loop it that way, or sew multiple copies of the movie in iMovie before adding it to Keynote.  You should then be able to move to another slide just by clicking, forcing the video to end.
But Keynote is for sure capable of handling a large load of videos as I use the software quite frequently to display student work (up to over 100 slides of videos at one point) without problems.

  • Hiding Video in Keynote

How would I hide a video in Keynote until I want to show it. I tried it a rough way by adding the quicktime video, adding an opaque 0% action before my bullets, then revealing it, then building the "start movie", then having it wipe away. Is there an easier way?

You can add a video and use a transition (appear)
Be careful with transitions, some video cards don't like graphics passing over a video when it is playing

  • Creating podcasts and videos using keynote and ???

    Hello all,
I am looking for software solutions.
I am preparing to turn some of my lectures into podcasts and quicktime videos. I hope to make it so that each slide has its own audio track so that as the lecture changes over time, so too can just that small bit of audio. For this reason (and the fact that the audio is then built into the lecture) I dont really want to record directly with Keynote.
I have briefly messed around with Garageband to see if this is the best solution, but when I export the Keynote to GB, it wont let me manage the slide time individually. I suppose I could create an image out of each slide and drop that into GB, but that seems rather convoluted.
What have you all been using to create easily modifiable podcasts and quicktime videos from Keynote presentations?
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the discussions. I don't know whether the following suggestions will do what you want, but they may be worth looking in to...
ProfCast provides synchronization of slides with audio and Keynote support.
ScreenFlow can capture your soundless Keynote video as it plays and then allow adding of audio files via drag & drop.
_Podcast Maker_ may also be of interest.

  • How can I use a bluetooth remote to pause a video on Keynote?

I used to use a bluetooh remote to pause videos on Keynote during my presentations.  However, since the Keynote update to 6.2 I am no longer able to do it and it was a very helpful tool for me.  I use the Satechi bluetooth remote GBR-100 for that.  I use the MacBook Air which does not have the infra red remote capability.  Is there any possible set up that I can try?
    Thank you!

The document states that my new iPad (iPad 3) SHOULD mirror on the VGA device... but it doesn't.
The Apple Store sold me a standard VGA adapter, not the digiital one.  The back of the packages states the adaptor supports iPad and iPad 2, but no iPad 3 or "New iPad" is listed.  Did they sell me the wrong adapter?
No. It was packaged before the new iPad was released so it won't list it but is is compatible.
Is it possible that my VGA projector won't accept the 1080 input?
Possibly. Either this or it is not set up corectly.

  • Is it possible to embedding a video in Keynote and then play as a PDF?

    Hi
Is it possible to embedding a video in Keynote and then play as a PDF?  I want to do a PowerPoint/Keynote presentation that includes videos from YouTube.  My preference is use Keynote although I do have Office 2004.
My issue is that the places where we present have their own equipment so we are encouraged to bring the presentation on a USB/portable HD, and they tend to be Windows environments.
In my perfect (ignorant) world, I'd
    Create it in Keynote
    Add/embed videos from YouTube
Save it as a multi platform file like a PDF
I guess the key issue is:
Is there a way to create a multi platform presentation with videos (I think Keynote and PPT require different video formats???) that can be carried on USB/portable HD?
    Thanks

No, it's not possible without using hacks. And Adobe can't support or endorse hacks
Bear in mind that not only there are new features in a new version which can't possibly be recreated by an older version - also, there are enhancements to existing features, which would make them render differently in the two versions.
That said, there are people posting such hacks, as Sébastien pointed out.

  • Adding videos without iTunes!

I have a 30GB iPod and I want link from where I can download a software that can be used for adding videos in iPod without iTunes.
I need that software because whenever I try to add videos to my iPod using iTunes, it displays the error like this:-
" iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to be closed. We are sorry for inconvenience."
So, please send me any link from where I can download such software free!
    Thank You.

    Same Here.
iTunes doesn't work for me, I need software that will allow me to sync Videos DIRECTLY to my iPod.

  • How to embed a YouTube video in keynote on ipad2

I am new to using keynote on the ipad2 and wanted to know the steps, if there are any, to embed a YouTube video into keynote.  Any suggestions?

Yes, and if that presents any problems, you do have the You Tube application already installed on iPad.  It is a native application and you can watch any You Tube video through this app.
Safari is a great webrowser.  But if you want to wach any videos on iPad, find the App in the App store and you won't have any issues.  For example, you could be on CNN.com through Safari and if you try to click on a video, you likely won't be able to watch it.  But, if you download the CNN app from teh App Store, you'll be able to watch all CNN videos through the App.  It is a really logical and safe way to see what you want to see.

  • Best setup for playback of video in Keynote?

I use keynote on a daily basis and find inserting video elements can cause sputtery playback and even flash frames?!! which can be a bit of a problem on a 14meter screen!!
What is the ideal set-up for playing back video in keynote? I see that the video plays fine in quicktime but as soon as you inbed in keynote you get splutters and the odd flash frame.
Is there a recommended codec - max size/dimensions - prefured system configuration - hardware recomendations... I see I'm not the only one to have these problems...
Keynote is a great advancement over powerpoint and should be developed further, even a “designer” edition with more complex design/motion features for us that would like to push the bound’s…. THINK AFTER EFFECTS...
    Thanks,

I had this problem and it drove me batty. Went to Apple store and 'stumped the stars' with the issue. We tried changing compression to make video smaller, etc to no avail. Sometime video would even lock up.
I found the solution on this discussion board. Can't recall who to thank. I put the Keynote on an external drive to my MacBookPro. Now it worked much better. Occasionally I will get a short milli-second flash, but no sputtering or no locking up. So I just carry a 80GB external drive with me with my lecture on it an it works great. If you figure out how to get rid of the random flash let me know, on your 14 meter screen it will look like a nuclear test!
I think what happens when you drive an external projector, in addition to showing the instructors version on your MBP, it is simply too much for either RAM or hard drive to deal with fast enough. So when you put the presentation on an external drive it takes that load off your internal drive. Maybe that is not what really happens but sort of sounds logical. Let me know if it works for you, and let me know if you get (and later solve) the random flash

  • How do I embed a YouTube Video in Keynote 6.5?

Hi!  Used to be that we could embed a link into Keynote to play during the slideshow; I'm not seeing how to do that now. Help! Please!  It looks like the Keynote just wants the videos to live on board the computer, you just click Media and bring it in...

Hi ViddyYo! I don't recall ever being able to embed videos in Keynote - but you certainly can not embed videos within a presentation now.
You will have to download the video from the video hosting site and place it as a movie within the Keynote.
If you own the rights, I would suggest using a website like www.keepvid.com to make it happen.

Sorry, I understood you to say you had the whole CS6 suite, which includes Illustrator.
As far as finding out what the files are, sometimes you can look at them in a text editor to figure this out. See below; the, Creator Tool line. Not every software package makes it this easy, though.
