HT4707 Using Lion I cannot "edit" in iPhoto. Why not?

I recently installed Lion and now when using iPhoto (8.1.2 424) I cannot access "Edit" to enlarge a photo or crop it. Any reason why? Something else I need to do now that my operating system is Lion?

Lion is incompatible with that older version of iPhoto. You need to purchase iPhoto 11 - that's v9. You can do this on the App Store.

Using Lion, recent Movies with .mov extension will not play in Quicktime, but earlier ones taken with same camera (Kodak M530) will play fine.

All scanners output one thing only -- an image, a picture of the stuff on the paper that was scanned.
There is not "text". There is a picture of text characters.
This image / picture can be brought into a PDF. What is in the PDF is still an image / picture of text.
Open the PDF with Acrobat. Use Acrobat's OCR feature.
If you desire to touchup some characters use the "ClearScan" OCR.
(Review Acrobat's Help to resolve any questions on this.)
Note that PDF is not a word processor file format and does not tolerate word processor like "editing".
Use Acrobat to do touchups to characters and short character strings. Save As often.

Spry tool tip does not work in template or child pages within an editable region. Why not?

Ok. so I am getting pretty frustrated. I take the time to learn how to use CSS and to create a template page for a Contractor Site (www.ContractorInsurance.net). The idea is to create a page that I can use for different classes of Contractors...right?
Then I get all happy about being able to insert ToolTip onto pages to help the user. Great!
LIfe to turn to Sorrow after nearly five hours of searching for a "eeking" answer.
So what good does it do to have an Editable region to update if we cannot have the flexibility to insert a tool tip on child pages? Ok so the fast solution is to what... Have a question mark image, insert another apDiv, name it toolTip_Not and provide it with a show=hide behavior?

you will notice that a couple of lines have been placed in the HEAD section of the document. When using DW templates, the HEAD section is usually not editable, hence the error mesaage. By default, your template should have an editable region in it just before the closing tag. It looks like this:  Dreamweaver should be able to find that editable region and insert the
<script> tag there automatically. Because you don't have an editable region like that in the <head>, open the master template, and paste the code above just before the closing </head>

I cannot print in IPhoto. The print function is blocked by the message that " There are no available themes" .
What does this mean and how do I get past it to print my photos?

Reinstall it.
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

I cannot edit in iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite.

After uploading my photos into iPhoto I can view my photos but when I go to edit I get a black page. I have tried all of the suggestions listed in other forums to no avail.

My Editing in IPhoto is not Saving

I have I photo 09 version 8.1.2. i have recently noticed when i edit my photos they do not save. I can go back to the "edit" mode and the editing is presents, however, when i save the editing and click "done" and view to photos in the non editing mode ... all the photos appear as before .. unedited. Can anyone help with this?

A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.
If that does not help backup your library and depress the option and command keys and launch iPhoto rebuild the library form the last automatic database backup

Yes I did.I updated Aperture & iPhoto in the update that came after Mountain Lion.

These 2 updates I downloaded yesterday.
When I open Aperture a little window appears, it says "opening Iphoto library" this went on for a while,iPhoto library did not open after I clicked to open Aperture.

pr_data_changed->mt_inserted_rows as it contains values only entries entered for the first time .
i am not getting the newly edited values in it.

Cannot email from iPhoto: internet not connected message

I am using the latest version of iPhoto and also have just upgraded to Yosemite, though this problem has existed forever and I am just now at my limit of tolerance.
I get a message that says my internet is not connected or working properly; completely false btw. I have tried deleting my accounts in iPhoto and reinstalling them to no avail.
What do I do?

I could have sworn that I had chosen the options you suggested in the first place. I did change to select Mail as the app and after your message, I tried once again to select iPhoto as the email app and yes, my iCloud account was at the top of the account list in iPhoto. This time the email from iPhoto worked perfectly.
As they say in NYC..."Go figure"

I use Windows 7 enterprise edition, and I have not been able to make Firefox on my machine. As soon as I open a website, it becomes unresponsive

Since 6 months, as soon as I open Firefox and type in a website, it just freezes. Its stops loading the website and also the whole firefox window freezes : it does not minimize and neither it pop backs. I have tried all the resolutions provided but none of them work for me. Really bad. If soon this does not resolve, I will trash out Firefox permanently from my laptop - though I do not want to do this :(

Why to use chnage pointers for master data idoc why not the change idoc

Hi Gurus,
I have one doubt about Idoc.
When changes to master data has to be sent Change pointers are configured and used. (CDPOS & CDHDR). In case of the transaction data change change idoc is used as is the case with orders (we use ORDCHG for ORDERS message type to send the chnage details to a order which was already sent to other system.
Why we can't use change idoc or message type whatever, instead of Chnage pointers in case of master data or vice versa in case of transaction data.

It was a good question ... SAP seems never designed the change pointer to handle transactional data IDocs. Only for master data IDocs distribution purposes.
It may due to volume data ... the transactional data can change many times within a day compare with master data which hardly change or once a while.
