HT4710 I would like to upgrade iMovie, iPhoto, and Garageband preinstalled on my mac.

Hi all,
I got my Macbook pro for a few months now. It just happened that my Mac came in with all the softwares preinstalled on it. Everything was great until I received the notification that upgrades for iMovie, iPhoto, and GarageBand were available. In order to install these upgrades, I have to log in with the id of whoever purchased the softwares (which is impossible). Now, when I went straight to the apple website and tried to download these upgrades directly, the mac told me that these upgrades cannot be installed if it's not from the app store. I changed in installation preference from System preferences so that softwares from other places other than the appstore can be installed on the Mac but that didn't work either. Now that I got Mountain Lion on my Mac, I think it is crucial that I installed these upgrades. If anyone knows how to bypass these crazy prerequisites, please let me know.
Thank you so much.

Hello, La Luz de La Luna,
To upgrade your preinstalled iLife applications you have to accept them as purchased with your AppleID.
Launch the App Store and sign into your account. Then go to the "Purchased" tab. Here the iLife applications should be waiting for you to be accepted. Click the "Accept" button. This will register them to your current account. Now you should be ablet to upgrade them using the App Store.
See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to complete installation of your applications.
Regards
Léonie

  • Imovie, Iphoto, and Garageband are missing

Imovie, Iphoto, and Garageband are missing after I updated OS to Yosemite. iTunes now wants to charge me to reinstall them. How do I get these apps back?

    Hi,
If you had those before, just go to "purchases" in the App Store and re-install them.

  • My old mac screen broke down and I would like to transfer my photos and documents to my new mac. Is it possible to transfer it with the cable without fixing my screen?

My old mac screen broke down and I would like to transfer my photos and documents to my new mac. Is it possible to transfer it with the cable without fixing my old mac screen? Please help!

Sure! If the two Macs have Thunderbolt ports, attach a Thunderbolt cable between them. If they have FireWire, or if one has FireWire and one Thunderbolt, connect a FireWire cable (with a TB adaptor if necessary). Reboot the old Mac holding down the T key. Make sure it's connected to power. You'll now see its system drive appear on the desktop of the other Mac and you can use Migration Assistant to automatically transfer files, or drag them over manually.

  • Update issue about imovie, iphoto and GarageBand

hey guys, i have bought MBA 11'' 2011 for few days, and yesterday the Apps store noticed me that I needa update imovie, iphoto and GarageBand, I'm wondering are they free for getting update?

    i actually bought 13'' MBA 2011

  • I would like to upgrade my HDD and don't want to buy something that doesn't fit, function, or costs too much.

    My specs are as follows:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)
Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory  4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics  Intel Iris
    Software  OS X 10.9.3 (13D65)
    13-inch (2560 x 1600)
    121GB Flash Storage
    Memory 2 2GB slots
I would like to upgrade to 1TB, optimistically. This definitely depends on price. I definitely need 500GB at a minimum and maybe 2 TB at maximum. I think 2TB is definite overkill, but if the price difference is right then I would choose the more reasonable option.
I don't know if I want a solid state or not, because I don't fully appreciate the difference. I am definitely trying to keep my billfold happy, while solving the problem of the constant "Warning: your startup disk is almost full" message. I will spend a few extra bucks for quality and reliability.
Please help me out. I can barely do anything with this restriction.

Who would be doing the work? You or Apple?
First, I would go to iFixit.com and see what upgrade options they may suggest, and better yet, see if the unit even uses standard OEM components. Most do, but there have been a few oddities here and there that don't. A hard drive will consume more power than the SSD so it's possible additional heating may be an unwanted side effect.
If interested, Hitachi is making a line of high speed, low power, high performance drives. See the thread linked below for details:
2.5 Inch Hard Drive - New Hitachi High Speed Experience and Questions
I got one of them and they're very high speed and low price for a mechanical HD.
The easiest thing to do would be get one of them, put it in a decent external enclosure and just connect it as Eustace Mendis suggested.
If you decide to do any types of upgrades, even if Apple is doing them, backup your system before doing anything else.

  • I currently have Lightroom 5.7 and would like to upgrade to CC, and am unsure about what I need to do.

Will I need to uninstall my current copy Lightroom, or will the CC upgrade take over and "fold" it?

Backup the Lightroom catalog, then uninstall your current install of Lightroom. (Do not delete the catalog or previews.) Install the the Adobe Creative Cloud app, log in with your Adobe id (after completing your subscription particulars) and install Lightroom using the CC app.
The existing Lightroom catalog will be compatible with the new install but any 3rd party plug-ins will need to be installed.

  • Can't Update iMovie, iPhoto, and Garageband

Hello, I have an older version of the Mac iLife suite (not sure which one), and I want to update to the 2013 version. Unfortunately, the Mac App Store doesn't show an update to the three apps (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garageband), and it also doesnt say that I purchased these apps. Is there a way to fix this and update without having to buy the apps again?
    Thanks,
    Omar

If your version of the suite was disc based, i am pretty certain you have to buy the new versions, you might be able to contact Apple and sweet talk them into free upgrades, but I doubt it. If your version of the suite came from the App Store, you should be able to go to the purchased section, log in and see them on the list. Downloading from that list should give you the latest versions.
I strongly suggest you back up your current version before upgrading, if you experience any issues or dislike something.
I don't know if it is still like this, but for the first few days of the new iLife, Apple accidentally set GarageBand to be free for everyone (at least I expect it was an accident) you might want to look into that.

  • I recently bought a macbook air and the iMovie, iPhoto, and garageband are not installed into the laptop. What do I do?

When I type it into the finder it does not appear, how can i fix this? Please help!

If you bought the computer new, run the Mac App Store program and you'll find them in the Purchased tab of program. If you bought the computer used from someone you'll have to use the Mac App Store program to purchase them.

hi-i just installed "lion" and have"ilife09"would like to upgrade to ilife 11 is there a "package that has g/band, iPhoto & i movie-all in one as a complete upgrade(and is it cheaper in a "package")  or do i have to install each one three separately?

    Aarrggghhhh, you in Australia, gotcha!
Merchandise prices are in U$D on all links I posted.
Amazon does shipping globally - see more here for AU shipping rates (in U$D)
    http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MC623Z-A-iLife-11/dp/B003XKRZES/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&q id=1311468383&sr=8-1
You can sign up for an account with them, being the largest online retailer in the world, they take all major credit cards and/or PayPal account as well.
If I were you, Id do some research on Australian online stores for iLife package before going with Amazon, maybe you could find it cheaper there. But given the bad shape the US Dollar has been in, you might also get a better deal with Amazon, because U$D is so dirt cheap these days!
I got my iLife 11 on Amazon. I buy Apple hardware on Apple's refurbished store, parts on OWC, and software on Amazon

  • HT2305 I want to upgrade IMovie, IPhoto, Garageband and ITunes. My MacBookAir is one year old. But what are the prices for updates?

My MacBookAir is one year. I want to upgrade IMovie, IPhoto, Garageband and ITues, But What are the prices for these upgrades. How do I get around?

Actually, if you are updating the free iLife apps (iPhoto, iMovie & GarageBand) that came with your new Mac, the updates are free. Only if you are upgrading to newer major paid versions would you be charged.
    iTunes is always free, but is located in Apple Downloads, not the Mac App Store;

It might be time for you to get to know the help area of Apple:

You should have a good read and learn about your iPad.
The is information there about upgrading and manuals too.
    Hope it helps.
